My wife and I celebrated our wedding reception here almost two years ago, had not been back to dine here since, and we were anxious to return. Unfortunately we did not have a pleasant experience tonight. Something seemed not quite right about what was once an upscale dining experience. The music was strange, there was a large flatscreen TV above the kitchen playing Julia Childs cooking shows, and the waitstaff seemed much younger and not as refined. The menus were no longer printed daily, and the tables seemed much too close together for any type of private conversation. We ordered the calamari to start. The breading was so thick, you really didnt know it was actually calamari. My wifes scallops were actually very good, but my beef tenderloin was cooked well done instead of the medium i had ordered. I sent the steak back and requested the scallops. Finally, we were not made aware that it was happy hour, we did not receive the amuse bouche, bread, or any visit from the manager, as others around us did. Upon leaving, we stopped at the host station, and were told that the restaurant had been through a "Change in concept." This may be due to the economy, and that is truly a shame. We will not return.

The staff treated our group like we were poor and didnt have any money to spend on dinner and drinks. They also told us that all of the tables had reservations and when we were finally seated, NONE of the tables around us filled up, it was almost empty in the restaurant. I have never received service as bad as this place. I ordered a sangria, the waitress "forgot" that I ordered it, whilst I waited over 30 minutes to receive my drink. This place is just all over terrible service. If I could rate them 0/5 stars I would. The food was not that great for the price, and when I finally got my sangria it was so heavily spiced with cinnamon I could barely drink it. Hopefully they have improved since I went there, as it was 2 years ago, and I finally got around to reviewing this place.

I went to top of the rock after my commencement ceremonies from college to celebrate with my mom and sister. We remembered how good it used to be in the 1990s. Not anymore. The menu is extremely limited. With such a small menu youd expect them to cook the dishes well. They did not. When my mom asked for bread, they brought some rolls that looked like they were from the grocery store down the street. The waitress barely bothered to talk to us. The once great restaurant with the scenic views is now a lowly shadow of its former glory. I advise people I know not to go there. They ruined what was supposed to be a great night for me. Rally awful food and service.

I came to eat here a little over a month ago with a friend and let me tell you, this was the BEST dinning experience Ive ever had. It was all thanks to our waitress Amy! Amy was very welcoming, she answered every question we had thoroughly, and she had a personality that could light up the whole room. We talked with her, laughed, and even shared our mutual musical interests! She found a song with my name in it lol. Amy is an amazing human being through and through and she definitely helped make our night. I strongly suggest anyone who attends this restaurant ask for Amy specifically. Shes one of a kind :)

Service and food both sucked. Took an HOUR before our server took our food order. My wife asked for water, we finally got after 2 reminders and 30 min later. Portions on food are so small and the food itself isnt great. Not worth the price. The waitress could care less and pretty much ignored us all night. And NO they were not remotely busy. We are at a Dennys right now and have already gotten FAR better service AND food! Avoid this restaurant if unless you like to wait all night for food and like sub par food for top restaurant prices.

We went for Thanksgiving Dinner because my brother was still moving in to his new home. It was perfect. All our meals were prepared perfectly. The presentation was awesome. For the first time in years I had excellent pumpkin pie that I didnt have to make myself. We were seated outside and there was a chilly breeze so they brought a space heater right next to us. The view was impressive. The staff was friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I went to the Top of the Rock for our anniversary on Saturday night. We went early - 6:30 pm and it was not busy at all. We were seated promptly and brought water. We read the menu and were trying to figure out which bottle of wine to order... We waited and waited and a server never came to greet us or tell us it would be a few minutes. Again, they were NOT busy. After 15 minutes we left. We went to the Keg and had a great meal.

Tad overpriced. The view is wonderful, service was good, the restaurant was beautiful. Food was a tad underwhelming. Not bad, just not as adventurous as one would hope. Sides that came with the main course seemed to be a bit of an after thought. The food was good but for the price i would hope for a little more. Also, the wine list needs work. It was pretty much all $10 liquor store bottles marked up to $40.

Aside from the view, nothing here was worth even going. Everything was just okay - the food and drinks were mediocre, at best, service was alright, and the prices were just absurd given the quality of food (1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and two drinks was over $100). There are so many better places in the Valley that truly offer amazing food and service for a similar price.

We dined at Café Monarch just prior to the announcement that this is the most romantic restaurant in Arizona. The garden setting lends itself to intimate dining with twinkling lights and European style fountains. The Café Monarch is indeed perfect for couples celebrating special moments, although we saw many small groups of close friends also enjoying the atmosphere.

Celebrated a birthday dinner as first time diners and enjoyed our experience. The lounge had live acoustic music and a decent happy hour, which was nice. Our waitress was fantastic, very energetic and passionate about the menu, one of the better servers we have had. The food was good as well, I just wish the lights had been dimmed a bit more in the dining room.

I have eaten here one time and it was a very pleasant experience. The prices are high, but it is a nice restaurant. The service is great, but the menu is a bit to fussy for me...some people would love that though. If you are looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, I think this would fit the bill.

The views are great. If you are coming out for dinner I suggest making a reservation for a table with a view. The food was excellent. I recommend the doughnuts for a starter. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was great. A little on the pricey end but was well worth it. Best trout Ive ever had in my life!
