The food is great, the price is reasonable, but Ive had not one but two bad service experiences here. Just this morning I was in with my parents who were visiting and we had to have been the first customers in. It took forever for our meals to arrive and people who were arriving later than us were getting their meals. The worst part is two of the customers that arrived after us at least 20 minutes or so ordered the exact same things we had. By the time my meal had arrived (The Construction) it was sans pancakes and I had to wait another 10 minutes + for them to arrive while the customer behind me got his order and pancakes. That was definitely the most upsetting part for me. I dont know what was going on but This was the second time and I felt like an a-hole waiting an hour for my food. I complained to the staff and the most we got was an offer for a free pasty and 10% off which was like 3 dollars. It pains me to say this because Ive never had bad experiences at night there, but I dont think Ill be back.

I went there today to place an order for a birthday cake to be picked up tomorrow. Simple right? Wrong! 3 people behind the counter asked me if I needed help. I told them that I wanted to place an order for a cake to be picked up tomorrow evening. They all said they are not "equipped" to take an order for a cake and that I would have to talk to Mike or another guy(forget his name). Lets call him X. They asked X if he could do it. He said no. So now Im waiting for Mike. And this Mike guy is busy doing nothing inside and not one of these 3 people would tell him that Im waiting. Finally, 30 mins later (yes im very patient), one of the 3 ladies I spoke to tells him that Im waiting for him. I told him what I wanted and he says. Sorry, the pastry guy is off tomorrow. You would have to take a cake that is on display. No apologies for the wait. Nothing Ridiculous. Im DEFINITELY NEVER going there again. Seriously F** this place.

Ive been here twice and I have mixed feeling about it. Ive gotten cake both times and the first time was ok, wasnt the best cake Ive ever had but wasnt the worst. I stopped in this afternoon and got two pieces of triple chocolate cake to go for a friend and myself. Lets just say if the cake taste like everything else thats shared a displace case with, its not a good sign. Secondly if the frosting doesnt even taste like chocolate anymore its way past its prime. I have worked in several bakeries part time and know you generally try to sell the older things but theres also a date check to make sure if its not selling before that throw out date, toss it. And unfortunately it did taste like cake thats been sitting in there since the beginning of the week. I think I will be sticking with Vanille on Broadway and Melrose from now on.

Ive been to this place many times since I live close by. The food and service were okay when I first started going there, but they both declined significantly in the past year. If I eat in the cafe, the service is usually exceptionally slow. If I order takeout, half the time they would get my order wrong (using the wrong bread, missing sides.... you name it). When I called them to complain, they were unapologetic to say the least. My worst experience was last Saturday when I got a chicken noodle soup for takeout. The soup went bad already! I had to spit out when I ate and threw the whole thing away. It was disgusting. Of course they didnt even refund me for this. Well, never again. There are so many other good bakery/brunch places in this neighborhood. I will not spend any money at this place ever again.

The service is friendly, the food is fresh, the atmosphere is that of a true bakery in Europe. The chocolate croissants are delightful, and there IS NO OTHER hot chocolate that can compete with this one. Made with real chocolate, it is thick and sweet and deliciously sinful. I stop in many times in the summer because I work as a summer intern at the hospital nearby, and Im always there ordering the exact same breakfast. A hot chocolate and a chocolate croissant. It is a treat you will always look forward to. If youre planning a wedding, this is the place to go to for the best cake. These cakes are truly miraculous and there is no other in Chicago.

Horrible Service - 1 hour for Blueberry Pancake. Got my order after 40 mins of order. I was told that specility orders taje long time(Nor sure what is speciality here ). And when i got the pancakes, they were cold, i guess they cooked then long ago. I asked the waitress to touch it and she apologised me again and said she will replace. After waiting for 20 more mins, i gave up and got up to leave, and then she brought them, but too late, we already decided to leave. The waitress who is also the manager, didnt even care. We paid the rest of the bill and left.

Horrible and terrible service. Food is good. However service here is totally awful. Especially the woman usually having blond pony tail hair will serve you very awful service. While I was seating there, the bee and two flies were bothering me and I even had to move to another seat. The swaitress was seating right next to me and she saw it but nobody in there cares. I eventually could not finish my food. When I pay, I talked about that but she totally ignored it. What is wrong with you huh? Thank you so much for you ruining my day :)

Possibly recently renamed to The Vienna. Went here a Saturday morning. Ordered a banana, chocolate, and nougat crepe. I will be coming back here for many more mornings. The service sat us immediately and kept our water and coffee completely full. Our cups were never empty. Food came out quickly and was very delicious and warm. The food is also very cheap! Service was incredible enough we wrote a message on the receipt and bumped up the tip. Loved this place. Really want to try the rest of the crepes and the rest of the entire menu!

If only Chicago was full of places like the Austrian Bakery. Im so happy for the owners & other very hospitable people who keep it running. When they opened a few years ago I wasnt sure they would make it, although I hoped they would, and now they have a great menu & wonderful ambiance, especially for such a small space. Their cranberry-walnut bread is out of this world-fantastic, as are their croissant sandwiches and poppyseed pastries. Its such a unique place, and I highly recommend for breakfast or lunch.

I ordered the continental breakfast and several pastries for delivery. First off, their staff were really friendly and fast. Secondly, the food was delicious - the potatoes were perfectly done and the toast was great (I think they have over 10 different varieties of toast to choose from)! The Napoleon pastry was really yummy!!! The prices were really reasonable, as well. I will definitely order again and will recommend to my friends. Thank you!

The breakfast croissant is as huge as they say. Half of my meal was the scrambled egg concoction that flowed from the side; half was that delicious sandwich. And of course, I couldnt leave a bakery without getting a little sweet something so I got a cheese square. Delicious! What a great value- under $3 for a whole lot of goodness. After breakfast here, I couldnt bring myself to eat lunch. I was still full at dinner time.
