The Golden Wheel, although their "stiffest drink in the valley" moniker is correct, is sinking, considering the reviews Ive read elsewhere. The restaurant itself could use a face lift, and some effort put into noise control. Clearly hearing conversations from the other side of the room killed any conversation of our own; being partially deaf I shouldnt have heard them at all, but might as well have been sitting with them instead of 30 feet away. Heard every word. Its hard to mess up a Long Island Ice Tea, but the bartender managed. Not sure if it was cheap rotgut gin, mixed way out of proportion or what, but it took a teaspoon of table sugar and an hour to drink it. My partner asked for a Colorado Bulldog, even described how it was made, and back came a Smith and Wesson. Close, just swap the cola and creme proportions. Dinner was edible. The breading on my sweet and sour chicken was soft and gummy, the sauce from a jar, the fried rice as bland as it could be. Her egg foo yong was passable, a bit gummy and bland as well, but good enough for her to take the leftovers. If youre looking for the stiffest drink around, and can stomach the mixology, go for it. If youre looking for GOOD Chinese cuisine, this isnt your destination...

My wife and I went there this week. I have loved Chinese food for over 45 years. This was absolutely HORRIBLE food: My wife ordered one of their combinations with chow mien and almond chicken. The chow mien was mushy and soggy. The almond chicken was slathered down with BEEF gravy! no one puts beef gravy on chow mien. I had Mongolian beef. I dont know what they use for beef, but it wasnt good. Thankfully, there wasnt much of it the dish was mostly horrible tasting noodles. The waiter confirmed the beef gravy on the chicken. I brought our concerns to the attention of the lady that took our bill. She said that they have been using beef gravy for 75 years. Well, I worked in a Chinese restaurant in the 60s and I know thats bull. As usual, there was NO offer to do anything about the very poor meal we had. We will NEVER go back. I had horrible service and was told I was ridiculous. Im told it was the owner herself but all I know for sure is that she was a terrible server. There is no excuse for the way she treated us. There was a mix up with the order so we informed her and she became very upset, accused me of ordering it, calling me a liar and called me ridiculous and stormed off. My friends and I werent rude or bad costumers and I was never rude throughout her yelling at me either.. She came back and practically threw my card in my face and stormed off yet again. First and last time I go there!

Drinks are stiff, old school decor, food is "okay", and the food portions are massive. This is not authenticate by any means. Last experience: We went on New Years Day. Places busy and staff was extremely stressed our and rushed. Food came out overcooked and some plates cold. Kinda of a downer since we only frequent this place once in awhile and wanted some good Americanized Chinese food. Unfortunately we probably will not come back due to we have other option in the area.

It is strange to read such low ratings for this restaurant, I am not sure these are actual reviews because every other site holds the Golden Wheel in such high regards. This restaurant has been around for 75 years, one of the only ones in town to last so long. I visit the Golden Wheel regularly and they are always on the top of their game, from food, to drinks and service. I recommend them to anyone without reservation.

Worst food ever. I ordered the spareribs and I got this gob of black goop. It was disgusting. I tired to scrap it off and eat the meat and after two bites I couldnt force anymore down. I was soo upset and hungry, tears ran down my face. I am not a picky eater ,but this was the nastiest food Ive ever had. The worst disappointment ever on a empty stomach.

Their food was okay. Old school Chinese and Cantonese food. Service was very slow and they werent busy at all. Compared to other similar restaurants in town, they were overpriced. Not impressed overall. Especially after they totally forgot about our drinks, and asked me if I wanted a box to go when I wasnt even a quarter way through my meal.

The patrons...oh, man, the patrons... Okay, they werent actually that bad, but if youre thinking of going for karaoke, the song selection totally is. Also, I dont know if the alphabet is different in Yakima, but nice try, trying to convince me those books were alphabetized.

We had dinner here tonight and will be coming back. I had the vegetarian vegetable chop suey, husband had the #9 dinner with a side of prawns and a side of egg foo young. Super delicious. The waitress was friendly and helpful. Thank you Golden Wheel.

without doubt the worst chinese food i have ever had. i had the monolian beef and the meat was undercooked the noodles had an aweful taste.will never go back their again. and horrible service . also still stinks like ciggerettes in there

Peanut chicken over deep fried noodles. Absolutely excellent! Bbq pork appetizer was best Ive had. Large portions. Friend had Mongolian Beef. He loved it. Nice staff and prompt service. Groovy jazz on the speakers. Ill be back!

While I have never eaten there, I have had drinks in their lounge and I HIGHLY recommend! Their staff was great and the service was excellent. Their owner is a great gentleman who has his customers needs as his first priority!

this place was honestly a joke. This food was the worst Chinese ive ever had, flavorless beef and mushy noodles and chicken, along with a weird gravy sauce on something resembling a chicken fried steak. very dissapointing.

I eat here all the time and its always amazing! I cant get enough of the beef lo mien, its one of the best things ever. Not to mention the great service! If your ever there ask for Sherri (y?), Shes the best there is :)

We decided to take a chance on the Golden Wheel tonight and it was money poorly spent. We both walked away feeling sick to our stomach. Portion sizes were large but the food was very mediocre. Staff was friendly.

The food is more then worth the price. Half the time I cant finish it and need to take some home. Drinks are the strongest around. Staff is fast and friendly. Plus they have a great karaoke host friday and saturdays

My favorite Chinese food in town. HUGE PORTIONS decent price. Everything is tasty. Restaurant bar in back is called lotus room. Hard paying nights always start there to get lotus eyed before going out on the town.

Great food WOW drinks but I might be prejudice Ive known the family since I was twelve and we were neighborhood kids together. And Harvey built great hot rods back in the day!
