It might be called Cape Fear because Im afraid you might never get your food! We just stopped here today and I had to write a review because I was so appalled at the poor service. We didnt even eat so I cannot comment on the food because we left the restaurant after waiting 40 minutes AFTER placing our order and watching to tables that arrived after us receive their food. We tried to be patient and would have appreciated at at least some update from the servers on when we might expect our food to arrive. Instead, three servers stood around, laughing and joking and snacking while the quests waited for food. When two guests in a foursome received their food across from us, the other two diners said "please, go ahead . . . our plates might not arrive for another 30 minutes." When we finally did make in inquiry, they brushed of off rudely, told us that it would be another few minutes and said "do you want to wait or not?" Incredible . . . no apologies for clearly misplacing our order in the queue . . . not once did they check in to say "its coming . . . thanks for your patience." So, we said "actually no, we dont want to wait and got up to leave." As we walked out I said "I dont think well be paying for our drinks and and the older female server rudely said "did I ask you to?" Unbelievable! I hope reviews like this one remind these terribly rude folks at this spot that they are in a service industry and that good customer service should not be soooo hard to come by. And for the owners of this place . . . food should not take soooo long when you have three staff standing around while the line cooks are apparently incapable of moving through the orders either in order or in a timely fashion. Duncan Mills is quaint but there are plenty of other dining options in lovely, oceanside Jenner or inland at the quirky town of Guerneville. Vote against mean people by taking your business elsewhere.

The food is good, the flies not so much. They are everywhere! No wonder people dont sit for an extra cup of coffee or to chat a while after eating, the flies are cleaning the plates. They buzz around your hair, they land and sit on the customers at every table and the people working there seem oblivious to the fact. It is such a nice little cafe but I can only wonder what the kitchen is like if the eating area is so plagued by flies. Maybe a food safety and health inspection is overdue. UPDATE: July 14, 2016. They posted the health inspection sticker on the wall outside saying "passed". I can only figure than they bought it or that the inspector gets free meals because there is no way you can miss all the flies. Even other customers were complaining. Flies dont just bother people while they are eating, they also go into the food prep areas. How can this go on? So much for the inspection stickers, they obviously mean nothing. I have to say the wait staff have improved. The young woman working the tables is excellent, too bad the owners dont care about insect control. Some door blowers would keep them out. One table had the woman constantly waving her arms to keep the flies away, it would have been funny if it wasnt such a bad sign. It looked like she was flagging planes to land. I can only assume that reviews not mentioning all the flies are either locals who want to help out or maybe times other than the breakfast through lunch hours. After that the flies are probably full and go to sleep.

The name is fitting because I fear ever going back. Upon entering we were ignored until they finally they told us to sit wherever. We eventually got our menus dropped in front of us and then proceeded to wait 10 more minutes before they asked "What do you want?" The food was great but over priced and we ran out of water because they didnt check on us a single time. Our last interaction was standing at the counter to wait for the check that wasnt brought to us and then waiting some more for them to return our bank card.

We had an exceptional dinner at Cape Fear. All of the details were appreciated, from the delicious focaccia bread/ratatouille that was immediately brought to us, to the gorgeous and unique flower arrangement at our table. The Thai pasta salad with shrimp was excellent.....the grilled eggplant yielded a unique twist. My daughter had the Ricotta tortellini which was perfectly done---not too heavy as is often typical. I heartily recommend this restaurant! Well worth a trip with the bonus of gorgeous surroundings.

My wife and I stopped by this place for breakfast/lunch. She had the lunch, fish & chips, and I the breakfast, French toast, eggs and bacon. Both meals were fantastic. The French toast was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of cinnamon and powdered sugar, along with molasses butter on the side. The Cod in the fish & chips was extremely fresh and tender. Wed definitely eat here again the next time were in the area.

I love eating here. Im a local, and its so nice to have such a pleasant place to take my visitors. I love the food, the staff is always friendly and very customer service oriented and I am always amazed at the creation that come out of that tiny kitchen. And, they are open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I am very happy that this restaurant is here. Thumbs up, always!

The servers at this restaurant were extremely mean and the male server even cursed at me when I asked if we could sit away from the door. They never served us, stating that "our ticket must have slipped behind something." Waiting over an hour for food on a quiet morning and being cussed at by a disgruntled server are two reasons not to patronize this restaurant.

The town of Duncans Mills is just unique and wasnt expecting a good restaurant in the area .Oh I was wrong. Cafe Fear was just perfect for brunch and lunch, we had a great server and the food was super good. Portions are great, old quaint restaurant and even great shopping right outside at the shops.

Awesome little family owned cafe. They were extremely nice when myself and my group of motorcycle friends went there. They were extremely friendly and helpful. They have a decent selection of bottled craft beer which is awesome!

Delicious food in a friendly and gorgeous setting. Mixture of indoor and outdoor seating, and service is very friendly. Had the clam chowder, Angus burger, and grilled meatloaf. All awesome, and cant wait to return.

My lunch today was almost inedible. The "fresh cod" in the fish and chips was grey all the way through, not a hint of white. They shouldnt tout this as one of their specials until they know how to prepare it.

We ate here two times during our one week stay in Windsor, CA. Service was a little slow but good and the food quality was excellent plus. Try the oyster poor boy sandwich, the best i have ever had.

I had a really tasty omelette here for Sunday brunch. There was a very short wait and the food came out quickly! My omelette was delicious. The service was great and they treated my dog well.
