This really breaks my heart to have to give only one star to this restaurant. I started dining at The Orient when it first opened years ago. The food was great the owners were nice it was like a mom and pop restaurant. However, recently we had food that was delivered that was not to our liking. We let it slide and just chalked it up to maybe there was a new cook. So, on Friday night we went in to order takeout to make sure they were clear as to what we ordered would be correct. For starters the initial person that helped us could not understand English. Then a second person came out and had just as much of a problem understanding and speaking English as the first person. We went ahead and tried to place an order hoping they would get it right. Well, I made the huge mistake of not checking our food before we left. Of course when we got home and checked out our food it was not correct. And to add fuel to the fire the food was terrible! So bottom line we paid a lot of money for terrible food. We later found out that the original owners had sold the business. I think in order to get the food right the people that work there must understand English. Maybe the new owner should offer their employees an ESL class? Just saying....

I love this restaurant always good... Ive been to a lot of Chinese restaurants in Sacramento and this is the one I go back to... I recommend the chicken rice noodles they are so good.. Green bean chicken with black bean sauce.. Fried prawns...n I sometimes get orange chicken or sweet n sour chicken but with the sauce on the side so every bite is crispy...The owners have always been so nice n they always help u even when you ask for a substitution or if you dont like something you can just let them know and they will leave it out... I love it... Hot n sour soup n egg flower is bomb n fresh... Try it!!!

I always thought this was a good restaurant but the food is always on the dry side when you order a dish and white rice i always like to have some sauce to put over my rice when i asked the waitress for extra sauce he told me it was going to cost me more money. I thought that was pretty rude me being a customer that use to like eating there but i guess somebody has to pay for the ugly remodel of the restaurant , will never eat at this place again.

Sometimes things change for the better. This was my families once a month go to place for Chinese food but the owners apparently swap with owners of another restaurant now and then. Not sure the details but in a few short months we have come to realize this isnt our go to place anymore. The quality has slipped and the new team still seems to be struggling with getting their bearings. Time to try new places.

It was all a total disaster. I asked for hot mustard and everything hot. What I go was like 12 soy sauce packets, one hot mustard. one sweet and sour and nothing else. This was for a six people meal. This is a fu**ing shame for all involved. I have pushed this food for so long and now Im so disappointed that I (and my friends) will never deal with this restaurant again!

Their dishes are flavoraful and delicious. That is coming from an Asian who knows. They give large portions with plenty of chicken, pork, beef and seafood in the dishes. The meat are always lean without fat like other restaurants. Never been disappointed with any meals. Service is fast for take outs and in restaurant alike. My favorite go to Chinese Restaurant.

Not the worst not the best, just OK. There was a time (10+ years ago) when the original owner made exceptional food with top ingredients. Now dishes the menu states are made with all white breast meat (chicken) are made with cheaper cuts of dark meat and skin. Like I said, not terrible, but not worth a repeat visit.

Great food. Were very picky when it comes to Chinese food. This place isnt fancy but it tastes great and the price is reasonable. Portions are large. #4 adults including drinks $60.00. We will be back! Friendly with great service. I recommend the beef chow fun, broccoli and beef and sesame chicken.

Food plain noodles in chow mein were over cooked in also had the fried rice I barely seen any eggs in the fried rice it was really just rice with soy sauce. The soup was nasty the only thing I liked was the fresh fruit

Fabulous !! Authentic Chinese !! The horrible offensive review of someone who is ignorant was unwarranted and unnecessary. For a real treat, order the spicy dumplings but get the spicy sauce on the side !
