Any restaurant that gets away with serving me mushrooms in a dish, and leaves me wanting more, is a top notch location! With an opening line like that you might think I am not partial to mushrooms. And you would be right. But my visit to Via Uno had me seeing so many wonderful plate passing by that I gave into their menu full of mushrooms. Sure, I would have asked for a dish modification. Sometimes though you just want to see how its meant to be prepared when sight of other meals look good. From their Pizza menu I ordered the Pizza Via Uno. It is a half calzone and half pizza. a bit of the best of both worlds in my head. When mine arrived it was flowing off the sides of a large restaurant plate. Steaming hot with the aromas of a fresh oven. Outside they advertise wood fired. From what was served to me I would say it really is what Via Uno advertises. The shear quantity of the the Pizza Via Uno was more than enough to fill me up with some left over. I would say that two could share the order an be entirely satisfied. The price at $19.00 was okay. Especially given that I LOVED this dish with it mushrooms, mozzarella, excellent sauce, and just the right thickness and crispness to the dough. The ricotta is the lightest, creamiest, fluffiest ricotta you have ever had in your life. The soppressata is perfect. For my dish I have to say it was more calzone than pizza. I didnt care if the balance was off. It just good. Even though I has some left over that went into a nice to-go box, I was already looking forward to reheating the leftovers to try some more mushrooms. Maybe I needed to have some more mushroom cooked correctly and in the right recipe. Maybe I will visit Via Uno more often to try more. As for the Via Uno service I would say it is full of purposeful inconsistency. Loved regulars are treated with a large heart and attentive service. New and irregular customers who may not be know as well are not ass well regarded. People sitting at the bar are nearly ignored unless you are a loved customer. People at the tables are give more attention no matter whether friend or strangers. I have noticed this over several visits whether during the week and the weekend at various time of lunch and dinner. Even on this visit during the summer getting my water glass refilled was a chore So was getting the check. Service problems for my visit are not a problem of having people around. three different people passed regularly. But they only visited me with a purpose for first drinks and to deliver plates. Otherwise I felt like I was nearly invisible. I noticed this was similar for others as I watched service. Want water? Youll have yell out "ciao" or "Scusami". For a first time visitor to Via Uno I recommend getting a table in the southwest corner of the main dining area. Or anywhere in the dining area that is off to the right when your entering . And dont forget to yell out when you need anything. That will be the best way to get decent service. To finish off your visit to Via Uno you will definitely want to order a cappuccino. I usually take one or two raw sugars. At Via Uno I dont add any sugar. Its an excellent creation any place would be glad to serve. In fact, you may want to visit solely for a cappuccino. Inconsistent service aside, I feel Via Uno offers a great value for your dollar. Food is top quality and there is more than enough to fill you up. Dining area is a nice place to eat and youll be given real napkins. Even the bathrooms are above average. Location is easy to find and close to great beaches for picturesque walks before or after you eat. But Ill reserve that last star for that time I am finally greeted and server with all the heart of a recognized regular.

Real good food. My husband and I just wanted to give it a try when we are looking for a place for dinner. I ordered Risotto di Mare, my husband order Spaghetti alle Vongole e Nduja and both taste real good! my risotto has more seafood flavor (came with a lot of small octopus and clams & mussels around the dish) which my husband didnt like so much, but I really enjoyed the dish! The seafood spaghetti is slightly spicy but it creates a great balance of flavor, very tasty and my husband said he loves that dish! We also ordered Purpo Marinato as appetizer which is a octopus and arugula salad, I like it, but it would be better if they handle the octopus better. (I have really high standard of seafood because I grew up in Taiwan which is the country that seafood is just fresh and delicious). I also had hot tea, which came with 1 cup of hot water, another small kettle of hot water and a basket of teabags (about 15 teabags with 4 different flavor) for you to choose for $3! This made me really happy because usually you just get 1 teabag and 1 cup of hot water and it will cost you $2.5 or $3. Desserts are great, too! My husband got a flour-less chocolate cake with sliced almond which he said the flavor is good and not so sweet, but he doesnt like the texture. I got myself a Tiramisu which is the best one I have had for few years! Its made in a REAL way not Americanized Tiramisu which I appreciate it so much! My husband tasted mine and decided to ask them to change the chocolate cake to what I have. They did it without any question asked and our waitress girl is still really nice to us. LOVE this place. decent price, nice service and excellent food! You got to give it a try!

Well, I was really disappointed; the food was lacking in flavor, the ambiance was chaotic, and the service was discourteous to the point of rude. The bread that was served was indeed unbelievably old and stale, our two entrees were fresh but bland and the pork tenderloin so thin that it was no wonder that it was overcooked, dry and tasteless. The side of cauliflower was lacking in flavor and nonexistent in texture; just a heap of indistinguishable bits that were microwave hot with the cheese topping burnt in some places. The Tiramisu was so lacking in flavor that I couldnt taste either espresso or rum/liqueur at all and the amount of cocoa powder layered on top had us both drinking water afterwards to wash the excess cocoa away. Two bites and I laid down my spoon...not worth the calories. When we arrived, there was a wonderful accordion player playing some nice Italian selections. However, he was mostly drowned out by the servers loudly resetting (banging the new bread plates on the table) and cleaning tables (whipping the rags so fast that I could feel the breeze!) around us while keeping up loud gossiping conversations and laughter with each other while conveniently mostly ignoring us. It was startling to have them breeze by us so fast that they were almost running; not a pleasant calm atmosphere to enjoy our meal. Our server all but disappeared during most of the meal and we had to wait about 10 minutes for ANYONE to bring us our check. This was a waste of time and money.

After a gratifying hike on Devils slide off of Highway one south of San Francisco we were pleasantly surprised to find this Italian restaurant open on Thanksgiving day. We were warmly greeted by the owner and his staff and were quickly seated. From there the service was top-notch. Everyone contributed to make our meal excellent. We ordered the wood fired pizzas and a half a calzone/pizza. It reminded me of when I ate wood fire grill pizza in Naples Italy for the first time. I would recommend that anyone traveling in this area stop by for fresh and authentic Italian cuisine.
