ame here for my friends open-bar 25th birthday celebration and We. Had. A. Blast. We were a little skeptical about booking it here because of the mixed reviews, but I think if you have a solid crew you are guaranteed to have so much fun. My friends and I like to have a good time wherever we go-- we were dancing our butts off to the DJ who played top 40 music and, although there isnt much dancing room in the front of the bar, we made it work. The crowd was pretty poppin too, there were at least three other open bar parties there that night. Most importantly, the open bar deal is one of the best in NYC. 40 dollars for three hours. Bartenders and bouncers were SO nice, which is a nice change from all the snobby staff you usually encounter in NYC. Also, the bartenders are heavy pourers-- I like that ;) We werent really sure what to expect from this place when we picked it, but we had such a great time. Everyone was glad we chose this spot, so, if youre looking to celebrate, have a solid crew, like to dance, and are looking to escape the bougie crowd that inhabits most of the nightlife in NYC, Mad River is calling your name!!

What can I say that hasnt been said? This place has really high quality stuff. The guys behind the counter are great. Other places make you feel like they are doing you a favor by letting you spend money at their pork store, not these guys. They are always friendly and generous with samples. Good loyal Mets fans. And Ive never gotten a look if Ive asked for a very small portion of any product. I like that. Honestly I think their sandwiches have been a little overrated on this site but I guess thats just because I would rather do it myself. I suggest you do this: buy a quarter pound of prosciutto (imported of course), a piece of homemade mozzarella (go for unsalted and salt it yourself), pick out some roasted red peppers, a bottle of their recommended sicilian olive oil, maybe some vinegar, pay the bill (bring enough cash). Walk outside and across the street. Enter the bakery and ask for the "pan de casa" sliced. Walk home and THEN make the best sandwich youve ever had. Make one for someone you love since youll have plenty of leftovers. You can thank me later.

Mad River!!!...What a great fun experience!!, over the past two months Karaoke Wednesday nights have been increasingly fun, due to the welcoming and attentitive staff, --bartenders Katelin & Aunna are fun and friendly to all...Oh yes even the manager takes the time to welcome and show appreciation to guest. Looking forward to after-work Fridays with; food, drinks and a DJ. ...Hey why not Saturday and Sunday as well !!!LOL!!!.

Always a good time every time I go! I usually go on Fridays and saturdays Bartenders are super friendly and know how to have a good time, DJ is always playing fun music for everyone to move to! There is usually more of a younger crowd but I can say in all honesty mad river is one place that will get anyone & everyone moving! Mad river is always a good time always enjoy going back :)! 5 stars!!

This is THE Wisconsin bar. They show Badger games every Saturday and feature Wisconsin beers, brats, and cheese curds that taste like State Street Brats! If those items mean nothing to you, then this is just a regular college-y bar with bar food, Wisconsin beers & food, and the kind of clientele you can expect from this kind of establishment. Its the type of place to go to if youre looking to get tumbled. There are college students who stumble around spilling beer and get super loud. Dont go there if youre looking for a nice quiet time. They have a back bar upstairs if you want a quieter area. Its college themed so go there if thats what youre looking for.

Was not too impressed with this bar. It was overcrowded, and the atmosphere was very college-y. Unfortunately, I couldnt differentiate this bar from the rest of the bars in the vicinity. Perhaps I should not have stopped by on a weekend during peak night hours. Will try back during the day to watch a game another time.

An exception in the neighborhood. It stands out from the other frat bars that populate the strip (though some have closed due to the 2nd ave subway construction) in a good way. The staff is fun, they have private party spaces and they genuinely want you to have a good time. Try the wings, enjoy a pint, watch a game.

Up from Baltimore to visit the Met museum... Decided to grab a bite before our tour... Popped in here...We were greeted warmly by the bartenders as soon as we walked in! The food was terrific! AWESOME service! Found out they have a Baltimore location, will definitely check it out!

Mad River keeps a pretty college-like atmosphere most of the time, which can be fun if youre in the mood to drink and party. Drinks arent too expensive and the staff is great. Not a bad pregame spot if youre on the Upper East Side and want to catch a buzz before you head downtown.
