I enjoy Indian food, which is why I chose to try the only Indian restaurant in Mobile, AL. What a mistake that was.. It all started well enough, we were greeted and seated quickly (granted there was only one other patron at 1:30PM). The waiter/owner brought us the menu and the drinks wed ordered, but appeared distracted by the movie playing on the television. We finally flagged the waiter down, who seemed more interested in the movie than his paying customers. We ordered, and proceeded to wait for our food, while the movie blared in the background. Im not sure what the movie was called, but it was a comedy based in Australia with Indian actors as the stars -- think "Three Men and A Baby". About 20-25 minutes after ordering, our food arrived. Right about then the movie hit the scene where the men are forced to change the babys diaper. You can use your imagination, but it was a pretty offensive thing to be playing in a restaurant environment. I had ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, basmati rice, and naan. I order this dish at a number of Indian restaurants, and I must admit this was the worst iteration Id ever tried. The Chicken Tikka was extremely, EXTREMELY, dry and over cooked, and the naan bread was more like pita bread. The only thing that was decent was the Mango Lassi, which tasted fine. We finish eating what we can, and inform the owner that the chicken was over cooked. He offers to refund us for the entree, which was respectable, unfortunately he ended up mis-charging my credit card $50, then refunding me $45, resulting in a $5 bill. The overcharge was the final straw, I requested a full refund, and informed him that the movie playing was extremely unprofessional. His initial response was that he had no control over what was in the movie, which as an argument is pretty weak. He conceded and turned off the television, apologizing and issuing a full refund. I will never go to this restaurant again, and I would recommend anyone who even considers going here to seriously re-think their decision. This was hands down the worst Indian Id ever eaten.

Honest non bias experience today. Was very excited to get some Indian. Even that ratings are mediocre I wanted this one to be good. It started off good and what was mentioned in the ratings before that the decor needed overhaul, it just needed to be cleaned and fixed. ( chandeliers - vents - ceiling tile - bathroom) With some effort of care its done. I got there right at 11:05 with my guest. After a greet we got seated and asked for drink choices. A glance over to the buffet looked promising. After getting pretty much a plate of a bit of everything we decided that it was just ok to our taste. Not spiced but some had the Indian touch. Great for the not so adventures eater. But I was very disappointed with the vegetable Korma. The " Frozen" vegetable taste just water veggie . Fresh is actually cheaper perhaps more prep work but so worth it. But I was thinking ok overall since we all come from different areas of that flavorful country a 3-4 would be justified. Huge NO NO got displayed like in a bad movie. The violator ( guessing the owners wife ) sprayed happily windex all over the counter top towards the open container dishes. Ok I was done at that point. Time to revisit serve safe classes!!!! Health department needs to assist here to fix this really bad habit. :-(

We were looking a place to eat on our trip and found this Indian restaurant on our route. The menu was a little pricey, but most Indian restaurants Ive been to were pretty expensive. The atmosphere was really cold and unwelcoming, and the room was dimly lit. But Im gonna try to write this review based on the food, or else I wouldve probably given this place 1 star. I was with 4 other people, and we ordered a total of 4 items. We waited for 30 minutes, and people that ordered before us even received their food. The cook even forgot one of our orders. Now onto the food. I ordered the goat biriyani, which was actually really nice. If you havent tried it before, its sorta like fried rice in simple terms. The goat was cooked nice and tasted a lot like beef haha. I like spicy food but even medium got me good. The serving size is pretty large and I had to get a take out box. Overall, everything worked with the dish and you should definitely try it. Other than the wait, atmosphere, and poor customer service, this is an amazing neighborhood gem.

Excellent food. Had 5 varieties of chicken. Biryani, plain rice, couple of vegetable dishes, Naan, pakoda, NO dal or sambar type dish on the day we visited. Gulab jamun, Kheer and seasonal fruit (watermelon) for dessert. Seemed like a home cooked meal. Very clean eating area and restroom. As someone else pointed out in a review here..the server (probably owner) was quite engrossed with what was going playing on TV. But would attend to us when we needed him! Overall excellent Indian food, better than Nirvana in New Orleans.

This is a good lunch buffet place. The food are good and fresh but not the best. The flavors are there but lack of taste. They seem to tone down a lot to suit American tastes. The baked Naan lack of consistency, some came out darker than others. The waitress service was so so, she was too busy serving others and looked like shes the only server and cashier in the restaurant. We had to stack our own empty plates and our drinks werent refilled. (To be continued..) Review Score: 68/100

I went here for the lunch buffet on March 31, 2014. The buffet has around 10 warm items, vegetarian and meat dishes. The naan bread is on the buffet and they have the traditional Indian deserts. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants and this one rates pretty good. The food was fresh and tasty, and the naan bread was warm and fluffy. The place was clean and the ambiance was standard. The food could have been more flavorful, and overall it was good. I would return.

The service was so slow and bad that we did not get to the food part. Stood at the front of the store for 5 minutes while the 2 women kept looking at us debating if they should come greet us or keep doing what they are doing. After 5 minutes of waiting, when 75% of the restaurant was empty, we were finally seated. Another 10 minutes of just sitting there again waiting for service to get water. Nothing. We decided to just leave. I should have believed the other reviews.

Love this place! They were able to satisfy my huge craving for Indian food. The lunch buffet is excellent, with a large variety of items, each unique and delicious which is hard to find in a buffet. The entrees were all very authentic. The service was ok. They didnt come around to refill our water often, but they didnt completely ignore us either. If youre looking for value and quality, this place is perfect!

Excellent! Granted its the only Indian place in Mobile--it was still wonderful. Sure, you COULD go to some chain restaurant and spend money on stuff youve tasted before and before, or you could go HERE and have a totally NEW and unique expierience. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and they are very welcoming to new comers.
