THE BEST, dining experience I have ever enjoyed. The place was spotless and the bathroom was very clean. The staff were gracious, friendly and efficient. I loved the soothing Indian music playing softly in the background. Being something of a cook myself, I respect how much skill is involved in preparing Indian cuisine. When dining out, I get ideas for preparing meals at home and have been successful at it, but I could never duplicate the work of these artisans from my kitchen: The Red Lentil Soup was the most delicious I have ever tasted, and as spices are blended subtly in every dish, our entrees were truly savory. Chicken was cooked to perfection and we were able to order our dishes as spicey hot as we wanted - we like it hot and they delivered! My husband burned through almost the entire basket of bread on his own and I must recommend the Mango Pudding with Almonds - Excellent dessert during hot weather: it was cool and creamy with a careful blend of spices and garnished with sliced Almonds. Absolutely incredible. They offer generous portions and we could not finish our meals which weve happily brought home and will be enjoying for breakfast. The prices are very reasonable. We will certainly be back!

I've been to a lot of indian cuisine restaurants and gateway to India was by far the best fun I've ever had and the food was exceptional! NOW, this was the first buffet style Indian restaurant I've ever been to but that was what made this cool, the owner was out by the bar when I came in and I asked him what he liked; next thing I know, I'm following him through the buffet with my plate and he's showing me how to arrange my plate for optimum tastiness :) I was having a blast! Which brings me to the meal; I'm not sure I can quite put into words how great it was! The best I can do is WOW! Every bite was unique and exploding with flavor. Trust me, I don't make this crap up. It was amazing how all the flavors just mesmerized my taste buds. By the time I was dome eating I had to write this before I could try the dessert to give my tummy time to settle from being so full :) ................ Now that my tummy has settled, the verdict is in, the kheer(rice pudding) and the mango pudding were a delightful end to a great experience. Overall I give this experience a solid 10 out of 10 lots of fun and amazing food. Definitely check this place out :) -cheers-

So I normally would say my experience with this place is beyond amazing, So today I came and there was an error in communication . But she insisted in arguing that i was wrong, and that because she is from india that she knows what she doing and that she knows the languge , and she been working there for a long time and has great memory, and all I wanted to do is pay extra for what i wanted, because what was giving im super allergic to and i made sure the only item i can eat was order . BUT D and M are totally too different sounds, Will find another location because was never treated badly in front of my god kid, *espically when my god kid hears here talking bad about the interaction in the kitchen. The only positive experience was she didnt charge me for the correction after i offer to pay for it.

Food is always consistent and everything but 2 items are gluten free. I am a vegan and there are many dishes offered vegan. They offer a buffet which I Never try anywhere. It looked like your typical Indian buffet. The ambience of the restaurant is fair. They are under staffed at times but the service is always friendly. Enough space to eat in privacy... They make there own cheese in house and soup comes with every entree. The restaurant is family owned like about every other Indian restaurant. Ive yet to see any of them. I asked if they make there sauces and chutneys from scratch. I was told some are and some are not. So I stayed away from anything out of a can. The server was knowledgeable about all the food and where it came from. Sustainable eating is not offered here.

Food was decent. Garlic naan is pretty good. Lamb Masala wasnt bad either. Not amazing, but I enjoyed it. Took them 40 minutes to bring a couple of masala dishes and some naan. I asked them to check that the order was put in and they said its all prepared fresh and thats the reason for a delay. Problem is, another server said they were trying to finish serving a large group. Not exactly a consistent reason. They rarely came around to refill my water. Not too pleased with that. They dropped off the check, but took 10-15 minutes to take my card to pay. They were in no rush to come near our table and tend to us. The restaurant was maybe 40% full so they werent really busy. I feel like they just werent very urgent to be there for you. For that, 3 stars. Food is 4 stars. So 3 1/2.

Some of the best Indian food I have ever had! My wife stopped by while we were staying in Downtown Tacoma (we are from Florida) and we love Indian food. When we travel we are always trying the local Indian cuisine. So the reviews on this place were pretty good so we decided to give it a try. at first, we were a little gun-shy due to the location and exterior but thankfully we went in and tried it because it was fantastic! Both of the our dishes were savory and delightful with the price being pretty reasonable as well. I had the marsala dish and it was great ranks as one of the best Ive had. I always make it a point to try the marsala.

To those that say this is one of the best restaurants in Tacoma, you really need to get out more. The service was outstanding and the staff very pleasant. The food was average at best. The saag paneer might be the worst I have had in a restaurant and the rice came watery. We also had vindaloo and naan which were both o.k. Maybe it was just a bad day for the cook. I have eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants around the country and the food here just did not cut it. This is comming from someone totally unbiased with no axe to grind. I have to wonder if some of the other ad-like reviews are from family or staff members.

I was coming to this restaurant since the end of 1990s, when it occupied only half of the present building. It used to be very good, but still never as great as "Taj Mahal" - the Indian restaurant in Frightenhouse square (long gone since then). But now this one is gone downhill big time. I do not go there too often nowadays. Been there today first time in two years and left very disappointed: I asked for 0 spiciness for my Vindaloo, they told me it will be 2, but brought me 5 star spicy one - my eyes were runny while I ate it. NEVER AGAIN! (The lady-hostess was very sweet though, five stars for her).
