While my experience has been limited, this place is absolutely amazing. I have eaten the lunch buffet about 5 times now, and each time it gets better. For the price, you can not beat it. First- you sit down, the owners are very friendly and welcoming. You are sat and immediately served a warm basket of naan. It is fresh and warm. The buffet has everything you could imagine. My favorite has to be the chicken tikki masala. Obviously, this depends on how you prefer it, but their sauce is very creamy, buttery, and rich. The flavor is overwhelming. The baingain bharta (eggplant) has a sweetness to it that is amazing. The chana masala is made with fresh chick peas. The saag panaar is simply amazing. Overall, what makes this place besides the friendliness and value, is the ingredients in the food. They are fresh, robust and high quality. You can taste it in the food. As far as someone saying no flavor before, have to vehemently disagree. The food quality is superb, and you can ask for up to 5 star spicy. Overall, this is becoming one of my favorite southern Indian restaurants in Louisville. It is home cooked goodness and you can tell someone actually cared when they prepared the food. I highly recommend this place, worth the drive, great food, good people, and a great atmosphere.

I visited this place with my friends for a lunch buffet. None of us liked the food then (Might have improved now). However, more than the food, what went bad with us is the way they behaved when one of my friend gave them the open opinion that the food was not up to the mark and you guys need to take care of so and so things, the person was talking back with an attitude that we were complaining too much. She was saying that we are serving lot of non-indians around this place and they like the food. And we think we are doing good and she went away. I think thats not the way they should take ut when someone gives a suggestion. Apart from that, the ambience and comfort everything is well done!

First thing in this world..I dont think any of these reviews are written by any of the customers. These reviews are written by the hotel management. Dont get betrayed by the look of the place. There are roaches crawling on the walls and hairs in curries... and they say its a goat hair. How can a goat hair be the size of a mens hair?. The lady at the desk says "we got a Pakistani chef who cooks the food for us. We have good reviews on the internet..." of course, if you write the reviews for yourself, you must have good reviews. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE FOR INDIAN FOOD.

While having a weekend away as a couple, my wife found this place online. We stopped in to have a drink at the bar and order food to go. The food was ready before I was done with my first long island iced tea, which was delicious! We paid and returned to the hotel to engorge ourselves on the wonderful smelling till masala and butter chicken curries. We got the hot curries, and let me tell you, they were. But so delicious! Please, if you ever find yourself wondering whether or not you should eat here, just do it. And ask for Jay!

This was our first time having dinner at the Shandaar upon entrywe were impressed with the atmosphere and the touch of live music. The we were immediately greeted by met very friendly staff then the food was amazing so much more flavorful than other popular restaurants in Louisville best naan bread ever! If you love Indian you have to try the Shandeer! We look forward to trying the buffet and other recipes from previous generations passed down from India we were told about.

Bloody hell...another great local place shuttered. I would bet the "goat hair in my curry" reviewer has never been here, since the place isnt inside ANY hotel - you moron. Great, great food. Fresh naan, and most authentic Indian food I have had in Louisville. The spices are much more vibrant than a place like Shalimar. Naan is made fresh when you walk in the door, not just moldering on the buffet.

We went to Shandaar on a Saturday evening. The ambience was very nice. The food and service were excellent. Im anxious to try the buffet. I thought the prices were about average, in comparison to other Indian restaurants. I do really appreciate the server asking us what temperature we like our food. The spiciness was perfect for what we ordered. Will definitely return! :)

Sunday buffet is almost a tradition at this place, and its amazing because it seems like no one knows about it. Always quiet and peaceful, and unlike most other Indian buffets, soda is included in the price of the buffet, as is naan. Even if you dont go for the buffet and order off the menu, the food is amazing, and I believe the place is family owned and operated.

The food, the service, the attentiveness of the staff, and the atmosphere are all excellent. Unlike a lot of Indian restaurant counterparts, the room had all the feeling of a very expensive restaurant but at the same prices as other Indian restaurants. I ordered off the menu on a Saturday evening, but cant wait to come back for the lunch buffet.

Very nice, pleasant decor. Servers were friendly and attentive, food arrived fast enough. Ordered the vegetable vindaloo, which was good and reasonably priced. No idea why the place wasnt more crowded on a Saturday night; this is markedly better than all the fast food in the area. Id certainly come back, anyway.

Dont be fooled by this Indian restaurant. Tastes nowhere near Indian food. Cheap and Tasteless food. very less items to choose. We are not happy at all after having Lunch from here. Actually there was nothing good to eat. So dont waste your time and money. believe me I know how real Indian food taste..!!

Was apprehensive of trying it after reading the reviews but the food and service were excellent. With the new open kitchen you can watch the entire cooking in front of your eyes which was a unique experience and never seen before in an Indian restaurant in Louisville. Look forward to going back again.

I would like to give Zero stars if possible. I ordered a Dal Makhani and a Gobi manchurian. The food is stale. Rice uncooked and seemed from ages. The dal makhani had a weird taste. Gobi manchurian had Rai in it, why on the earth would u do that? and was made out of ketchup. Pathetic!

Dont let the ambiance fool you. Limited inauthentic food selections, with a final bill coincidentally possibly reflecting the total price for all the over the top décor you will be sadly let down. I do not like my naan made from Pillsbury pizza dough, thank you very much.

Its been some time since Ive experienced Indian food of such quality. Totally enjoyed the entire experience - the food quality was excellent, the owners were very friendly and informative during dinner. Cannot wait to go back and try the lunch buffet - dinner was awesome!

We had the lunch buffet. The food was very good, but it seemed slightly americanized. Theres nothing really wrong with that, as thats mostly the audience they are catering to in this area, its just something we noticed. The owners were very nice and attentive.
