My husband & I went to lunch at this location yesterday. This was our 3rd visit there & we were hoping we were going to finally have a good experience for a change as the manager in the past had always been very nasty. We learned she has since been fired! We entered the restaurant around 12:15 & there was no one in line. We went over to get a tray for our drinks. There were none out front. My husband looked between the ice & tea dispensers where he saw a stack of trays behind them. There was caucasian male standing up against the wall doing nothing. My husband asked him for a tray & the man told him to get it himself. He told my husband it "wasnt his problem:. My husband said, "You are an employee." The man said, "Dont say that to me." My husband then reached over to get one himself. The man said, "It isnt my problem." My husband said, "You dont have to talk like that." His response was, "If you got a f...ing problem lets take it outside!" We are also in the food business industry & understand how it works. I had kept quiet until the man started to walk away from his station & I said he should remember "the customer is always right!" He didnt like this comment at all & turned to glare at me. My husband is a 68 year old man who is in very bad health with an inoperable aneurysm who also happens to have just retired from the Army as a Colonel when he returned from Afghanistan & Iraq 2 years ago. Trust me, he still knows how to take care of himself just as he has done in every war since his first five tours in Viet Nam! I am also a retired nurse practitioner from the USAF. My main concern by this time was my husband as I knew his B/P was sky rocketing & his aneurysm could blow at any time. The reason I add this is anyone working in the service related business never knows what is going on with the next customer who walks through the door. We could have been billionaires looking for impressive employees to hire to work for us in one of our businesses. Having been trained since 1965 to not back down, my husband told the man if he "wanted to go outside then go"! The young man walked from behind the counter. The cashier tried to talk to & calm the man as he passed her but he would have no part of it. By this time I had gotten our drinks & approached the cashier who had witnessed everything. My husband was extremely upset & told me for us to just leave. By this time the man had gone over to the manager on duty who immediately came over to the cashier. My husband told him what happened. The cashier then verified to the manager this was exactly as she had witnessed it. The manager immediately began calming my husband down & finally convinced us to stay & eat as we had planned. He was also kind enough to comp our meals. We also know he comped another 9 meals during the time we were there today. As we were walking off we heard the manager ask the cashier why there was ice all over the floor behind the counter where the ice & drink machines were? Her response was this same young man had dropped it then refused to sweep it up. She said he had been acting this way ever since he had come to work this morning. We witnessed a cook tell a lady he would be happy to give her her chicken raw if she didnt like the fact it was going to take 32 minutes for it to be cooked! Later my husband looked over at a table where the occupants had just gotten up & left. My husband saw one of the men who works behind a food counter walk by & pick up the tip! The 2 workers in our area outdid themselves keeping our table clean & drinks refilled. They had no idea what had happened. One of them was in training. I have NEVER seen 2 people moving as fast & efficiently as these 2 young ladies...PLUS, they were very friendly.

My 1st time here, as I recently moved back to Huntsville in 25-yrs. We came on a Friday evening around 5:30 pm (very busy time & extremely noisy at that time). It was my Dads 68th birthday & this is where he wanted to go. Overall, customer service is really good here. I brought in a cake with 2 candles, but forgot matches. So Mgr. Mike was very helpful with finding a staff member who had a lighter. So Tawanna (sp?) stopped by our table & dropped off her lighter. My Dad said his steak was extremely good ...even compared to steak restaurant quality. My Step-Mom really liked her fried shrimp & baked sweet potato. My brother seemed to enjoy his meal ...think he really liked the sausage. Admittedly, Im the picky one. My salad (overall) was good, as I mixed Romaine & Spinach with typical toppings (liked selection of toppings). Broccoli wasnt very good (yellowish - not very green) & salad dressings at bar were really messy with several mixed together. So much so that I asked them to remove fat-free ranch & replace. A different staff member (Antonio) who didnt work behind bar was kind enough to let the gal who did know. He also brought me a fresh bowl of dressing. Again ...it was a very busy Friday evening. So I know all those behind bar & otherwise were trying to keep up with demand. My cooked veggies were pretty good, especially the green beans & baked sweet potato (that was really good). However, I tried the sweet potato casserole (something I almost never turn down), but did not like it. It was way too sweet. So was disappointed, as I usually only get that during the holidays. Lastly, since I dont eat fried food I went for the baked fish. It was sitting in a "soupy substance" with what looked watery with either a lot of butter or oil. Didnt look so appealing. After 1 bite I nearly spit it out, as it was terrible! It didnt taste anything liked baked fish, but like something "mush". So that was my biggest complaint. Again, I am a very picky eater. Overall, they did have a very large variety of food. Since we brought in a birthday cake, I didnt sample any of their desserts. However they did look yummy. I did take home some fudge, but Ive yet to try it. Our waitress (Ruth) consistently checked if we needed our drinks refilled. So that was nice. She is also from Germany, so as part of my family is too that made for brief conversation. She was also kind enough to get a couple of to-go boxes for the birthday cake. They actually have decent to-go boxes, as theyre not too flimsy. So for my personal opinion, I probably would not come back during a rush-hour. Overall, staff was great & food was okay. I would test it out one more time, but maybe during an off time when its not so busy. KUDOS TO FOLLOWING STAFF MEMBERS: MIKE (Mgr.), RUTH (waitress), ANTONIO (waiter or bus boy?), TAWANNA (sp?? - waitress?) & ALL staff who worked so hard to please a lot of people! Youre ALL appreciated!

Food Poisoning. I ate here on July 10th. Here are a few things that I and other guess witness and or experience 1. Meat Loaf was mushy as if the meat was quick thawed and left under water to long 2. Fried Chicken was so slogged with grease, it fell of the bone. 3. Nothing was seasoned 4. The Ranch Dressing was watered down so thin you it looked like low fat milk 6. Lettuce, spinach and veggies was soft and withered. Not good for consumption. 7. The salad bar person was about to put out cheese but decided against it for some reason, Even though the cheese in the serving container was old and needed to be thrown out. The food caused members of my guest to have Diarrhea and stomach aches later in the night. I know Golden Corral is a great family restaurant 99% of the time. I hope this is just an off time. It appears the management at this one may have been so concern with saving money that they forgot about quality and return business. IT was my first time eating at this one in Huntsville and I am reluctant to come back on my next trip. On a lighter note the Hostess was fantastic. Although, the place was buzzing with business the hostess kept the glasses flowing and the tables clean. She deserves a BIG RAISE!!! There was a convention and a Expo going on most of the people came there to eat. I hope they had a better experience.
