Live right around the corner from here and after moving into the neighborhood was immediately on the look out for good sushi places. First time I went, it was fine. Second time, I was served Salmon that was clearly expired.. Salmon is not supposed to be chewy, stinky, or purple. I politely mentioned it to the chef, and he assured me that is how Salmon is supposed to be. At that point, most people would simply never go again, but seeing as I worked in the industry for a long time, I understand mistakes happen and I understand the Chefs desire to not admit to having bad fish in his restaurant. I figured it may have been an isolated incident, so several months later, I tried again. Once again, things were fine... So I decided to go back a few weeks later, and this time had bad Salmon AGAIN. If youre keeping track, this is about a 50% chance of being served bad salmon. Totally unacceptable. Raw salmon needs to be fresh and handled properly, if its purple, slimy, stinky, chewy, and forces a gag reflex upon biting into, it can and will make people sick! Never had a problem with waitresses or staff. I always leave 15-25% tip even on the times I was unsatisfied. I would love to give Saketini a positive review, but after being served bad Salmon 2 times, and having the chefs refuse to acknowledge that it was bad, I have to let people know: Steer clear of Saketini.

Thought we could come here at 12:45 because they said they were open until 2 and closed the kitchen at 1. Apparently, they couldnt seat us because they were going to quit taking orders "soon." What? You said the kitchen closed at 1, not 12:45. Ive worked and food and know what a pain it is to have customers come at the last minute, but coming in an hour and 15 minutes before close is pretty reasonable I think. If they wont serve after 12:45, then thats what you should advertise. I think they just wanted to get off as soon as possible. It was 4 or 5 guys of all about the same age, who were chatting in a circle when I came in who told me this. Asked to speak to a manager so I could get clear cut answer as to why I cant be seated and when is the actual latest time I can come in, they refused. One of them, I think named Joe, used to come into my hookah lounge, so I knew he was a waiter there. After I asked again for a manager, they said he was the manager. A teenage manager hanging at the front wearing the same attire as the waiters? A manager that tells me I cant speak to a manager then changing it to he is the manager? Never did find out if he actually was the manager, I suspect not, we just thanked them and left figuring it was more trouble than it was worth.

We had a very sweet waitress but after almost 2 hours my food and my sons food had still not been served. Everone else received there food, ate and were ready to go and we had still not eaten. Now all we ordered was chicken teriyaki, not all that complex.... the manager kept saying our food was coming, it was finished and would be right out. After another 10 minutes or so, we asked again and the manager said that the order was messed up in the system and that we would not be charged for the food but would get it to go. Another couple minutes she came back and said that they cant just give out free food but it would be taken off our check..... at this point we had been at the restaurant for 2 hours my son was starving and i was p/o we asked for our check so we can just leave and even that took another 20 minutes to receive. I wasnt asking for free food, all i wanted was to eat with my family. If they messed up, thats fine but dont string me along for 30 minutes when i could have left and gotten my son something to eat from somewhere else. I dont know how many 6 year olds that can go without dinner until 10 pm without getting upset.....

I love this place. Sarah is the head server i think. She is the best. The other servers are great as well with the exception of one. she is horrible. whenever i get the meso soup, it takes her 30 mins to get it, after i remind her and by the time i get it, it is usually cold. each time i go there and get her i leave a little disappointed (she is the only white/non-asian girl). race doesnt have anything to do with it, i only put that in there because its true and i dont know her name. this place is my favorite restaurant. its quite, even when theyre busy. the sushi is great. definitely have fair prices and good happy hour deals and specials. drink specials are great as well. the sake bombers a a little pricy and definitely increase your tab.....but thats why i just stick with the cocktails now. the sushi bar is awesome. the chefs are funny, nice, and make it a wonderful experience by offering u small plates with samplers on it (free). I normally dont post reviews about any restaurants good or bad because i am lazy, but this place definitely deserves the props. I recommend this to all my friends.

My wife and I have been eating at this place for about a yr. And a half, it seemed to be one of the best sushi places around mesa. About 4 days ago, we went with a japanese friend who lives in Mexico, and the waitress make me look as a jerk who doesnt know anything about japanese culture, just because I couldnt give a Japanese pronunciation while saying Mochi ice cream, besides a not very polite service, even though, we left about 13% tip; two days later, we give a second chance, and it was very busy, we had waitress Lindsay, she forgot our drinks, (chef concern) brought a very bad taste salad, put avocado on a sushi that shouldnt have, and my friend doesnt like it either, besides, she charged regular price at a happy hr, and adjudicated a 16% tip without saying anything, and we were only 3 adults, and my 4 yr old daughter. So this is it, that was my last time there, now will go back to the awesome ichi ban at 99 ave, or will look for some good place around Gilbert/Mesa.. I was very sad. Also scalops made me very sick (they seemed rotten)...:(

I come from the Pacific Northwest, where there are a bunch of great sushi places. I moved to AZ and had been trying out different Sushi places (got sick from a very popular one at its Tempe- Mill Ave location 2x, and also 1x at another place in Mesa)... I ate at 9 different places before running across Sake Tini. Saki Tini is decent "above average" sushi...and their regular menu is pretty good. I live 5 blocks away from a sushi place, but I drive an extra 4 miles to go to Sake Tini because 1. The food is good, 2. Its never made me ill 3. the staff is always friendly each time I am there (though slow at times like others have complained about, but its not THAT bad).... Try their deep fried tofu, if you get the Salmon sushi, have them "sear" the top. It somewhat cooks the salmon, but it gives it a great flavor and their Playboy and Volcano rolls are awesome!!!
