I have for many many occasions dined in Freelance and it is superior to all other restuarants in Piermont as well as its Sister Restuarant next door. I have read the previous reviews and found them full of nonsense or the authors are looking for attention. I have an EXTREMELY high standard of eating excellent food and I have honestly never ever had a bad meal in here or their sister restuarants. It is well worth the wait if you get there when it is full, WAIT. The staff are professional and friendly, go on build up a relationship with them they are really good people. And for all those moaners clean your glasses (eye) and your palate for a wonderful time. The decor is 70s and if it were somewhere else it may not work, but it works here lovely artwork hanging on the walls.

A Zagat rating of 28....WOW.. Lets go! And then we got there!!! Dingy, Dirty & Outdated! Food is OK. Well prepared, but under seasoned... Not worth the drive. For the amount of money we spent on 3 appetizers, 2 entrees and a bottle of wine, one would think that they would use some of their profits to give this place a face-lift. Very 80s and the bathroom was horrific. To dry your hands you have two choices...#1 a white or almost grey/yellow dingy old wash cloth displayed rolled up in a basket on the toilet. Or #2 a stack of new clean paper napkins that fall apart and stick to your fingers. For a place with a $9000.00 bottle of wine on the wine list, one would expect a bit more.

food was okay. I was expecting more from eating at its sister restaurant. slightly under seasoned, next door was much better along with much better service. my wife asked for her dinner to be wrapped to go, yet we never got it. I got the sorbet for dessert and the raspberries had mold on it. I couldnt tell the server because we never saw him for the rest of the night. he just disappeared.. the manager came over and dropped off our check.

This is our very favorite restaurant. It is now under new management, but it is still wonderful. The food is always outstanding, and the staff, many of them who have been here for years, are welcoming and always attentive. The decor is simple, comfortable, and elegant, with good paintings by local artists on the walls, and it is quiet enough so that you can talk to each other. Many of us have been coming here for years.

although considered xaviers toned down brother, this resturant has all the romantiscm, quality (and price)of the original. the restaurant is small and keeps a minimalist decor, which allows for a comfortable atmosphere to sip a glass of wine or enjoy one of the fine meals chef peter kelly is famous for.

THE FOOD HERE IS AS GOOD AS THAT AT XAVIERS NEXT DOOR. HOWEVER, WITHOUT RESERVATIONS ALLOWED THE WAIT CAN BE EXTRORDINARY. MY ADVICE: GO ON A COLD WINTRY DAY BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO WAIT OUTSIDE.

Get there early and enjoy a wonderful meal. Expertly prepared and served. One of the best, in a lovely village for those who have to wait.
