Upon the completion of fermentation, the wort lord said let there be beer, and it was good. And to celebrate the creation of fine brew, he said there shall be MASS to allow enjoyment of the people. To house this MASS, they shall come to Congregation Ale House, and it shall be good. You lovers, tasters and aficionados of beer - here lies a sacred place in which to have thy beer among fellow patrons and disciples. The ceremonial house is built strong and poised to accommodate ample pilgrims; it encourages partnerships and joint discussion so that you nay feel alone whence treading the path. There are numerous sacramental stations to pour good beer that you will find yourself both enlightened and content. Spanning multiple styles to focused themes or origins, the bounty that awaits you is ripe and full. To provide nourishment while on your path of atonement (or voluntary refresher from winters past), there are ample culinary delights to accompany the honored brew of which your chalice hath bestowed. Available to aid you through the tumultuous journey are lovely maidens endowed with the knowledge and grace befitting of such noble position to offer forth your sanctified selections. Brothers and sisters, heed my wisdom and welcome the invitation laid before you. Join your fellow man and woman in this glorious place of common respect and admiration. Your path to enlightenment awaits... see you there.

I have to tell you I love this place is local by both of my jobs I work next door my friends love it here, I come here all the time except for this Saturday August 8 I went in there with a friend & it was crazy to me how they didnt let me drink because they said my I.D was fake and that I was really 19 years old. I know better then to come into a place to drink being underage, but I know one of the waitresses there for a while with the purple hair, and she knows Im in and out of that place all the time and never had a problem I been in congregation since this place was opened here in Down Town Long Beach. They were being very rude that day the craziest thing is that they all served me drinks before I just couldnt believe it they made me never want to go back I felt like they were getting personal wow!! other than that this place rocks... what I went through was just so unnecessary..

Have been here many times and enjoyed a great evening every time. Heres why: First they have a great beer menu and I think they some kind of beer thing on Thursdays (check which day) but you can try a lot of different brews and whoever does their rotation knows whats up because they often have cool new ones. Second: Food is awesome, weve had most of the stuff, here are some suggestions; burger is great, chicken sando is too, tacos are bomb. The reason to come here though are their tots. Not hard to make tots I know, but they do something different. They offer like 12 dipping sauces for the tots, all are excellent but the best is the sriracha ketchup! Damn those tots and ketchup with a beer is like the perfect snack. Clean inside, very cool staff, and parking structure nearby. Great place to hang out with friends when in LBC.

I like Congregation on the weekend around lunch. Its a little less busy but still lively enough. You dont have a dedicated server for your table at Congregation, so you have to make sure you dont mind walking to the counter and ordering your food or beer. The food is simple and tasty enough, Its not exactly a gastro style pub, but better than what youd get in a lot of Long Beach bar and food joints. The sausage plates and dipping sauces are particularly good. Ive personally had a few bad experiences here with bad beer and the hostess refusing to get another or letting my wife try a taster before buying a full glass, so I wont be going back in the near future with so many other options in LB. Its not a bad place overall but service is just typically subpar. I would recommend it for a change.

Congregation Ale House was once one of the only places you could go to drink hard to find craft beer, and international ale. For a long time I would avoid it because the lines were so long, and service too slow. But, now that things have died down a bit, Im glad to return to Congregation. Long a hangout for the beer conscious, they provide a wide array of craft and international beer that you wont get at your run of the mill bar. They also offer some great eats that are sure to keep you seated there and returning again and again. Prices are what you expect for a mid-upscale drinkery in DTLB. Parking is street or one of the lots. You know the drill. Anyway, its on the Promenade, so even if this place dont tickle your fancy, something else is just around the corner.

Service is horrible!! Our waiter basically disappeared halfway through our dinner/drink stay. We had a party of about 12 people, everything was going fine until we no longer at any service. Also they would not find our tab on file when we tried to order from the cashier stand. They do have lots of beer on tap, not much liquor but that is to be expecting considering it is more of a "beer bar". The pub pretzel is ok. The sauce is the real star of that dish. Also the nachos are nothing special at all. Very small serving for nachos and no real taste. If your going here Im going to assume its just for beer because everything else kind of sucks.

I went to this restaurant during a large biking event in downtown Long Beach. This place was packed to the brim with happy locals. It was a bit hectic but the vibe being put out from the staff and the patrons really was welcoming. Even though the staff was buzzing around because of the sheer amount of people they still were very polite in answering my questions about ordering and menu items. I ordered a chicken sandwich and it came out beautifully. I was taken back a little by the size of the portion but the taste really made up for it. I will definitively be coming back to this place in the future.

They have a crazy number of beers, if thats your thing, which it isnt really mine, but their beer menu is still impressive (though not cheap). Their food menu is rather more limited, but that shouldnt bother you much, given that their burgers, pizza-like flatbreads and sandwiches are all mindblowingly tasty. And their dipping sauces for the fries are pretty unique, and also excellent. Great unique concept for the decorations and stuff, too. Only complaint is that, in trying to feel more like a bar, the music is a bit loud sometimes (but you can sit outside, which is a bit better.)

For three years straight, this is my Monday-night hangout. Ive outlasted most of the servers now. Ive seen the jukebox evolve, the menu change and the prices inflate. Truthfully I love this spot. Its a perfect location for almost any activity at all. It is the pub with the most utility I have ever witnessed. Great for parties, dates, drinking, dinner, lunch, happy hour, late night, watching sports (if its a popular game or a slow night) and even mild working. Incredible rotating tap. The list goes on. Come on a Monday night and you will likely find us on the patio.
