Sometimes I just crave a great dive bar and this is EXACTLY that. Located on 96th and 2nd, Merrion Square is a super laid back, great place to hang out that has a local neighborhood-bar type of vibe. Besides the great beer selection they have plenty of entertainment to partake in as the drinks start flowing such as, a pool table, Buckhunter and Skeeball (my favorite)! They also have a cool special that you get a free burger when you buy a beer or free wings when you buy a pitcher of beer. I have tried a few of their apps and while they were nothing special, they were great when you are craving simple bar food.

I loved the the ambiance in this bar. There is plenty of seating available, as well as great variety of beers on the tap to choose from. I was also glad that the kitchen was open pretty late about 1:30 a.m. However, what I liked most was the hip hop they played which was of good taste and not too loud. The bartender was a cool guy name phil who was nice enough to introduce himself which goes a long way if you ask me. This is definitely a bar that I will visit regularly.

Awful. Greet beers on tap but good luck getting noticed by the bartenders who only pay attention to the regulars. Rude bartenders once you do get noticed - no one is friendly. On 3 occasions, friends of mine as well as me have all experienced long pieces of hair in our food. Those burgers that comes with beers are free for a reason. Awful staff, non-friendly atmosphere, and hair-filled food. Its like they dont want business. They couldnt care less.

The bar itself is fine if not nice for a pub. They have a pool table and skeeball and have cheap drinks. My only real gripe is that the bartenders, especially the bearded almost thirty years old one who works most nights, rush you, play jokes on customers, and brown nose conversations to the point that they will join them.The staff here is rough, the bars okay. Id skip it, not going back. I dont need my bartender leaving me stressed.

Amazing amount of beer on tap, and even more bottled. for a few blocks of walking the reward is an A-list of craft and local beer, a free burger with almost any beer, and a free basket of wings with a pitcher priced right. Im big on belguim and craft and Merrion Sq has all my favourites along with new ones that Ive only found here. make sure to hit this sports bar up if youre within a three block radius.

I think its a decent place, but it doesnt feel like it excels at any one thing anymore. The free burger with a beer used to be a nice deal, but thats only during happy hour. Beer prices are all on the high side, so there arent any deals outside of Happy Hour anymore. The staff is good, and helpful but the food isnt anything special.

I just spent the weekend in New York for a bachelor party and we found this spot out of luck. Great atmosphere and good food with local brews... what more could you need? It is a chill spot with great music to hold a get together. Made the weekend a great success. Much love and appreciation from James and his Groomsmen!!!

My third time there while traveling for business and the bartender Murph is always friendly introducing himself & offering a handshake. Great craft beer selections that are always changing. Ask for a sample to try something new. Standard bar food menu. The wraps are great and the tots are extra crispy!

If youre into craft beer, make sure to stop in for a pint. The prices arent going to be the bargain of the century, but the variety is worth a pint. The bar has TVs playing whatever major sporting event is on and On Sundays, this place is a Philadelphia Eagles bar with a cool local/travelers crowd.

Seriously one of my favorite bars despite the unknowledgeable bartenders and the horrible (frozen; clearly supermarket bought and reheated)food. And whats with the "B" rating from the health department? I love the ambiance, metrocard art exhibit and the lay out. I would come here again and again.

I love this place. Very friendly staff along with great choices of craft beers. Theres a pool table and skeeball to keep you entertained. Great happy hour prices along with free burger with your beer. Another happy hour deal is free basket of fries when you order a pitcher.

The food would be great for throwing. Beer selection is a bit too eccentric even by Manhattan standards. The prices are steep for the quality offered. Shame, considering better haunts were driven under by the MTAs 2nd Ave subway project...

Used to be my favorite unknown beer bar in NYC. They cut the beer selection by 60%. Used to have skee ball and a pool table. Both of those have been removed. Seems like someone new took over and removed the personality of the bar.

They have a good selection of American craft beers. They had had a limited release Ommegang beer that brought me there. But there are TVs everywhere, the bouncer is douchey, and there is loud rap music playing. Skip.
