California style (not San Francisco or authentic) Chinese food, for many folks this is just right. Come here knowing that, and youll enjoy it. I do feel though that if a restaurant adds sugar to a dish, it should be posted and I feel I should be able it have it left off. Ill be going again and Ill check this out. (Re Generals Chicken, eggplant.) I am aghast at reading any that restaurant employee would discuss tipping, let alone request a bigger tip. A) tipping might be expected, and may be what waiters "live on", but it is still not obligatory. Its a gratuity for an average (10%) excellent (15%) and exemplary (20%) service and food experience. B) I will always tip on the subtotal (not including sales tax/corkage fees) C) Though I have never "stiffed" (0$) anybody, I would if every single thing was horrid, but in reality, Id probably leave before that point.

The food off the Set Dinner menu was very good. The wonton soup was full of vegetable and the wonton filling was flavorful and firm. The egg roll and prawn were also crisp and fresh. The entrees were well-prepared and portions were sufficient for 5 of us. The interior does not belie the former location of Cupertinos own Bobs Big Boy, and is reasonably well kept, providing a nice contrast to the traditional worn look of many Chinese restaurants. I would definitely add this to the list whenever friends are looking for very good chinese food in a nice setting. Parking can get tight during traditional meal times, but Marinas large parking lot behind the restaurant should provide some relief.

This place is a family favorite for us. We have been dining here regularly for going on three years. I can say that when it comes to the food, I have never had a bad meal here. on occasion, i have had servers who were less attentive than I would have liked but I will give them the benefit of the fact that those few times were extremely busy crowded nights. The wait staff is usually very attentive. My wife refers to the bus staff as "water ninjas" since they rarely let you drink from your glass without sneaking up silently and topping it off as soon as you set the glass down. I can not say anything truly negative about the place. We always enjoy our meals at Mandarin

This is one of the worst Chinese restaurants. And I have to say, this is the very first place where I ordered food and then dumped all of it in the trash. I mean, I have seen bad food, but this was simply inedible. And it was not cheep too.. The chow mein was bland and tasteless, the eggplants were drowned in sugary sirup, the soup was watery and bland too, mongolian beef was ultra-salty. Pretty much everything was abysmal. Do not go there! My guess is that most of the "good reviews" here are by the owner and his relatives. There is NO way on earth this place can get a good revew. No way!

I used to be a fan of Mandarin Gourmet in Cupertino until a year ago. Lately, I find the service to be impersonal, careless and the servers being impatient and rude. When I ordered my meal , everything was dumped on my table all at once including the soup, appetizers and the entrees. There was not enough room to place all this together plus I did not get to enjoy my food as I would have like to. I felt I was rushed to get out . Not a Place where you would like to be for a special occasion, the mistake I made but not any longer.

Nice place, nice staff, but the dishes were sweet and not spicy even though they were supposed to be...food came out so quick that it was clear it was already prepared...might as well have been buffet. Drink prices were good though and they made a good martini(low price made small size ok, just order two when you sit down;-). Prices were way too high for buffet food...Chinese should be prepared when ordered.

Americanized Chinese restaurant. Very good service. There were nine of us for lunch, but we were seated right away and our food came out very quickly. They were OK with me making substitutions on the lunch special menu (brown rice instead of white) but they did charge a little extra. Kept my water glass full the entire visit without me asking.

I very rarely write negative reviews of restaurants, but the chicken fried rice I ordered from here was the worst Ive ever eaten in my life. No flavor, incompletely cooked, and the quality of ingredients seemed poor. Very disappointed because Ive been searching for a gourmet Asian restaurant, and this is certainly not it.

We have been there several times. Though pricey we used to like going there because of the food quality. We had a bad experience last time we went there. When we were paying the bill the waiter insisted that we pay more tip. That was really absurd!! We did not want to make a scene there so just ended up paying extra tip.

Great hot and sour soup and appetizers. The meals are kinda salty but stick with the appetizers and soups and you will be a happy camper. The servers and hosts are always attentive, respectful, and provide all around great service. Plus it is a nice place to get a bite to eat or get take out.

The Chinese chicken salad is to die for! Ask for the sauce on the side so you can add it to your liking. Its what makes the dish, like most outstanding sauces, but they give you a ton. The rest of the menu is greeat too. Never had a bad dish. Jump in!

A very nice Chinese cuisine restaurant. People say you can tell how good they are by the hunan beef. They make delicious hunan beef that has the perfect amount of spices, or ma la. Reasonable prices for a sit down Chinese restaurant.

This used be a reliable favorite. Not any more. Party of six. Shared different entrees. Sesame chicken was dry with poor quality meat. Food was served ranging from hot to lukewarm. Water glasses not refilled for 10-15 minutes.

Very good food. My friend ordered scallops thinking it was shrimp. He still enjoyed despite the abundance of water chestnuts. Unfortunately we can never return as we only tipped 14%

I didnt know you could make flavorless curry. Servers were in a rush to get us in and out, even taking someones unfinished soup away (he got it back after protesting).

Some of the Bay Areas best Chinese food served in attractive environs and with superb service. Dont miss the Shrimp Lettuce Wraps under any circumstances!

Consistent, nicer atmosphere Cantonese style restaurant. Much much better than the one in Palo Alto. Im a big fan of the Mandarin Salad Plate for lunch.

Fantastic service and really good food. One of the nicest and upscale venue too - great for business dinners or a nice night out.
