The Refuge has been around as long as I can remember. I dont remember it ever being remodeled. The decor reminds me of the 1970s. Their food is okay, but there is nothing outstanding that they are known for. I did have my rehearsal dinner there for approx. 60 people when I got married the day before my wedding. but only because there wasnt a higher end restaurant nearby.. Now for formal client occasions I hire a caterer from a larger city to come in or I take everyone to Sacramento to a nicer place. If the refuge updated their decor (their low ceilings, dark colors, fake flowers are depressing) Im willing to pay more for a fresh, clean restaurant with candle light, romantic music and food that is presented on the plate like it is art. I do appreciate that it isnt a chain. Chain restaurants are never impressive. I would be happy to spend the extra $20 Id have spent on gas to buy a better bottle of wine. If our whole community would do that we could support a romantic high end restaurant in this town!

My wife and I just went there (3/13/11) and loved it! The new, big windows on the east side really opened up the dinning area, and all those comments about the chairs with wheels? Forget them; they were perfectly fine. The food was exceptionally good. The sauces for the curry shrimp and the chicken tika masala were the most flavorful weve ever had. Good samosa appetizers, with a very tasty plum sauce. Plus they gave us a complimentary order of garlic naan. Very reasonable prices (two dinners, 1 appetizer, 2 beers = only $34) Cant wait to go back! Big thumbs up!

Last night I took my mother to dinner at the Refuge. I had the Basque Lamb, and it was terrific. Unfortunately, that was the only thing good about the evening. We had to ask for menus. We asked for our salads at the end of the meal, but they came before. The fresh vegetables with my dinner were grossly over cooked. The Ceasar Salad was old, the lettuce was oxidized and brownish where the leaves were torn. Our water glasses went empty. There was one other thing positive about the evening. The people were very nice.

Tings is really a nice place with very kind service (although some of the staff did seem a bit green). All of the food showed an effort at just enough culinary sophistication to pleasantly surprise without putting off those who like simpler fare. Great wine list, too. My one concern, and why they got 4 and not 5 stars, is that the rice that came with my delicious ahi special seemed like it was scraped from the sides of the rice cooker. Strange to cut corners on a $.50 dish when the main entree was amazing.

We reserved the Waterfall room at the Refuge for our wedding on June 8, 2013. What a disaster!!!! The restaurant lost power during our ceremony and was out for approximately 3 hours. The owners were RUDE and did not compensate us in ANY way. The food was cold and stale. Not to mention our Wedding Day was Ruined. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. All my family and friends in attendance will NEVER return.

Ive never been to this place. The food was delicious. We showed up at 9pm. Closing hours said 10pm. The man who received us had to check if we could be seated to eat. It was really embarrassing. However, understandable being the time we arrived. We were served and service was good. So Ill be going back at a earlier time of course!

I host a monthly marketing chapter meeting at the Refuge. The food is always good, hot, and servers are friendly. Last month we celebrated St. Patricks Day and I requested green pasta as part of our meal. They did a great job. There is a new manager, John, who is always a pleasure to work with. Jan Duke

We got there before the kitchen opened but they accomidated us as much as anyone could. They brought us bread and butter and explained that we might have a wait. Only problem wàs we ate the bread and by the time our food came we were full.
