IMPORTANT: MUST READ IF YOU HAVE KIDS!! My 5.5 year old son was standing by the drink cooler in the front of the restaurant where you order food. He was calmly looking at what drink he wanted to get. One of the cooks who serves food walked out from the kitchen to where my son was standing and grabbed the back of his shirt by the collar and pulled it back. I saw this out of the corner of my eye and then he gave my son an intimidating look. This is not ok. I realized after seeing this cook that hes the same person who two weeks prior, I heard him tell a one year old who was clumsily walking around the restaurant and I guess he felt this baby was in his way, "get back to your table baby." I called the restaurant afterwards and spoke with the manager. She was very understanding, said she would speak with him, document it, and that she had never had a problem with him doing something like this before. FYI - the man was caucasian, he has long brown hair that was pulled back into a low pony tail, he has a beard and mustache, tattoos on his arms, and was wearing a black beanie hat.

Theyve only been open a couple of days, but Blue Dot is great. Ive had two mochas from them, while VPNing in to my work via their wifi (I work from "home" full time, and thus spend a lot of time in cafes, working), and that is generally my measure of a cafe- How good their mochas are as well as how fast their service is. The service was quick, but of course no one knows about this place yet. I am sure when word gets out this place will be a madhouse. Blue Dot is sure to be a hit when people find out out about it. The menu looks great, although I have only had their banana bread. They even have a couple of kids chairs by the window. My only criticisms would be that the wall colour is a little "cool". It could use a wall of dark orange to warm the place up, and some better light fixtures than the florescents, as well as some more comfy chairs in the corners, but holy cow are those nitpicks. Good space, friendly staff, great coffee, and of course the jury is out about the food because I havent eaten it, although the "pesto sandwich" looks like a winner...

I am a current student who loves to study at coffee houses and Blue Dot is a great place to study. Nice atmosphere and the employees are very welcoming to students spending hours there with their noses in books. The coffee is nothing spectacular in my opinion (its still good though... but tasted a bit burnt), but the charm and atmosphere of the place more then makes up for it. It would be nice if they had longer hours on the weekends (especially Sundays). I have only had the egg sandwich there, but it was pretty good and came quick. :) All in all a wonderful place to study and hang out with friends!

Terrible food. Poor service. I love the location of this cafe, but stay away from the food. Ive had breakfast and lunch there. It is very bland, poorly cooked, just actually quite terrible. Oddly the kids breakfast comes with a poached egg. When I asked to get scrambled eggs instead (how may toddlers like poached eggs?) I was harangued by the cook. Sorry, I gave it a chance but thumbs down.

Good food and Coffee. This is a really informal place and sort of a hang out and I will come back again for the food but it can be very noisy or very quiet: I suggest you bring earplugs. Free wifi works but its a bit slow. Its a really nice local place with different food then you might get elsewhere. I believe they have free coffee refills.

Breakfast options favor sweet than savory -- waffles, baked goods vs eggs which are available only poached or part of a breakfast sandwich. Local artwork adorns the walls, free wifi, community atmosphere that is family friendly.

Not that great. Crowded with losd kids, slow service. Advoid it. Food better acrosd the street. This cafe is going down hill now. They dont care much it seems even our friends have stopped going there due to waste of time.

Meh. Inconsistent. Wife was pregnant and craving their oatmeal which can be good or horrible. Got home, no fixins and it was cold. Bummed pregnant wife. Emailed them about the inconsistency, no reply. Go for coffee.

Very nice breakfast place. Unfortunately a bit victim of its success, staff are getting stress and tend to be over crowded on weekend brunch. A year ago I would have given 4 stars.

My favorite local place to hang out and catch a meal, meet up for coffee, or just read the paper while relaxing. Good folks, good food, good location. Nuff said.

I remember years ago, I asked if they made their corned beef hash from scratch. They didnt. Now they do. And there was much rejoicing.
