Well, its my first time at Cabalen to buy the egg pie that my mom had when I came to visit her. They had no names on the box so I assumed they were all egg pies. Upon opening the box the top portion of this pie was completely unattached to the pie itself. I tasted it and it was hard, dry and tasted old. It turns out I had the buko pie!! I didnt mind keeping it if it wasnt dry and messed up looking...if it was edible, but it wasnt. I brought it back and they wouldnt trade it for the egg pie that I actually expected it to be nor did they offer at least half of my money back. They told me there were initials "E" and "BP" on the boxes. First of all, a new person in that restaurant would not know what that means! Secondly, that was the worst looking, worst tasting pie I have ever seen!! It makes me wonder if they care about the QUALITY of food they serve? This shows that this restaurant is money hungry. I dont think one pie would cause you hardship. And money hungry people are the ones who will sell you dirty food for the sake of profit...I guarantee. They couldnt sacrifice 1 pie to create a regular customer who could have bought 50 pies a year! Also, I know that pie I purchased would NOT have passed quality control. I will find a way to have this restsurant checked by the proper authorities to make sure that we are being served clean food. On top of that, customer service was very poor!

We thought this was a buffet. Its not. We are unfamiliar with Philippine food and thought a buffet would be perfect—a taste of this and that to see how we liked it. The staff was unhelpful but another customer explained how it works. The food is on display and you have a choice of one or two items plus rice. None of the choices are labeled, so you can point at what you want and take your chances. The place was busy. The staff looked unfriendly. We had no idea what to order. We left.

My fiancé and went to Cabalen for the first time this morning. The woman working behind the counter was so great! She walked us through each dish so we could choose something wed like. We each chose multiple items to try. Everything was very different in flavor and very good. They serve a garlic rice that accompanies the dishes that is delish. We love trying new places and new food. This is a place we will happily return to!

Hidden gem of Filipino goodness, all the entrees were delicious and the kindness of the workers was traditional. Eat there and enjoy unlimited rice with your plate lunch. Very accommodating helping us figure out what was gluten free. It would be perfect if they were to switch their soy sauce to Gluten Free Soy Sauce so the choices would be endless for my wife that has a gluten sensitivity. The desserts were amazing too.

Cabalen is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is fresh, authentic, delicious and the staff is kind, and very generous with the food portions. We like them so much that we hired them to cater our annual FEN Filipino Employee Network Fiesta for several years. I love eating here or taking home lunch or dinner for my family.

Great food and friendly service. Not big on most Filipino foods but the Tocino and Lumpia were awesome. The wife loved the food she ordered as well. I dont review much but that person above (Joanne A) sounds like shes talking out of her a**. Typical idiot who talks over reviews yet doesnt reveal their full name.

Food is delicious, specially karekare. Owner was very gracious to take pictures of us. We mentioned one of us is from Pennsylvania and he gave us a treat, cupcakes that are real good. We had a wonderful experience eating there.
