I have heard so much about DTF that it was about time that I finally tried it. DTF is an international brand and also very authentic so its a must try if youre into that sort of thing which I am. We were in the neighborhood for the sriracha factory tour and after all that walking, etc. it really made us hungry. So where to go for lunch? Um, DTF of course. Even though its been around for a while, its still very popular and the lines can get a bit crazy. Luckily, we got in just before the rush and were seated within 20 minutes. Since Im a newbie to the DTF experience, I let the experts pick my order and requested they at least get me the XLB - the xiao long bao (juicy pork dumplings). DTF is known for these. Our table ended up getting nothing but dumplings and I was ok with that. After all, thats what its known for and what I was craving even though it was a hot day. Needless to say but the XLB did not disappoint. I could have eaten them all by myself and we also got another order because, why not? Theyre just that good. We also got the pork and crab and basically every other dumpling they had. They are simply melt in your mouth amazing. Service is quick, fast and abrupt and not really that friendly. Theyre just here to make sure you get your order as fast as possible and also keep your drink refilled so take that as you will. We didnt mind it. We didnt really want overly friendly service anyway because we were so lost in our dumplings. They would just clear plates out, refill, bring more dumplings and leave. I think thats actually how I prefer service - quick, simple, and fast. Overall, a great experience and I cant wait to go back.

This is the Arcadia #2 Din Tai Fung, a slightly more dressed up version of Arcadia #1 Din Tai Fung. If youre looking to impress or need a more formal setting, choose this location over Arcadia #1. Known for their xiaolongbao (XLB) or soup dumplings, Din Tai Fung has garnered a cult following. Our group of five came early to the restaurant, and we were one of the first people in when they opened at 5:30. All the servers speak both English and Chinese and everyone is friendly and helpful. Din Tai Fung is known for their tasty food and excellent service, which from my experience here is true. We ordered: +Wood ear mushrooms in a vinegar dressing +Sautéed spinach with bean curd and wine +Fried pork chop +Shanghai rice cakes with pork +Beef noodle soup +Pork XLB +Truffle and pork XLB +Pork and crab XLB The beef noodle soup is very good. The noodles are hand cut and the broth is very aromatic. Wood ear mushrooms, spinach, pork chop, and rice cakes are all good too. My favorite XLB is the pork one. For value and taste, its the best hands down. The truffle and pork XLB is very good too, but its $21.50 for 5 of them so they are the priciest of the XLB. I could have done without the pork and crab, honestly. For dessert, we ordered red bean and sweet taro XLB. I had no idea that they made XLB with these dessert pastes so that was pretty cool. Red bean beats taro in my book any day.

So after wandering the mall and leaving nordstrom with my wife we decided to try out this new place so i goto the receptionist proceed to put my name and number but apparently i left my phone at home so i tell the receptionist this and she tells me to just wait in the area to be called on and the wait should be atmost 15min. So i waited...and waited and watched how they made like 300 dumpling and as i was waiting parties of 2 and 4 were signing in and being seated like nothing and that got me a bit mad but i said to myself whatever because casual racism (all the other parties that came after me were asian) and kept on waiting til the 15min mark. At this point my wife was pissed and asked the receptionist when we are going to be seated and tells her because we dont have a phone you have to ask the other receptionist across from us and upon hearing those words i said screw it and left to go eat at the food court. My dining experienced ruined because i dont have a phone on me? I never knew you needed a phone to eat...Ima just stick to Caffe Concerto when i want to sit down relax and eat. and by the way let me tell you how great Panda Express was, maybe it was the hunger or the eating fake asian food out of spite or maybe it was both BUT DAMN was it amazing. 2/5 Stars would ha e given this place a 1/5 but because Panda Express was great it gets 2

Location: Arcadia, CA. Ethnics: Asian. Today I went there with my wife just for craving of the dumplings. Last time I went was 4-5 years ago with some not-so pleasant experience. As a sucker as I can be, I was disappointed again this time. Representation is on par, dishes looks enticing and very photogenic. However, it is lacking major taste. I mean there is no taste in some of the dishes, not just a matter of salt or seasoning, for instance the meat inside the dumpling is lacking the full taste I had previously in Taipei or Shanghais DTF. The vermicelli tofu meat wrapper soup is to be highly avoided! It is just plain water base, not soup base. The Chinese tamale is lacking taste as well. Only yummy thing I can think of is the fried rice with pork chop and sesame/peanut noodle. This place needs a major QC overhaul. But I maybe wrong, business is as always booming, always lines queued outside. DTF is gaining traction big time worldwide with cult following, but food quality of this US location is sub-par, if youve ever been to DTFs Taipei or China stores, you will know what I am talking about. To me, the hype is ongoing, but I am not joining until it gets better QC on some of the dishes. Probably see them again in another couple years?

Horrible service! Server tiff took our order and said the ribs would take 20 min. The. Returned with our drinks and said they would take 40 min and she was going on break. She said another tiffany would watch us while she was gone. We never seenanypne until a guy brought our food and then never seen anyone. I has to go find some one for our check. I called the manager Sean and told him this. He asked for check numbers and said he wanted to verify some things and would call me back. He called me back and said yes you are right she took her 30 min break at the same time you had your meal. Which is exactly what I had told him. So he assumed I was likening or something. He then said we never want you to have bad service. We will buy you desert next time. I spent $100 and never got a refill never got napkins or anything we needed I had to go find someone to get our bill and you think a $5 desert the next time I spend another 100 fixes that? Wow horrible service. And a fail by the manager. We will never go to the arcadia location again.
