I HAVE WENT HERE WITH A COWORKER DURING SATURDAYS KARAOKE NIGHT. LIKE THE ENTERTAINMENT. BUT THE DRINKS WERE MADE CHEAPLY. I BARTEND AS WELL AND WHEN I ORDERED A RUM AND COKE THE BARTENDER BEASTED ON THE COKE. WHEN I GOT MY CHECK I WENT HALF AND HALF WITH MY COWORKER WITH MY TAB BEING 40 DOLLARS EACH. I CHECKED MY BAK ACCT NEXT DAY AND I WAS CHARGED 80 AND MY COWORKER WAS CHARGED 40. I CALLED NEXT DAY... HAD ME ON HOLD TO FIND THIS SO CALLED GENERAL MANAGER FOR 20 MIN TO FIND OUT SHE COMES IN THE NEXT DAY. CALLED NEXT DAY SHE WASNT AVAILABLE. THEN TOLD TO CALL BACK IN 30 MIN. SO I CALLED BACK IN 30 MIN. TRANSFERRED ME TO HER AND I GOT A VOICEMAIL. LEFT HER A MESSAGE AT HER EMAIL LIKE SHE SUGGESTED ON HER VOICEMAIL. YOU STILL THINK I GOT AA WORK BACK? THEN GOT IN CONTACT TODAY AND I GOT THIS VERY APOLOGETIC GUY AND HE PROMISED TO GET BACK AT ME... (WELL ITS 9 HOURS LATER) STILL DIDNT GET A RESPONSE. I WILL BE GOING DOWN THERE PERSONALLY TOMORROW. I WILL UPDATE.

This place is the Washington Heights standby! For an authentic Irish American Domincan experience. The usual Guiness and Harp on tap but fore go that, get the Coogans Ale! The pub fare is average, but if youve had too much too drink get the burger or the quesadillas. Soak the alcohol! Friday and Saturday nights can get packed but a good time will be had! If you can come during the week. I recommend Wednesdays and Thursdays. The bar is decent sized, you can get a drink without running into someone and have em frown on you! But stop by youll have a great time! Tell em The Socialist sent you. Oh yeah, the bartenders are excellent!

Ducked in here to avoid a sudden rainstorm, and were glad we did! I ordered a cheeseburger, wife ordered chicken pot pie. She loved her pie, tasted homemade. Crust in shamrock-shape, even. Now Im picky of burgers, but this one was great. Patty more than an inch thick, juicy, lots of cheese and onions, toasted bun, lettuce. Just like Id make at home! I substituted salad for fries, because health. The salad was great, it had seeds and dried cranberries in it. No dressing, but then again, I didnt specify, so whatever. I enjoyed it immensely.

We have eaten here twice in the last week. Once for brunch once for dinner. The best aspect is eating outside but the tables are close. If there are loud takers next to you this will noit be a good time. The food is okay. It is by no means extraordinary, just okay. The brunch special is over priced for what it is and the portions are really small. The dinner was better than the brunch - however also pricey for what it is. The chocolate cake was good. Get the cake. Appetizers are also not that special. Overall just okay.

Stopped by Coogans after an event at Columbia University so the proximity and the outdoor seating is what brought me here. I ordered a burger and fries. Bad to mediocre experience unfortunately - burger was fairly good but the fries were soggy and lukewarm. Like they sat for much too long after being fried up. Also the server was incredibly inattentive not offering to bring more drinks and also forgetting multiple times to refill water (after it was requested) on what was a really warm night. I wont be going back.

Our meal was on average a 3 star experience. The ambiance is nothing impressive and has tons of old pictures lining the walls. The hot wings were dreadful and I would highly recommend you avoid. The Ruben was tasty in conjunction with the combo meal - in which you get a salad and dessert with your entree - but we were really underwhelmed with the small size of the salad and lack of choice with the meal deal. We probably wont be back - but glad we got to try it and happy to share our opinion.

Went for a burger and got a lump of meat on a hard, thick bun (very upsetting as I dont eat burgers that much anymore). *Its a sad state when you can get a better burger (and most importantly, a BUN) from McDonalds. When I asked to replace the bun, the wait staff was great. My waitress wasnt around, but another waitress helped. Another waiter said it wasnt the 1st time hes heard this complaint. The wait staff was good, but the food was just lacking in all senses.

The taco salad was not good, chicken and cheese chunks the size of a babys fist, some browning lettuce that had been sliced up at 5am that morning and a stale greasy shell. The waitress asked if I wanted something else, so I lowered my expectations and went for the burger, not better at all, zero flavour, seemed edible. NOT- I was sick for three days!!!! Guts turned to liquid. If you insist on eating here go directly next door to the hospital when finished.

I think the place needs to hire more competent people, the staff could not get a clear order right, had to return the hamburger two times, asked for medium well and received very lean, the third time the meat had a horrible smell and told them I didnt want it. I found the manager absolutely useless, thats her photo. I will never recommend this place to anyone in the future. Never expected this poor service from a New York restaurant.

A lovely place that looks to me like a combination between American and Irish style pub, as well as the menu. There was plenty of available seating on a Saturday afternoon and the service was extremely quick and friendly. I had the Chicken Pot Pie which was nice but far from the best to be honest, next visit Ill skip it and try something else.

An authentic, old fashioned New York saloon....lots of comfort food and lots of fun...friendly staff and veteran bartenders make this the oasis of this bustling neighborhood....Attracts a diverse crowd of doctors, nurses, local politicians and the locals that add to the lively atmosphere. Try it, youll like it.

Old school setting, great food, great drinks. Im happy. Had the Buffalo Chicken Wings (YUMMM) with extra Bleu Cheese (thank you Jessica, you rock!) and the best Mojito (s) Ive ever had, no lie. Ive had everywhere including all over Cuba (the birthplace of Mojutos) and elsewhere. This one is my reigning champion.

A good and affordable sports bar/Irish pub. I ordered the fish and chips and got large portions, which is always a plus. There is also happy hour drink specials. Service was adequate. Plus it is close to the NYP hospital and Columbia graduate campus. Would recommend for happy hour drinks and bar food.

With a decent selection of food and drink and lots of local history on the walls, reliable Coogans is a point of stability in an ever-changing neighborhood. This may be why it is such an excellent place to hang out during natural disasters. I weathered both Irene and Sandy there and it was hopping!

Pretty good inexpensive brunch/breakfast menu. With the closure of Hilltop Restaurant, the neighborhood needs more "classic" diner fare, and Coogans partially fills the void. If you want a nice no-frills bacon/eggs breakfast near 168th street, Coogans is a pretty good bet.

Coogans is a legendary neighborhood haunt in this part of Washington Heights. The vibe is neighborhood, working class, and irish. Fun times to be had at the karaoke night and a quality affordable brunch. Prohibition area drinks are a welcome addition.
