Thought it would be better. Went to this restaurant based on the reviews here, and I forgot my own rule of thumb (minimum 30 or more reviews). Service was good and price was reasonable, but the food was just average. We ordered from the dinner special which included an entree for each. It included fried rice. Now I did not expect the fried rice to be full of other ingredients, but it had almost nothing except rice (no egg, no green onions, etc). The food was better than other area Chinese restaurants, but still not great. The spring roll appetizer was actually quite tasty which gots my hopes up, but the main courses (sweet and sour pork and Mongolian beef) were just ok(sweet and sour pork was better IMO...did not like the texture of the Mongolian beef). It was cheap, but I would prefer to pay a few more dollars. I probably will not be going back.

Your basic strip-mall affair. $8.05 for a sit-down meal with a soda and tax. $10 and change after tip. It was pretty much the same meal youd get at any other generic Chinese restaurant in this part of the world. Lunch special with choice of soup, spring roll, crab puff (not pictured, eaten!) and a scoop of rice. It wasnt on the lunch special, but there were some soup bowls scattered around the room, and by the looks of them, pho was on the menu as well. So, maybe a nice bowl of broth next time Im there. All in all though, quite tasty. Id put the actual quality and taste of the food a notch above middle of the road. Im giving it a 2, but only to save 3 for the awesome places.

My boyfriend and I have been eating here a couple times a week for the past few months. We have always been happy with the food and the service. Last week I decided to try something new so I ordered the Chicken Salad. I was expecting Chinese Chicken Salad, cabbage, grilled chicken, Chinese Chicken Salad Dressing. Instead it was iceburg lettuce, chewy pieces of friend chicken and Italian Dressing. I took one bite of the chicken and didnt want it. I didnt take it to go, the waitress asked if there was something wrong, I told her what I was expecting. They still charged me full price for the salad. I doubt if we will be back.

Fresh, hand made, tasty, Chinese food. Every dish in the restaurant is freshly prepared and made daily. I was particularly impressed in the honey walnut shrimp, normally its rare to find quality shrimp in Arizona, this fresh peeled, hand battered, jumbo shrimp dish beats its sea side competitors. The chicken lettuce wraps were well seasoned and aromatic, making a pleasant and fulfilling appetizer. They had the most composed and fresh fried rice Ive ever tasted. The steamed chicken & vegetables is a rare combination of both healthy and tasty. Service is attentive and top knotch.Highly recommend visiting this place.

We were hungry fof chinese food and when we saw this it seemed like a good place to try. It turns out that my two daughters loved it!! When they ordered a large fried rice, the lady said it will be big enough for them. I didnt know what expect. When she brought the out the food, she brung out a medium size pot full of Fried Rice! They shared it together and ate all of it! This is why we went there a second time because they loved this so much. Plus the prices were amazing for so much food! Also the sevice was great. You should take your family out to here if they have a taste for chinese food.

I was very disappointed with this place, especially after all the positive reviews. The food was unseasoned, the waitress was not enthused, though she did frequently check on us. I first knew something was wrong when the fried rice wasnt fried. It was the sticky white rice with some unseasoned sauce on it that made it look the color typical fried rice would be. The Kung Pao chicken was bland, but the sauce was decent alone. The orange chicken was great, I must admit. The portions were great, enough for two meals. But, I wouldnt want to two meals on it--I didnt want one.

I came because of the high ratings, I stayed because of the low dinner prix fixe menu. $10.75, after tax, will score you any one of their special menu entrees. My Hamilton garnered me a small cup of egg flower soup, a sizable deep fried egg roll, 2 crab puffs (which I could partake in, as they are not made from real crab) and a plate of kung pao chicken with fried rice. The chicken was sparse, but the taste was ok. But lets face it, why get Chinese when theres Thai? Lesson learned

Had a great experience at Yao Chinese Restaurant. The service was top-notch, and the prices were very reasonable. We had the Orange Chicken dinner plate and the Kung Pao Chicken dinner plate. Meals were filling and tasty. The employees were perfectly courteous to us and our 11-month old. This is one of those restaurants that you visit and wonder why the place isnt packed. Probably has to do with the fact that weve driven by dozens of times and didnt even notice it was there.

We have been in this place for so many times, because of the consistency maybe. The food is fair good, and some dishes are so close to authentic Chinese food. There are options with rice and noodles, so every member of the family can choose from a variety of options. I would recommend the sizziling seafood soup, and and also try the hot tea. But dont expect hugs and kisses from the waitresses, the costumer service is not their best attribute.

Not to freak anyone out but I got food poisoning from eating their wonton soup and I know it was their wonton soup because I hadnt eaten anything 5 hours before and an hour later of consuming their food I started feeling queasy and it just went down the hill from there but I have tried other options in their food and its delicious! Ill probably be scarred to eat there in while but this can happen to anyone in any restaurant.

First time visit, actually did carry out. Staff was very friendly, food was well above average. Some hits: Almond Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork. Egg Rolls were real, honest-to-God Egg Rolls, not spring rolls like so many restaurants out here serve. And they were good! Wasnt fond of the fried/breaded shrimp or the fried rice. But all vegetables were well-cooked & plentiful. Will definitely go back for dine-in meal.

I had a takeout order of Kung Pao Chicken with a side of Fried Rice (50 cents extra). They gave me a HUGE portion; definitely got my moneys worth. The food was excellent! Though they didnt give me any utensils and only included one packet of soy sauce. If you arent going to eat it at home make sure and ask for utensils! I will probably be coming back, as Yao Chinese is right next to my college.

I really enjoy the food and have been coming back here for 10 years. The Almond Chicken is not the same as in the Midwest. The Cashew Children is great and very filling. The staff and owner are always very friendly maybe because I have come here forever. I have tried other Chinese restaurants but I always come back here. Great food just remember not every time is always 100%
