I was enticed to dine here by a blogger that made it sound like the food at Royal Thai Grill was exceptional and beyond. "One of Mesas best kept secrets" I was really hoping to satisfy my craving for some good Thai food, so I decided to give it a shot. I learned that I should not take only one mans opinion, Rather take note to several good reviews for a restaurant. Unfortunately this will not be one for the Royal Thai Grill. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot and looked at the exterior of the place, I put the car in reverse and decided to go to Thai Basil, which is always a safe bet for decent Thai. Then I changed my mind again and figured I would give it a chance instead of driving that far. I should have gone with my instinct to turn around. It was friday night and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The interior, much like the exterior was pretty shoddy. The table was sticky, and instead of a sweet aroma of basil and coconut, it had an unpleasant stench. No greeting, just a man pointing from across the room at a table that he wanted us to sit at. I kept fighting my urge to get back in my car. My wife and I decided to be safe and order dishes that we have enjoyed at all previous thai food establishments. First my order came out and I waited for about five minutes or more for my wifes meal to be delivered, by then mine was losing its desirable piping heat that I enjoy. Quality of ingredients was poor, and did not taste fresh. The Sauce on the Rad Nar was transparent and slurry like, as well as completely drowning the noodles and beef. The beef was very scarce but not missed. All in all the food was very unsatisfactory. No doggy bags were requested to retrieve the majority of our unfinished entrees.(We dont have a dog) Had the food been terrific I could tolerate bad service and the improvised and unkept dining room. However that not being the case Royal Thai Grill will not be a dining destination for us again. Later that night my wife and I both felt sick to our stomach. I say keep it a secret.

I went to this place today 6/4/2016 and it will be my last! I have been to many Thai restaurants so I am very familiar with the food. I called this place to see if they were open and the man I spoke to was rude and lack common phone etiquette. He sounded like he was in a rush to get me off the phone! I am not sure if hes the owner or not. I called to inquire if the place was open because I didnt want to make a 15min drive only to find out the place was closed. I read some on the reviews and decided to give it a try. When I arrived, there were two diners and a man I supposed was the person I had spoken to. He asked if I was the person that called and I responded yes he gave me an attitude as if he had known me before... I just wasnt feeling his vibe. Since I was already there, I figured we will Just eat instead of going to another location. We had not even seated for 2min before this thing tried to take our order like seriously! I told him we are not ready!!! When we finally decided to place our order, my daughter wanted the Thai Curry which she has had before at another Thai restautant... Can you imagine this man said he cant serve her that because its spicy!! Really?!!! This is my child and what she wants is what she will get!!! Most of the Thai Restaurants we have been to before knows how to adjust the spice so its not too spicy and this man says there is no in between. His attitude stinks so bad that we decided to leave and check out the Pink Pepper Thai Restaurant where the owner was very kind, attentive with great customer service! I will never recommend Royal Junk Grill to anyone!!

Behind the Rallys (also great food). Doesnt look all that great inside or out and dont expect a rambunctious greeting, just on older man (I believe the owner) whos very friendly. First thing we noticed was the excellent Dinner special price of $6.25 + $1 drink (my brother got a coke and I got green tea). I ordered the garlic chicken which did not skimp on garlic like some places, it was amazing. My brother ordered the teriyaki chicken which was good, but not as good as my garlic chicken. Once youve seated you receive a ice water immediately and when they bring additional drinks you got soup (chicken and noodles tonight at least). The portions are large, the price is right, and the food is authentic tasting *delicious. I dont know if I can update hours above, but they are Wednesday-Sunday: 11am-9pm Monday:11am-3pm (we were in at 6pm) Closed Tuesday

A hidden gem, from the outside youd never expect this place to be as good as it is. But this is some of the best food Ive ever had in my life, by far the best Thai Ive found. The owners are from Thailand and do traditional Thai dishes like Moo Dad Deaw (pork jerky) that you just cant find anywhere else. My usual is a Pad Thai, pork jerky and a Thai tea, the perfect trifecta

I have been coming here for many years and really enjoy their food. Food snobs may hate its quirky appearance and very relaxed atmosphere, but that is one of the reasons why I love this place so much. It reminds me of just hanging out at my uncles house and enjoying a meal. There is a huge selection full of fresh flavors. One of my favorite places to eat by far!

Did work in kitchen, one of the cleanest kitchens I ever worked in (refrigeration tech). The food is amazing! Do not judge the restaurant by its older interior/exterior , it is a small business with very inexpensive prices. (Not some chain restaurant) 10 out 10 I am now a repeat customer.

Pad Thai and Panang were good. Tomka Gai, not so much. I like creamier with more taste of lemongrass. Prices are high for the quality of the establishment. It is in North Mesa, so thats a plus if you dont want to go downtown to Nunthaporns.

Garlic Tofu, Pad Thai, Peanut Sauce, and sticky rice. Handsdown, the BEST Thai in AZ. Owners are polite and friendly. I have been going here for almost 10 years. LOVE Royal Thai Grill. Best peanut sauce I have ever had!

I love this place. Get the One Sun Beef (beef jerky) and sticky rice. Or the coconut soup. Or the mint leaf beef. Or the panang curry (I get chicken AND vegetables when I order it). Or all of the above. Its all delicious.

This was a disappointing experience. Food quality was so-so and the atmosphere was not appealing. I felt that the meal was significantly over-priced. We will not go back there and I would not recommend it.

Excellent authentic Thai food, family owned. Fresh food cooked by the owners wife. Hidden away in an unlikely strip mall, it has won phoenix "Best Of" and they deserve it! Bring your friends!

Been eating at Royal Thai since they opened in Mesa, estimated 15 years ago. Love it. Owners are very friendly and remember what you like. Great service and great food. Always wonderful!
