I am very appreciative of the creativeness/deliciousness of this restaurant. Id go daily if I could. It used to be a food truck (which they still have), but now is also a brick & mortar location. They make asian versions of southern staples. It is a totally laid back atmosphere with reasonably priced, ballin food. Even though we shared the appetizers with another couple, I put them on my tab. Not counting my beers, the two apps & two entrees came out to $40. SO reasonable for being as full and satisfied as we were. Apps: -Lobster kimchi fritters, ponzu aioli -Galloping Horses - ground pork, peanuts, Thai aromatics, sweet chili sauce, Bibb lettuce Entrees: -(my wife) Spicy chicken & dumplings (all of our fave from the truck) - rice cake dumplings, shiitakes, onions, black bean chili -(myself) Root beer & ginger braised beef short rib, mashed potatoes, tobacco onions, wasabi jus (mouth still watering) The moral of this novel is that you could go here and have a blast without breaking the bank.

Southern Gourmasian has received a lot of attention since they opened, and it is ALL deserved. Id had some food from their food truck once, which was amazing, but Id never made it to their restaurant before. Located in a nice storefront downtown, the restaurant has reclaimed wood on the walls, and a cool, comfortable vibe. The staff is friendly and efficient, but you never feel rushed. They have a good selection of beers from local breweries, and a good wine selection as well. I tried the Shrimp and Grits and the Korean Fried Chicken. The Shrimp and Grits was lovely, a nice balance of flavors and textures. Would definitely have it again. The fried chicken was very good as well, nice and crunchy, with some amazing spicy collard greens on the side (highlight of the night for me!), and Jalapeno cornbread. If you havent been, GO. Easily one of the best restaurants in Little Rock.

I first had the spicy chicken and dumplings on a cold December night at a food truck meetup. As I stood with my back to a blazing hot chiminea and took my first bite, I knew my life would never be the same. I supported the restaurant on Kickstarter and continue to be a loyal patron of the brick-and-mortar version. I probably kept the lights on for a while buying their food every week. Im trying to make my own lunches most of the time these days, but I still get a craving for those dumplings, and theyre right down the street from work, so... Anyway, definitely a place to eat if youre in the mood for a Southern twist on Asian deliciousness.

So very good! If you crave good Asian food that is far beyond the norm this is your spot! Have wanted to go forever and finally stopped by and was not disappointed! Lobster fritters for app were super tasty, I got the steamed buns. Buns were good sauce was a little overpowering before I squeezed the lime on. My sister got the shrimp and grits, the grits are course with fresh corn mixed in with perfect good sized shrimp but the kicker to that dish is the sauce!!! Wrapped up the meal with the "bread pudding" now while perfectly delicious this is not bread pudding... More like a cake ala mode that already has the ice cream melted.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was good. I liked the decor and there was ample seating. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The shrimp seemed to taste slightly burnt. I wasnt entirely impressed, however, I had never had anything that included sorghum vinaigrette, so it may just have been my palette. I saw other items on the menu that I was interested in trying and will most likely return to do so. I will update this review when I visit again. Overall, the service was great. The food came out within 10 minutes of ordering and was hot from being straight off the cooking line.

I had a bacon and egg salad, which was as tasty as a salad could get, but for $8, it wasnt all that substantial. There were 3 of us for lunch, my friends burger came out without any of the items hed ordered, just a plane burger on a bun. We politely complained and the burger was taken away. By the time a replacement had arrived the other two of us had finished eating, so as a dining experience it went badly. Having said that my friends burger was taken off the bill and he said it tasted good, so they did their best to fix the mistake.

Ive learned over multiple visits to Southern Gourmasian that they have fantastic food... sometimes. The pork belly corn dogs are fantastic. So is the brunch, though its only available on Saturdays which is a real bummer. Would not recommend the shrimp and grits, though. Although it looked great at first, the grits were swimming in oil and tasted only of liquid smoke. I most likely will not go back for a while.

I had the Balinese Chicken Steamed Bun; homemade chips and Mango Salsa (awesome). It was DELICIOUS. We went at noon and it was crowded so the wait was long to get our food BUT oh so worth it! I will definitely return...SOON. Great food; great prices. Loved the rustic atmosphere. Please stay open downtown; our choices for good food are pretty limited. Im giving it 4 stars only because of the wait.

One of the best new Little Rock restaurants. Great staff and owner and management and even better food. Not one bad thing on the menu, you cant go wrong, also decent quantities for the price. Lunch is affordable, though there is a lunch crowd in the week. Several different items means everyone in a group can get what they want just about.

I have been eating at Southern Goumasian for about a year now and I thoroughly enjoy it every time! Ive had many different variations of Ramen in my lifetime, and Ive never had a version quiet like SGs. By far my favorite ramen noodle soup. The flavor combination of the broth, poached egg, and smoked dashi will leave you wanting more.

Being a pescatarian I highly recommend the shrimp and grits! Its always delicious. And if youre there the right time of year and they have smores cookies, holy shoot those are sweet and AMAZING! Im proud to be a KivaZip lender for this brick and mortar location! Keep up the good work! Oh, and please more seafood options! Pretty please!

I always get the pork steamed buns and they are so good. I had never had steamed buns before this place and I think theyre delicious. I have also had the pork sandwich and it was delicious. the flavor is great and this is a restaurant I crave often.

Southern food with an Asian twist. I had the crab cake sandwich, it came with Asian slaw and home made potato chips. The sandwich and slaw were great, the potato chips left something to be desired. Not your "run of the mill" burger joint.

Food is good for the price. Waitress I have had twice now is surly as heck. I dont expect sparkling conversation but something beyond "What do you want to drink?", "Ready?" and "Here" (when she brought my food) might be nice.

This place is amazing! Utterly unique fusion comfort food with tons if heart and flavor. I recommend everything, but their take on ramen in particular is out if this world. One of my favorite places in the city. :)

The menu is so approachable its hard to choose! We had the Thai fried chicken and spicy chicken and dumplings- both were incredible. Service was great! Cant wait to go back to try more dishes.
