Theres really not much more I can add that everyone else has already raved about. For me, it was just a matter of time to finally make it down here! Ive been patiently impatiently waiting to try em out. Alas, and albeit Being Ash Wednesday which translates to NO MEAT WEDNESDAY for us Catholics, opportunity reared its beautiful head and all my dreams of sweet potato biscuit bliss has come true! The stars even aligned in my favor and I got to sit outside, which is one of my favorite things to do. Because hellooooo... natural light is everything when you "do it for the gram (-Instagram)" and take pretty pictures of your food! And of course, to post & share here on Yelp Universe as well, duh..... Yo, Stevie (thats one of the biscuits, btw)!!!! I just called...to say... I LOVE YOU!!!! And I mean that from the bottom of my heart! I devoured that biscuit in probably 3 swift, über un-ladylike, ferocious bites. Before I knew it, I was walking my empty plate and dirty utensils to the bin while my friend was still ever-so-daintly knifing & forking her Hella (yummy) Fitz biscuit like the well-mannered & graceful lady that she is. I, on the other hand, was burping in the wind, licking my lips in hopes of finding leftover sauce somewhere along my lipline like a puppy dog, just super satisfied and happy. It was totally worth going against Lent practice consuming meat this day. I felt so bad but only for 2 minutes. Ha! God, why didnt I order one to go!? I was a fan before I become a fan and I think Ill stay a fan. And thats saying a lot coming after just one visit! Cheers to many more trips to HB and hopefully there will be the Marsalala biscuit that I missed out on! Handsome Biscuit, you are the shizz!!! P.S. Its tiny. Be kind and considerate with elbow room if you plan on sitting inside. Parking is very limited so you might have to get creative if you arrive by car.

Maaaaaan.... where do I start? I was introduced to their food 3 or 4 years ago by a co-worker. Ive had this place on my radar ever since....well I finally had the opportunity to visit first hand. First impression is this place is SMALL!!! but dont let the size fooL you, the personality of the employees was MASSIVE! As Im not sure off the guys position...i think it was the mgr,or should have been at least... but this fella opened the door for myself, my better half, and our two babies and greeted us. A gentleman sitting by the door and eating a biscuit offered the wife a joke that made us both laugh, turns out he was the dishwasher. The other two employees that I saw were in the...well... the whole place might be considered the kitchen, but its an eat in kitchen at least...they were near the grills. They greeted us. Making small talk, the "lead" guy explained most of the menu to us and was extremely professional in a warm, friendly manner. We both settled for the Hella Fitzgerald. Thats a funny name for what we had - a fresh, homemade, sweet potato biscuit with a rather large piece of fried chicken, bacon, sausage red eye gravy, and cheddar cheese. They were a bit more expensive then I typically pay for a breakfast sandwich, but it was worth every penny. The chicken was perfectly fried, super juicy, and didnt retain grease. The gravy was spot on, the bacon was perfect, the cheese wasnt overkill. And fresh, homemade soda was as refreshing as any cold drink during the summer. Ive heard this place gets busy, with a line out the door... and I can believe it! 5 or 6 folks came in right after we ordered, which was close to 10am. The menu isnt complicated, nor is it overly large. I will be back I a week or 2 (Its only 1 mile from the zoo, and thats the kids fave place) to try something different... this place is great

I gave this place one star bc I had too in order to leave A review. I came in and ordered 2 shorty biscuits and 3 coffees for myslef and coworkers. Weve heard such great things about this place and I was extremely disappointed that the biscuits were EXTREMELY dry and the over-easy eggs were overcooked. The coffee, that they claim is from a local breweryin Virginia Beach, tasted like watered down tea. Ive lived in Hampton Roads my entire life and have never heard of VA Beach being known for its coffee anyway. There is no phone number listed anywhere online or anywhere else for that matter. I drove back to Handsome Biscuit and let the young lady know that we were not satisfied with the quality of well...everything. She looked me eye and asked me what I would like her to do about it. I explained that we DID eat the biscuits bc we were starving but I just wanted to let someone know that the food and the coffee left a lot to be desired. She offered me more coffee but with an attitude that suprised the living daylights out of me. I will not be returning to Handsome Biscuit. The concept and pricing is great....however the quality of food, customer service, and lack of contanct information sucked. Dont get your hopes up. It aint all its cracked up to be. The pun there is totally and utterly intended.

Holy cow. I have lived in the south my entire life and have never seen biscuits this insane. Dont let the location dissuade you. This place is a gem! The Ella Fitzgerald was nothing short of amazing. The biscuits were super moist, the bacon perfectly cooked, and the chicken was the best fried chicken Ive ever had. Crispy, juicy, perfect breaking and seasoning. So good! The gravy was also quite tasty. This biscuit was fork and knife material and worth every bite! It was huge and I couldnt finish it. My husband got the Mr Close something...it had pulled pork, cucumbers, and some of the best mustard weve ever tasted. He raved about it and my bite was pretty delicious. He is somewhat of a biscuit snob, definitely a pork snob, and was very impressed by the entire thing. Sweet potato biscuits are quite a find for a North Carolinian! Oh, and the local VA coffee was also pretty spot on! Cant wait to go back!

Overall, a pretty good place to eat lunch or breakfast, recommend, its always busy! If its too busy, recommend eating outside if weather permits or just grab a take-out bag. Pros: 1.) Very good food, clever menu, and very reasonably priced 2.) A hip and trendy place, lots of younger folks 3.) Good service 5.) Close to downtown Ghent Cons: 1.) Lack of seating, only 4 tables inside. Although they have outside seating, good luck sitting outside when its 45degrees outside 2.) Taxes are kinda expensive, Norfolk charges 6% and the state charges 6.5%. I guess its kind of a moot point because this applies to all of the restaurants downtown 3.) Because the place is so small and not much ventilation, I smelled like a french fry when I got back in the car. 4.) Very few parking spots, but this shouldnt discourage you in looping a few times and fight for a spot 5.) No refill on coffee!

Small place with good food! Found the menue unique and fulfilling for a breakfast/brunch place. My one gripe is I thought the "flow" of the place was a little funny. We were there on a busy day waited in line to order our food and once we did we went and sat our selves out side. We then didnt know if we should wait at our table or pick it up at the front counter. We forgot to get water for drinks so had to return to the line to get drinks. At this point we learned that we had to bring our food from the front counter to our table so had to grab a few of our party to do so. We enjoyed our food very much just would have loved some guidance from the staff on how we could better help them. To their defence it was a very busy day with a large line, but to add simple signage like "order here" and "pick up food here" would help the flow of the place
