I must say that Ive never been to a local restaurant that has taken as many Ls as this one, by far. I am a student at Marymount Manhattan College, and our dining dollars (the meal plan provided for us by the school) is teamed with Midtown Restaurant, and Marymount students are able to use their dining dollars there to buy food. Being that its only a 5 minute walk from the residence building, it should be an easy-going, convenient experience. Should be- but isnt. Numerous negative experiences have arisen as far as both food and service goes, making dining here a risk more than anything. It seems as though mentioning that youre a Marymount student guarantees crappy service. Since youre not giving any real money, they assume that you shouldnt be taken seriously. -On one occasion, one of my roommates ordered a spinach salad as a quick bite before her late afternoon class. Not only did they bring her the wrong salad, but the lettuce had mold on it. -On another occasion, I ordered a chipotle wrap while my roommates and I were dining in. It tasted awful, and I couldnt take more than one bite of it. When the waiter came back to get our plates, he asked me what was wrong with it. I let him know, and he proceeded to pressure me into keeping to "save it for later" or "give to someone else" instead of refunding my money or bringing me a different meal. His excuse being that he "didnt want to get in trouble with his boss." Most certainly not the problem of the customer, and definitely not an appropriate excuse for your poor customer service. -Considering that this is the closest restaurant to my dorm that accepts my meal plan, I still gave them chances after previous experiences. Today, however, was the last straw. I ordered stuffed mushrooms with mashed potatoes to be delivered to my dorm, but asked if they would be able to make me garlic mashed potatoes. I was told that this would be no problem. After receiving my order and biting into my mashed potatoes, which burned the hell out of my mouth, I realized that instead of making me garlic flavored mashed potatoes, the chef just chopped up full bulbs of garlic into large pieces and mixed it into the mashed potatoes. The crab meat in the stuffed mushrooms also had an overwhelming amount of salt in it. I decided to re-pack everything and walk it back over to the restaurant myself to possibly either get a refund, or order something else. When I presented the problems with my food to (what I believed to be) the manager, not only did he try to validate the garlic bulbs in my mashed potatoes since "I shouldve known that the restaurant didnt serve garlic mashed potatoes" but when I ordered something that cost less than my original order with a refund of the remaining balance, I was told that I had to order something "just as expensive" because he could not give me a refund. When asked why, he said that he would get in trouble with his boss for it. I asked if it were at all possible for him to call his boss to ask if it would be okay, and he proceeded to accuse me of trying to "get involved with his personal life." I ended up ordering fries, and he offered to "leave a note for his boss" to address the issue tomorrow. After all of that, my roommate tried to call to order a salad with balsamic vinaigrette and avocado. The manager was extremely rude to her throughout the call, belittling her by calling her "honey" and "sweetheart" while requesting what she wanted. She kindly asked him not to call her that, and asked for a price. Instead of giving her the price, he continued to ignore her and ask for her I.D number. She would not give it to him because she wanted to know how much money would be taken out of her dining dollars before ordering. Finally, after asking four times, he told her that the total would come out to $22. She asked why a $14 salad came out to that much money, and he proceeded to yell at her, claiming that the additions she wanted to her salad added onto the balance. She decided that she wanted a side order of fries instead, and he hung up on her.

I dont normally write reviews but am angry enough that this warrants one. I ordered a Garden salad for delivery - meant to come with lots of veggies, balsamic dressing and bread and butter. What showed up at my door was appalling. A tin of wilted lettuce, soggy carrots and brown radishes (no other veggies), and NO salad dressing! I called back immediately asking for my dressing, and 2 hours later I havent heard peep. I have ordered a few times with lackluster, but I guess edible, food. But after my expereince tonight, Midtown has officially lost me as a customer.

Waren aufgrund der Nähe unseres Hotels ein paar Mal zum Frühstücken dort. Es gab eine sehr abwechslungsreiche Karte und die Bedienungen waren immer freundlich und für ein netten Smalltalk zu haben.

Another diner-ish spot in Midtown, this restaurant has a classic diner menu, ranging from breakfast classics to Greek salads, burgers to hot plates. Nothing here stands out, except the mediocre service. Its not uncommon to wait to order, wait for food, wait for water, and then wait for the check, even when the restaurant is empty.

We were just looking for a place to have breakfast, came in here and ordered our food, the waitress was somewhat on a rush asked us about 5 times if we were done, when she could see that we still had food. After that she just put our check on the table. Im never come back here ..... I dont like to be rushed to leave a place.

Im not coming back here. Everything was expensive. Waiter walked away from me when I tried to talk to him. He brought out one bowl of sauce for my friend and I to "share" when we both ordered it. When I told him I didnt want to share sauces, he argued with me and gave me a hard time. Ive never had a waiter be that rude!

Every time Im in Manhattan I call in and have breakfast here. As I live in Melbourne, thats infrequent, but I am planning a trip back soon and Ill be there first morning. I love the decor, the service, the Greek bloke who runs it, and the food as well. I think one of the omelettes has a fetta option. Nice.

We were walking around looking for a quick brunch place and we happened upon this place. The staff is on it. They know what you want before you do. Amazing food and great service. Definitely will come here again.

A nice little diner in midtown, not many left around with all the big restaurants, feels a bit run down inside, but food and service were good and its a nice little place to have lunch without spending a fortune

Comprehensive menu with good food! Our server was nice too! Definitely stop here if you want tons of options and maybe a small getaway from the rush of Manhattan.

A classic diner of NYC. Grab a burger anytime and enjoy the unupdated atmosphere of a diner that has survived for many, many years without being disturbed.

Very good food. Heavy business lunch crowd, but not crowed other times. So of an upscale diner, but with much better food. Wine and beer also available.
