I gave the overall rating a good but the wine is poor to fair. We purchased a local 2 for one coupon to tour and taste at Wise Villa Winery. The drive was beautiful and the scenery, breathtaking. On a side note we purchased their Zinfandel at Costco prior to purchasing the coupon and found the Zin to have great potential if left to age a few more years. We were excited to taste the wines and learn about this vineyard and how they process their wines. We tasted prior to the tour and the sommeliers were very gracious and we also met the young man who helped create the wines, Associate Winemaker Kevin Luther. They educated us on each wine during the pouring and boasted about the flavors and nuances. I was excited to taste. Upon tasting each one, I was bored. Most had no aroma or flavor to speak of with the exception of the Torrontes. The tour was good and the staff were friendly. They produce Cabs, Cab Franc, and Sirah on their vineyard and are quite proud that they are one of the few that do. These particular grapes like coastal breezes and prefer cooler temps as opposed to the temps that reach into the 100s on any give summer day in Lincoln CA. The Torrontes is quite good and would be a great summer time wine and like I said, the Zin is nice too, but needs to age a bit in the bottle. The Sierra Foothills are great for growing Zins as these grapes like the warmer weather. We will not be back to taste or purchase any of their wines. Sorry to say this.

Weve been members for the last year, after visiting for the first time. The food is outstanding - if a wee bit pricey. The wine is on par for the price point as far as quality, and is consistently good. The torrontes is pretty amazing, and Im not typically a white wine drinker. The views from the tasting room / bistro are absolutely beautiful. The staff always goes out of their way to make sure we have a great experience, and Dr. Grover is a wonderful host. If you want a special treat, take the little lady out for one of their 7 course dinners with the pairings. The food is always spectacular and Grover is on hand to talk about the wines. This is a good last stop on this section of the wine trail. There are several wineries in the area that have some pretty distinctive Zins. The Pinot and the Syrah are generally pretty good choices to pick up and they have a couple styles of chard you should check out. Week days are the best time to head over for the full experience as its a little quieter. Its a popular destination on the weekends, and while they have plenty of seating and staff - the occasional un-announced tour can gum up the works a bit.

I have to say that although a very elegant winery in Placer County with relatively good wines, their price point for wines, meals at the on-site Bistro and their wine club is way too high. I joined their wine club but now see I will quit after the mandatory two shipments (@ $100+ per shipment). My GF and I recently went to their Harvest Full Moon party...it was expensive ($127 for both of us...the price included tax and a hefty tip that was built into the ticket fee) and very disappointing. Although good, the portions were small, you had to pay list price for wine by the glass and the entertainment...well...not commensurate with their prices. Wise Villa Winery appears to be attempting to recover the costs for recently constructed bistro & wine tasting room. While elegant, they may end up pricing themselves out of the Placer County wine market since their wines are good but not great...there are many other good wineries in Placer County and nearby counties that are just as good at a lower price point. I think I liked it better when Wise Villa was just starting...they were friendlier and less interested about money...

My wife and I joined their wine club in january of this year on on our first visit. Second visit was a disaster. My sister and a cousin I havent seen for 20 years joined us for some wine tasting and appitisers. When asked to pick up our prepaid bottles of wine, They told me that I canceled my membership a month ago. I told them that I just signed up two weeks ago and showed them the charge of $135 on my bank statement on my smart phone. They were still refuseing to give me my wine and honor my membership. Then the Dr.wine maker boss appologized and offered us a tasting and some cheese and crackers. When we went back inside to pick up our wine packege, we got the same answer as before. They said I canceled my membership a month ago. While walking out in disgust, they told me there is a $55 bill that needs to be paid for what we thought we an appoligetic comp. I finally got my wine box the following monday with not so much as an explanation for their neglagence. The wine and food prices are way overpriced and the service was very slow.

I love to support local businesses since I live less than three miles away. We had been here one other time during a wine trail event and the service was sub par then. However, since that was a busy event, we thought we would give the wine and service another try. There were almost as many staff members as patrons. However, after waiting about five minutes to get somebodys attention, and after one of the servers looked at us and blatantly ignored us, we left and went to Goathouse Brewery a mile down the road. We had a great time and spoke with the very personable owners at length. I highly recommend Goathouse Brewery! Wise Villa--wines are average, the service was deplorable! The Estate was beautiful and peaceful.

If youre looking for a tourist trap obviously owned by Los Angeles folk, who have nothing better to do with their money but peddle basic wine to people who dont know any better, look no further. I gave two stars because the people are nice, but I am not reviewing the people I am reviewing the establishment and the wine. It is basically a restaurant that makes their own wine, if youre looking for a real authentic, fun wine experience look elsewhere. There are much better places elsewhere in the area. Bottom line, real wine people look elsewhere, those looking for a basic "nice" place you will be pleased.

The atmosphere and food were delicious! However the prices were extremely high $4 for 3 meatballs! Our server told us wed have to order about three items from the menu to make it a meal and all items were between $3 to $6 and he said 4 items would fill him. We got two bottles of wine and a couple of entrees each not enough to be a meal but enough to soak up some of the wine. Are TAG came out to over $130

We had a wonderful experience here! First of all, the service was fantastic. I wish I remembered the name of the young man but thank you! The cheese and artisan plate compliment each other well, with the perfect wine to go along with it. The scenery was great overlooking the vineyards. As far as price goes? I think it was reasonable especially when you compare to Napa.
