The food is amazing. The service was by far lacking. I have eaten here twice before with good service. This time we showed up and the place had one person sitting inside and multiple tables outside seated. We sat inside next to the air conditioning. Shortly after we sat down others groups arrived and sat down. We did not get served first though others sat after us got served before we did. Aside from the person providing water but not taking any orders no one came by for 15 minutes. When we finally received service it seemed clear that the person waiting our table was not assigned to our table and just happened to have noticed that no one had yet served us. We asked how long it would take to get a pizza, she checked and returned to tell us 30 minutes. We said that we wanted a salad and two pizzas. We wanted the pizzas to go because we did not have enough time to stay and eat pizza when it would take so long. Given that other tables that sat down after us had already had their orders taken and in the queue to be made, we were not especially happen. We asked for the salad to be brought out because it did not have to queue up for the pizza oven. Well the salad arrived 2 minutes (literally) before the pizzas did, which put us at the time that we needed to leave. So instead of eating the salad we asked for it to be boxed up to go, but the waitress protested, we explained, and then she boxed it up. She did apologize, but then included excuses so it wasnt really an apology. However, the pizza was great! The salad, so so, because everything was packed separately and would have caused quite mess had it been eaten while driving. We were able to eat the pizza while driving. When we got home an hour later, (literally), I had to leave 5 minutes later for my next adventure which was why we had to get the food to go even though we should have been able to have eaten while at the restaurant. One table that came after us had already finished their meal and were about to leave when our salad showed up. So if you eat here the food is really good, but I suggest you call it in and pick it up or else plan on staying two hours because their wait staff is understaffed, chaotic, inefficient and their kitchen apparently cannot make more than 4 pizzas at a time. I suggest that they add more pizza ovens and figure out how to know which guests show up and when so that the first come is first served rather than last served. The whole reason we came to Yelm was because they invited us via email to attend the jazz festival which we enjoyed. Afterwards we came for the pizza because it had been delicious and continued to be delicious. However, whether we visit this pizzeria again in the future, time will tell, but the answer is likely no unless we plan for the visit to this place to be 2 hours. And there are times that taking 2 hours at a restaurant to enjoy the ambiance is worth it, but this time, we did not have the time. 45 minutes should have been enough and was had we been lucky enough to have got served first like we should have been served first since we arrived first.

My family and I have loved going here to eat because of the good food. However when we had wanted Mexican one night, we parked where we park every time to go to taco gabbys for dinner and it used to be shared parking between the two restaurants and when we came out one of the staff from la gitana was writing down our license plate number and said if we ever parked there again they would have us towed saying that only la gitana customers could park there. And the employee was rude about it as well even though we explained that there was no signs saying it was not shared parking anymore and we were not aware of it. We emailed the owners and got a email back only saying they hope the great food will bring us back. Such an unprofessional way to address the problem! An apology would have been better. Not going back again since that. Learn to treat those situations better and address the issue!

Food was ok. Our waitress was not friendly and was to busy socializing with her friend/boyfriend to attend to us. We sat down and waited for some time to the point my husband had to stop our waitress and ask if we could order, she replies with "yes" then walks away. Really? Once we finally ordered our waitress never bothered to check on us for the rest of our time there not even for the bill. My husbands food came out after my son and I were finished eating due to some mix up, witch happens. No big deal that didnt bother us so much. It was the fact the our waitress never informed us of the mix up, or why he had not recieved his food but that another extremely sweet waitress informed us and apologized for the mix up because our waitress was at the next table flirting.

Ok first of all, for all the reviewers leaving comments like,"the pizza was greasy," lets stop and remind ourselves for a second that real cheese comes with real milk-fat, not substitute, rubber, Kraft-brand cheese. Sorry the pizza wasnt american enough for you. Second, the old owner of Old School Pizzeria (downtown Olympia) himself eats there and admits that its the best pizza around. What other kind of professional opinion would you need? The pizza is delicious and true to authentic, Italian style. The new one opening on Capitol Blvd. (downtown Olympia) will give Vics, Old School, and Fornos a run for their money.

We LOVE this restaurant!!! I eat gluten-free and ordered their gluten-free pasta, which was wonderful! They also have gluten-free pizza as well as gluten-free dessert options. This is a family-friendly restaurant. They brought paper and crayons to our two-year-old. They also brought him water with a lid and a bendy straw, and it even had a cute little umbrella in it! The setting was very cute, and there was a fresh red rose on every table. Our waiter was great too! We will definitely be returning to this adorable, little restaurant!!!

Pizza crust is so thin it is like a tortilla. Service is not good. I was served one small glass of water when seated and never got a refilll. The excuse was that they were busy and a very small restaurant. You need to allow 2 hours to eat there because you will have to wait so long for someone to take your order and then wait again for the food. Is the food worth the wait? Not really. Overpriced very thin pizza.

Located halfway between Seattle and Portland about 15 minutes off I-5 in Yelm, Washington, La Gitana is a culinary delight, serving authentic wood fired Italian pizza. If youre looking for Pizza Hut, La Gitana isnt for you. Pizza isnt Americanized. This is state-of-the art, thin crust, with amazing organic ingredients, and beautiful presentation. Totally worth the drive.
