100% recomendable

This ones a toughie. Lots to like, but a lot thats pretty annoying. Quick summary: - Drinks: 4 stars - Food: 3.5 stars - Ambiance: 2.5 inside, 4 outside - Service: 3.5 stars - Price: 4 stars (as in, pretty good value) My friend had some beer that she liked (gee, could I be more specific? sorry :P) and I had a pomegranate cider. Didnt have a very strong pom flavor, but I liked it nonetheless because it was flavorful, not too sweet, and not a pansy cider like Ive had in other places here in the States. The garlic bread was really delicious. Mmmm... fresh garlic cloves. Thankfully we both ate this :). Salad: seemed pretty tasty and fresh, nothing out of this world. Pizzas: one was good, the other was okay (a bit overpowered by the toppings, not enough sauce). Crust is yummy, but Ive certainly had better pizza elsewhere. I liked that the portions were quite generous for the price, though. Service: rather decent. The waitress exchanged a salad that *we* had misordered without any fuss whatsoever, and -- despite the crowd -- seemed generally pretty patient and nice. Ambiance: Crowded but nice outside (shielded from the street, and featuring live music). Inside... just way, way too dang loud. My friend and i had to scoot our chairs to be inches apart so we could hear each other. Id consider coming here again, but probably not on a Saturday night and likely only if there was room outside.

Id give this place a 0 if i could. My husband and I took his father to Jupiter for his birthday. After seating ourselves several menus were plopped on our table without a word from the waitress who then disappeared for an unreasonably long amount of time. There were only four other patrons besides ourselves. When she finally decided to come back to our table she asked my father-in-law what he would like to drink. He was looking at the menu and said "Well, I think.." and then the waitress interrupted him, saying shed come back later. She then turned around and started leaving. I called after her, saying that my husband and I would like some water at least. She turned around with an exasperated sigh, as if us asking her to do her job was some how incredibly straining. After then waiting over 15 minutes to get WATER, she came back. There was NO ICE in my drink and she spilled it all over the table when she put it down. After several more encounters like this, we decided that a good tip was absolutely not in order so left only the standard 15%. After we started leaving she tracked us down and accosted my husband in an unbelievably rude manner and told us that we "need it more than her" and returned the tip. If this is customer service at Jupiter, we will definitely NOT BE RETURNING.

Stopped in after grabbing some pizza at Fat Slice a couple blocks away (highly recommended). BART station is conveniently located right across the street. The place was pretty packed including the seating outside out back where a fire was going. Lots of college kids (imagine that in a college town like Berkeley) and pretty noisy. The bar is covered in a sheet of copper and only has seating for less then 10. The entire place is seat yourself. The bar staff were very friendly and open to conversation even though they were really busy. A rope operated drink elevator to get the beers up to the second floor was pretty cool. 20 standard taps line the back wall of the bar and there are 4 nitro taps at one end of the bar. 13 of those taps are guest brews. The few house beers they did have on were all light (lager, Pilsner, wheat, etc) and the bartender encouraged me to drink the guest brews unless I was really into light beers. I had already eaten but the menu looked decent and the stuff others were getting looked good. The bathrooms are located outside and across the hall from the main entrance. Overall Jupiter is a great place to hang out, meet new people, and have some great beer.

I love this place. I go here for lunch with coworkers and on weekends and evenings with friends and family. I see from my own profile that Ive forgotten to check in quite a few times, I guess when Im there Im just thinking about the food and the people. I have tried most of the pizzas on the menu and loved them all. The appetizers are great and the service staff have always been friendly and helpful. I only have two bad things to say about Jupiter: Its difficult to keep drinks filled up, I often run out and have to wait for more (Ill finish my soda and my water and still wait before someone asking if I want more). The second is how you find a seat: you have to vulture. Im not super comfortable in uncontrolled environments like Jupiter and can honestly say that were I ever to go there solo and found there were no free tables I would just leave instead of trying to grab one as it came available. This is especially true when its a busy time and the unseated are circling around and you have people at some of the smaller tables ready to leap to a larger one when it opens up. Have someone take my name and then give me a table and Id be a much happier person.

I am writing this review not light heartedly. We do like the pizza at Jupiters. I have been going to Jupiter regularly in the last years. Their Hefeweizen is also quite good but not all the times (I am from Bavaria). A few weeks ago we had dinner there and I went to the restroom. A cook came out of the stall when I just wanted to wash my hands. He had his rubber gloves on and passed by the sink, spat in the basket and without washing his hands went out the door. When I left the restroom I just saw him disappearing in the kitchen. Telling the staff this story I got the comment that it might not have been a cook but a dishwasher.....thanks very much that made me feel much better........cleanliness and hygiene does not seam to be their highest priority.....
