Ive never written a review in the past, good or bad, but I feel the need to share my experience of last night at Mr. Chow 344 N Camden Dr Los Angeles... At 7:30 pm I met an out of town business contact who had requested we meet at this restaurant. I felt we were rushed because we were not drinking enough wine for the waitstaff. Our waiters (3rd day on the job and no older than 25) demeanor was distinctly condescending when we asked if there were other options the the pre- fixe choices, so we went with "his choices". We had an o.k. lettuce cups, tasty spring rolls, venison that was swamped in a mystery sauce, wonderful green beans, and duck that was dry and tasteless. At 10pm my dinner companion paid and so I dont know what the bill was. I am very certain however that at about 3:30 am this morning until 4pm today, Ive been doubled up on the bathhroom floor or on the toilet..... I will spare you the gruesome details. NEVER have I had such painful abdominal cramps ! I am an otherwise healthy 40 yr old male with a reputation for an iron stomach...... I realize the food poisoning is very very difficult to prove and I cant in this case, however itll be a long time til I even drive past Mr Chow let alone eat there. Eat there at your risk !

I have been going here for 20 years and the service is impeccable (Chris is the best damn Maitre D around) and the food is different and packed with flavor. Some people who are Chinese that I know dont like the food but it does not tout itself as being "traditional." It is food with flare and every single dish is a slam dunk. ADDITIONALLY - I cannot eat gluten and typically shy away from Chinese Food restaurants. Mr. Chow not only prepared food for me with gluten-free soy sauce but they grabbed my plate from me when I put a gluten item on my plate and transferred my food to a clean plate. They were so incredibly lovely about it!! Also, the crispy beef and salt and pepper shrimp are prepared with corn starch so they are GLUTEN FREE ALL THE WAY!! I cant wait to dine here for another 20 years.

I visited Mr Chows on 7/28/2017. I was very disappointed with the food and the service, especially for the money that I spent in this restaurant. First and foremost, the place is too small. I was actually bumping elbows with the party next to me. We had to slide the table out in order for my guest to go to the ladies room. I couldnt identify the lamb that I ordered; it was shaved like Gyro meat. The Potstickers were gummy. The fried rice did not have any flavor at all. What a disappointment! I spent $133.83 on a meal for two. I tried Mr. Chows and Ill say that its nothing to write home about. No stars from me!. Ill never eat there again.

I was surprised by the shabby-chic furniture, but the overall atmosphere was quite nice. The dark colors with white table cloths gave the room a more modern feel. Mr. Chows was not at all what I expected from all of the hype. The food was decent, but our chicken and lobster were both overcooked and the filet was average. The sea bass, snow pea sprouts and berry torte were absolutely heavenly and made up for the poor preparation of the other dishes. We experienced great difficulty having drinks refilled. If you are into going somewhere to watch someone famous eat, then this is your place. If you are into great cuisine, its not.

VERY OVERRATED ... AND VERY NOT WORTH IT, IF YOU TRULY BELIEVE THIS PLACE IS THE BEES KNEES THEN YOU HAVE NEVER TASTED TRULY DELICIOUS CHINESE FOOD, I WOULD RATHER GO TO CHINATOWN OR EVEN PANDA EXPRESS, THEN TO GO HERE AGAIN, AND IF YOU TRULY BELIEVE THAT JUST BECAUSE A PLACE IS OVERLY PRICED THEN IT AUTOMATICALLY MAKES IT GOOD AND SO WORTH IT , THEN YOU SHOULD BE HANGED AND ALL YOUR MONEY SHOULD GO TO SOMEONE WHO HAS BETTER TASTE AND MORE COMMON SENSE THEN YOU. ONLY THING ABOUT THIS PLACE THATS WORTH MENTIONING IS .... NOTHING...

Diana has hit the nail on the head. This place is beyond overrated. The food is extremely average and not at all authentic Chinese food. The food isnt even particularly creative. And you will pay 4 times what you would pay at some other average Chinese restaurant (dishes were $25-$50 per plate). The decor is nice, and there tend to be a lot of famous people around, but I go to a restaurant for the food and the service. I prefer to go to Mandarette, but I would drop my dog off at Mr. Chow to eat the garbage they serve.

Wow, such mixed emotions about this place. The wait, even with a reservation, was excessive. On the other hand, the bartender who took care of us during out wait was amazing; great drinks and great conversation. Obviously the place was busy, with everyone extremely well dressed. We shared a couple of appetizers. The lobster dim sum was tasty. We then shared the filet with a side of shrimp-fried rice. Tasty but certainly petite. Overall we had a good time but certainly paid for the location vs just the food.

This place sucks. Portions are tiny, food is average, prices are super high. Im a younger person (25) who has never once felt a restaurant is "too noisy" and laugh when my grandparents say that about a place...but i couldnt even hear the people talking from across the table. Waiters are snooty. But the most disappointing part was how average/below average the food was and how small the portions were for the price. Stay away from mr. chow...awful experience.

The hunters duck came out looking as though it was recycled from the previous table. The food is blah by any means. The pancakes are flour tortillas! Probably just a good place to be seen not actually eat anything and that as a restaurant my friends is unfortunate. Amazing service and attention to detail. Lettuce wraps had too much thought put in to them. Dry. Uneatable without hot sauce provided.

had dinner after a two year plus absence. their squab in lettuce cups is listed as squab but in small print "diced chicken". indeed, on service it wasflavorless bland diced chicken. the lobster 3 ways was one way and bad.every dish was over sauced, sugared and crude. the dessert key lime cheesecake tasted like it had recently been thawed. service was as oilyand bad as the food.

Must be living off old reputation. Most uncomfortable restaurant I have been in over the past couple of years by a wide margin. They had 6 of us crammed onto a 4 top. Food was bland and waiter messed up order. The Mr Chow noodles were ok but the rest was like any low end Chinese place just with less flavor. The chef making noodles in the dining area was entertaining.

Disappointing! Dont go there if youre looking for a true Chinese food. I cant tell you about their Peking duck cause it goes only with a $75/p family dinner package for at least 3 persons (we were two). The one they suggested instead was too dry and too small for $42. Dont even think about trying the cocktails- they are really horrible.
