This is a fun restaurant. My friends got the chimichanga. One got chicken the other got beef. They really enjoyed their meal. My carnitas were tough. It wasnt moist it was dry. All three of us wished wed had a little bit more cilantro taste to our entrees thats one suggestion for them to add. The chips were fresh and the salsa was okay. I prefer pico de gallo. Our waiter was just way too busy and had a hard time providing us good service. Our dessert was the fried ice cream. We shared it and it was very good. They have adequate parking and handicap access. The restrooms and restaurant were clean. They have outdoor seating and can handle large groups.

If you like Mexican food made for a nursing home, this is the place for you! This was the worst Mexican food weve ever had, and weve had a lot all around the country. My chili relleno was covered in unseasoned taco meat & a bland tomato sauce plus they didnt remove the seeds from the pepper. My husband had steak fajitas that had no seasoning at all. He had to add salt & hot sauce just to give them a little taste. The tortilla chips were way over fried & the salsa needed some flavor. Worst of all, the guacamole was not fresh. It tasted like the kind you get in a package & have to squeeze out. We will never eat here again.

I wasnt surprised the tacos tasted like theyd been under a heat lamp for two days, but I was a little more surprised when I bit into a rock in said taco... luckily I didnt break a tooth, but I was mostly surprised that that the management WASNT surprised that I found a rock in my food. Outside of comping me for the $3 I spent on those crappy tacos, they did nothing to retain my business - neither the wait staff nor manager even apologized.

The atmosphere and service was great but omg this is the most un-authentic Mexican food in the world. Its like People whove only had Taco Bell trying to remake their food. All the meat was unseasoned and plain, the salsa is just like a tomato no spices or anything. We were up for vacation and oh I cant wait to go home and get a good taco. So disappointed and mislead by all the reviews, Wisconsinites must not have real Mexican anywhere.

Not sure of any other Mexican restaurants in Minocqua but El Mez is a welcome surprise! Friendly staff, quick service, and delicious food and drinks make my wife and I want to come back here every time we are in the area. The food takes me back to my teenage years, bussing tables at a local Mexican restaurant near my home town in NW Indiana. Morning shifts got to eat chef special meals for free, and El Mez gives me the feels.

I have had dinner here on several occasions over the past year and most recently this past week and have to say this is a really great place for getting authentic Mexican food in the Northern Wisconsin. The food and service has always been very good for me and I plan on going there again soon. The decor is very nice since the building was built in the past couple of years and there are always a lot of nice people their.

Had the Vegetarian combo. A bean burrito that was covered with enchilada sauce. Burritos are not normally covered with sauce and it had hardly any beans. The cheese enchilada was ok but the cheese was a weird kind of cheese and not that much. The tostada was covered with so much sour cream you couldnt taste anything else . I was so disappointed because I ate the re one other time and it was so good.

Friendly staff. Far and away the most bizzate quesadilla Ive ever experienced. We ordered steak and it was clearly over nuked with way too little cheese. Didnt come with any accompaniments like a dollop or two of sour cream, or some cilantro. They only serve one level of salsa, very mild. Should consider adding a hotter one! Bagged guacamole not freshly made.

Very friendly and prompt service, both at table and check out. The dining room is a bit bare bones, but thats all right. I came for the food, which I liked. El Mez has full bar service, including all the crazy frozen drinks one might imagine. Pro tip to save you time wondering; you bring your bill to the stand to pay; servers dont pick them up.

Taco truck is the place to go for Mexican food. Places like this are a dime a dozen. Steak is shredded beef. Over cooked dry ground beef with almost no flavor. I had the chimi and I make them better at home in frying pan. Waste of time and money. Try somewhere else.
