Ill start by saying that I loved this place when it was "Lighthouse" and spent many Summer nights enjoying the view and the Yankees game on TV with friends and family. Today was my first time back to Piermont after Sandy, with my now 10 year old and our 7 month old puppy. Since we had the dog with us, I asked the valet if he knew whether or not wed be allowed to bring him onto the outdoor deck, carrier or otherwise. He directed me to an open parking spot rather than parking my car just for the tip. Awesome guy. Plus #1. After getting out of the car, we spoke to Elias and Megan, who were at the entry to the new (and AMAZING) beach area. Megan said shed check about the dog and returned a minute later to say it was OK for us to be seated outside with him. We took the table closest to the parking lot right on the sand "just in case," since it was very hot out and we didnt know how the dog would react to the heat/sand combination, Even though there was plenty of shade under the table, Elias immediately put up a canvas umbrella. We had zipped open the front of the carrier to see if the dog wanted to come out, and Elias came with a bowl of water for him and added a few ice cubes. The dog loved that and in a few minutes, he was out of the carrier and lounging in the sand! The menu had some great selections, especially for my daughter who was not looking for hamburgers, hot dogs or pizza. She had the fondue with fruit, vegetables and bread and I had the New England Clam Chowder. We ended up sharing both since they were so good, then my daughter asked me to order another bowl of chowder with her. The dog even joined in by having a little bit of bread, a little bit of cheese and a clam or three. Megan and Elias could not have been more attentive, and their warm personalities served to enhance what was already a fantastic lunch! After 8 years of Caribbean travel, were staying in the U.S.A. and I must say that we had a better time at Pier 701 in Piermont in August, than we had at any other time during our 18 trips to various islands, which we loved! My daughter wants to go back up to Piermont tomorrow for the blackened Mahi. So does the dog. Sounds good to me! I cant understand how anyone could have given this place a negative review, unless they were the type of people we saw on the islands all the time - people who were never satisfied under any circumstance. There are some people who just cant be pleased, no matter what. Dont let the negative reviews deter you from eating at Pier 701. Its better than it ever was, and it was great!!

Last night at Pier 701 was very disappointing. It was my worst dining experience I have ever had. I invited friends to join us for dinner at the restaurant. That was a BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!! 1. The waitress, Laura, I believe that was her name did not bother to give us the specials that were offered that evening. She never even introduced herself as our server and just asked if we were ready to order. She generated body language that indicated that she was not happy with her job. 2. When my friend asked if there were any other items other than what was on the menu she said,"No." When my husband asked her about an item featuring a small plate, she said,"That is an appetizer". The cost was$18... That is outrageous for an appetizer. Appetizers and entrees were not clearly separated . She pointed them out when my husband asked her for an explanation. 3. My friend asked about the availability of a stuffed shrimp dish. She said that none was available. This is supposed to be a fish restaurant. 4. The prices were very high considering that there was nt any salad or soup that came with the entree. This is unheard of. Every restaurant gives a salad or soup before serving the entree, for example, my husband ordered a salmon entree, cost of which was $27,.. 5. She never came over to ask if everything was alright or if we needed anything else. 6. When my husband asked for coffee with half and half or skimmed milk, he was told that there was no skim milk or half and half only heavy cream or milk. I never heard of that. 7. I refused to tip this waitress the normal 20 percent to the above items. We called over the manager and told her about the situation. First she said she would cover the entire bill. When she came back she only told us that the two desserts, two teas, and two coffees would be taken off the bill. 8 I told her that i did not find that appropriate for an evening such as this. She responded that she was sorry and she would need to check with her manager to approve the entire bill. 9. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anybody based on this experience. Sandra Heilbronn

My husband and I went to Pier 701 for a long overdue date night. It is a beautiful location and the food was tasty. Unfortunately, the overall experience was not a positive one due to poor service. When we arrived, something was awry with our reservation. It took 10 minutes or more to be seated, and in the meantime the hostess did not acknowledge us. After sitting, someone brought us a basket of delicious bread but we had to request a server after waiting another 10 minutes or more to be greeted. Our lackadaisical server came soon after with no apology. We had to wave him down for drink refills and he completely forgot to bring the oysters we ordered. He brought us the wrong drinks from the bar and didnt return, so we had to take them back to the bar ourselves. Fortunately, our food was good, because he did not stop by to ask if everything tasted ok. Unfortunately, our date night was not the relaxing, romantic evening we had hoped. Pier 701 has potential, but until the service improves, we will be dining somewhere else.

Buyer Beware! Subpar service, mediocre food, and CHECK YOUR BILL thoroughly!! Decided to double check our bill from last night and found we were overcharged $65 for our meal!! Yes, Ill be the first to admit this should have been done before we paid, but when out with a large group we already knew the bill would be high and just glanced through. Didnt think our server would upcharge items on us until I really took a look today. As for our night - It took over 20 minutes to get acknowledged by wait staff, had to flag down a runner to ask if we could get our drink orders taken, missing drinks after they were ordered, and they were watered down cocktails never to be ordered again. Food was not worth the price, youre really only paying for the view. Will not return and wouldnt even reccomend it to my enemies.

We went there in May 2016 to celebrate with our in laws. We drove from Westchester for a good view, ambience, and good experience in general. However, the food was mediocre, noise level too loud and service indifferent at best. Moreover, when picking up our car at the end of the meal, the valet hit another car when backing in with our car! IT took over 3 weeks to get it repaired. The valet company refused to pay for a portion of the rental car cost so in the end, I was hit with $400+ for wanting to eat at this restaurant. I would tell anyone to please not go to this restaurant!
