As like any true Mexican restaurant, Everybody who works there are related family members. If Poppy owns a restaurant, you can bet that all 900 of his kids, cousins, uncles grandpas, sisters, daughters, brothers, sons works there. I have yet to see a white / black or Asian person working for a true authentic Mexican restaurant. But I did witness a Chinese restaurant run by a bunch of Mexicans, The absolute worst Chinese food that I have ever had in my life......Really. El Tapatios restaurant is a good place to eat. And we have never had a bad meal there. Service sometimes questionable due to a language barrier. But if you are going to live and work in this country, You better learn the language.....For I would be expected to do the same if I lived and worked in Mexico. Eat here it is worth it.

I travel to this area quite often. I visited El Tapatio in St Helens a couple of years ago and wasnt entirely impressed so I didnt go back. Until now. I am back in town and was looking for something different so I thought Id give them another try. I ordered a margarita and the taco platter. When the margarita came I asked if they had some hot salsa and maybe a tequila shot for the margarita since it was so weak. The said they could do that. I waited for over 30 minutes before the waitress came by again and asked if they had brought my shot. I told her no, they hadnt and they hadnt brought my salsa either. I told her I was done and needed to leave. They said maybe the ticket got stuck and that is why I didnt get my drink and salsa. I dont think so. This is the last time I visit this restaurant.

Hi used to be a regular customer but the male waiter started being horribly rude. I made a formal complain and the owners didnt even apologized for the inconvenience, or acknowledge the problem. Later found out the waiter was a relative of the owners. I will never go there again. Awful customer service. Staff gossip about the customers, while customers are still in the establishment.

Everytime Ive chosen El Tapatio, they have provided excellent customer service; the setting is calm, peaceful and I love that they serve both authentic Hispanic Food and play Hispanic music. Love this place!!

Great food. Lots to choose from. Great drinks. Lots of room for groups. Children friendly. Outdoor smoking area on balcony. Fun birthday party place. They put a Sombrero on you and sing to everyone.

It was ok. Standard Mexican restaurant with typical fare. Very large menu to choose from. Nothing great but nothing bad. If you are hungry for this fare, you will get what you want with no surprises.
