This place is great! I ordered the sampler, it included 4 orders of meat or seafood and four sides. I selected the tri tip, smoked links, ribs and oysters. For sides I got cole slaw, pasta salad, mac and cheese, and "flips" (home made potato chips) The portions were huge, the sides themselves would constitute a meal on their own. The spicy BBQ sauce was great but I believe the meat would have held its own without it. The rib meat just slid off the bone using a plastic fork (i believe they give you plastic to minimize damage incase someone gets too close to your meat platter and instinctively you try and defend your food) the tri tip was tender, perfect texture in every bite. The smoked links were sliced to maximize surface area to make them an effective sauce delivery device. All four sides were on point also. I believe I took more food home than I ate there, and Im not a little guy. I cant wait to digest so I can finish my left overs. Great prices for the quality and quantity, you will not go home hungry. Too many times at other places the portions were small, with part of it too tough or full of grizzle to eat all of it, simply not a problem here. Every single bite was perfect. Give them a try, if you like BBQ you owe it to yourself.

My whole family is from down south, so please excuse our frankness on this matter...first of all if you want some slammin BBQ go to Lucilles in Rocklin. The mac and cheese bland nasty, cornbread dry, sweet tea and water gross. Ribs alright nothing to scream about...Yams missing a few ingredients. Mac and cheese should be smack your lips cheesy and seasoned well, the velveeta store baught taste is less than impressive. Cornbread should almost have the consistency of cake, not store baught biscuits. Yams atleast try marshmellows if you dont have the seasoning down for Yams. We spent quite a bit of money, and had to go somewhere else to eat. House of Chicken and Ridicoulous. Just because you black dont mean you have the science of southern cooking down. All you who give great reviews eithier have never had real southern cooking and dont know better, competition isnt that steep, or because they are black owned and you wanna support, much respect we need more black entrepreneurs, but my southern bell grandma would roll over in her grave if she tasted this soul food today. Oh yes watery greens man today was bad

The people that work here were very attentive, I will give them that. We were coming to Sacramento for the evening for some entertainment, we looked on line, saw the five stars, read a couple of reviews,so we decided to go there. We go to a lot of BBQ places all over the country. I dont know how to say it other than this was the worst. I got the chicken and ribs combo. Both were so overcooked, that it was like they had been in a steamer tray for hours. It looks like they cook on an open grill in front of the store, and then throw it, in warmers untill they seve it for dinner. No smoking involved. My daughter had the tri tip, it was Ok. We got an order of the catfish and thought that it was the best we have had in a long time, breaded and seasoned perfectly. This is the first time I have ever felt that the food was bad enough to write a review. Call it baked chicken and ribs just dont call it BBQ. Obviously some people like it, but if you want Kansas City or Memphis style BBQ this is not it. Sorry to the owners, they seem like nice people.

OMG ! This is the best place to go if your hungry . By far the best place to go for the best ribs ,chicken, greens corn bread, Cole slaw . You can taste the love that you only used to get when Mom cooked. The people are very friendly and they go out of their way to make sure your happy. I go there every time I come to town . This will blow your mind but this is how awesome this place is . I came in to town wensday and called in my order when I got there my card wouldnt work and it was closing time. They seen I was having issues with my bank . They came and gave me my order , said enjoy the meal . I said what ? They said go and enjoy the meal . Thats right they gave me what I ordered. I mean who does that ? THE HOUSE OF CHICKEN AND RIBS. And the meal was AWESOME. The meat falls off the bone , omg Yummy. You could enjoy this meal if you teethless, Im not even joken. Terrifying experience! I came to the conclusion that the owner is just crazy! After ordering our food we sat down, naturally looking around I glanced over at the man cutting the meat, which later I found out was the owner. He yelled at me just for glancing over and told me to "RELAX..(profanity)....!!" and immediately he started using profanity. After, this my husband and I asked for a refund. Once, he seen us asking for a refund he went on a rage using all sorts of profanity, while there were other customers and kids in there!! I couldnt believe what had happened, I dont know if it was just a really bad day for him. I definitely will NEVER go back, as the way he acted was unbelievably unprofessional. If the man is going to own a business he needs to learn to be civilized!!

I got their chicken and ribs, which you would probably think would be great, considering thats the name of this place. The chicken was pink, completely undercooked, so I didnt eat it (I prefer not to get sick). The pork ribs were dry and chewy. The bbq sauce was water at the bottom of the box with a little bit of what kind of tasted like bbq sauce. Literally the WORST BBQ I have ever had. I also had the Mac n cheese with was mediocre and the potato salad which tasted like it was fresh... out of a can. I wish there was something I could say that would make this place worth trying but giving people undercooked chicken I think might be a health code violation. So if youre not a fan of salmonella, Id steer clear of this place.

We just made our first cross-town trek from Folsom to Antelope to eat at The House of Chicken and Ribs. All I can honestly say is that if you’re into chain-restaurant type BBQ, this is not the place for you. This is a mom & pop joint that cooks the kind of food that most of us either dont have the time or skill to make. Its good, hearty, tasty food served by a group of folks who seem to enjoy what they do. The owner makes a sincere effort to greet all his guests, but dont be disappointed if he doesnt come over to say hi, remember he does run a busy restaurant. It was definitely worth the 28 mile round trip for us and we plan to return asap to try other items on the menu.

After reading many of the reviews here, Id expected good things. When I got there, the place was packed! I ordered a full rack of ribs, chicken and a lot of sides. The ribs seemed like theyd been under a heating lamp for way too long. The meat was very greasy and dry. The chicken was the same. Seemed like itd been under a heat lamp for too long. The sides tasted like theyd been previously frozen. Nothing had that "made fresh" taste. If the fried okra didnt come from a bag, Id be shocked. The macaroni and cheese was bland and tasted worse than something Id get in the freezer section. Did I just come on a bad day? I definitely wont be coming back to see.
