I was pretty impressed with this place. The coffee was great and served in pristine and shiny mugs. The environment is visually and ergonomically very attractive. The marble counter-top with the bronze espresso machines are beautiful and unlike any place Ive ever been to for coffee. The prices here are no worse than starbucks. While the coffee is really special, options are very limited and quite basic. Staff here is friendly and made me feel good about myself. Id give Compass Coffee 5 stars if my scone wasnt so dreadful. The thing was chewy and dry at the same time, but at least I had a nice mug of coffee to wash it down with.

I live close by and have tried their coffee many times, but unfortunately I just dont like it. Their seasonal blend, the Northern Lights was pretty good, but everything else has tasted only OK. Ive tried their drip, espresso, and even the fancy new vacuum brew, but I think I may just not like this roaster. However, the staff is excellent, and honestly, theyre the reason I keep trying. The shop itself is very nice and pleasant to lounge in. Edit: I think Ive narrowed it down to the Delirium roast in particular. Its hit or miss on the others, but I suggest avoiding Delirium.

This is really more 3.5 stars than 4. Beautiful space, pretty good coffee (I tried the pink peppercorn latte with almond milk and it was pleasant and beautifully poured), and friendly, knowledgeable baristas. However, it took the man at the register several minutes to realize that I was waiting for the drink that the man on bar had already prepared for me. He was too busy chatting with his friend who had not placed her order yet and I had to tell him that I was waiting. I suspect that its usually a better coffee shop, but that didnt give a very positive impression.

I started going to compass in Vancouver, WA a couple years ago while I was working down the street. When I learned compass was opening just a few blocks away from me in Portland I was ecstatic! They really went all out with the new location and it turned out beautifully. The staff has ALWAYS been very friendly and makes you feel like a part of the family. They are very skilled baristas, making some of the best coffee/espresso/tea I have ever had. 10/10 Would highly recommend.

I ordered a large dry cappuccino and the woman behind the counter made me a large latte and charged me a latte price. I tried telling her thats not what I ordered and I was overcharged and she argued with me and I didnt know what to do so I left. Super bummed since I live in the neighborhood and would go back but def not a good experience.

Solid coffee and friendly staff. Nice looking place to sit and chat. I really enjoyed the cinnamon roll I had. Theyre also one of the only places Ive found with the BKON Rain Vacuum Brewer system which was fun to watch. My major complaint was the internet- its pretty awful though, so definitely dont come here hoping to use it to study.

Friendly knowledgeable staff who are kind in their passing on of coffee education to customers. Open, airy environment with a cool bar to sit at. A coffee bar with an actual bar.

Really enjoyed the style and atmosphere of this roaster, despite being on the 1st floor or an apartment building. The coffee was brewed really well (not burnt), and was creamy and chocolatey as described. Having been to nearly every Portland coffee roaster, the coffee makes it within the top 10.
