Stone & Barrel Taphouse is the latest attempt to modernize the dinning experience at Iron Oaks in Sun Lakes. Having been a patron of the prior establishments at this location, I must admit the million dollar+ makeover of this new venue is impressive. Stuffy old wooden bars and dark decor are now modern light and airy spaces with great views. There is even a dedicated gas fired pizza oven area open to public view. Staff was attentive, smiling and pleasant. The food is what you would expect from a "taphouse." while the beer was a disappointment. Because its moniker is taphouse, we were looking forward to a couple of cold tap beers. Unfortunately, out of the ten tap beers offered, our first three choices in a row were not available at the time. The fourth time was a charm but all three different beers were delivered almost flat. We will chalk it up to an unfortunate coincidence, return in the future and hope for a tall cold one the next time around.

Was part of a group with a reservation. We were set up in a nice quiet place...unlike what one encounters on Friday night!! The waitress was cheerful but stated that she was new. I ordered an Italian Grinder. Two others in our small group order the fish and chips which neither one found appetizing. When the grinder was delivered it was heavy on the meats [I truly think that one of the meats was bologna] but lacking the other things that were stated would be served. I received no tomato, no red onion and very little sauce. The waitress was cheerful but stated that she was new. The waitress was cheerful but stated that she was new. It took us over 30 minutes to get any food that was ordered at our table of 6; those that did the buffet were already done with their buffet and had seconds before ours was even served. I would have told the waitress but she was helping other tables and we rarely saw her unless someone happened to catch her eye.

My third time at Stone and Barrel was the best. I didnt sit at the bar and I went on a week day. My review has gone up significantly. The food was always good, but the service was horrible on busy Friday nights. The restaurant area was so much better service wise and quieter. So, it all depends on what you want...

My food was really good. Despite being really busy we got seated quickly. Our table was very dark, to the point that some of my group had to use the flashlight on their iPhones to see the menu. The music was pretty loud too but it was all songs I liked.

Surprisingly great new concept with great views and diverse menu. Management staff is phenomenal and always go out of their way to ensure guests are enjoying their experience (not just the food) (especially Lea M!)
