First off, Ive never posted a review online. I feel this deserves to be shared. Hopefully the owner will read this and make some needed changes, possibly a pep talk. Maybe its me however, when customers walk into a business of any kind, they should be greeted almost immediately, if no one is available, when they become available is soon enough. Thats just common courtesy. Despite reading, not very flattering, reviews of this place. My friend and I decided to check it out. We support our local businesses. After standing there for a few minutes while one of your employees sings Ms. American Pie and the other three (3) just..... I dont know... They just stood there not saying a word to us, just stood there behind the counter, admiring the smell of old forgotten dreams and heartbreak. What they didnt do was say a single word, smile, or acknowledge us in anyway. Im from Tacoma and I love my city... So whats with the stuck up, lazy fake ass rude hipster bitches and the wanna be American Idol pedophile looking ass singer? Get some good employees, febreeze, open the windows oh and better employees would be awesome too!!!

This is my favorite restaurant in all of Washington. It is the perfect place to spend a peaceful morning or afternoon with delicious food and coffee and an inspiring space to sit and think, or work, or talk with friends. The reuben sandwich is the best Ive had west of the Mississippi and maybe the best Ive had anywhere. The milkshakes make my mouth water just thinking about them and the coffee is delicious and theres always a fresh pot brewing. All in all, this place defines the term "healthy environment" in every way. The food is all incredibly fresh and healthy, the service is warm and friendly, the decor is beautiful with big tables and high ceilings that make you feel youre in a church or a barn or music hall, there is always great music--sometimes live music--and it always seems to be filled with smiling people enjoying each others company or doing good work. I feel lucky to have found the Antique Sandwich and it makes me feel better about the world that a place like this still exists. It is truly a communal space--helping to foster and nourish community in every way.

I have been eating there since the 70s, and for one thing I would like to say that there ARE mens and womens separate commodes upstairs that are *actually* for the public. Apparently the previous reviewer used the commode in the entry to the kitchen that is not really for the public, but is often used by them. Also, I think a lot of people dont realize that they dont cook with sugar (usually use honey) so their sweets taste different than people are used to. Still delicious, just not exactly what you are expecting. Their greens are incredible and taste like they were just picked from the garden and their soups, etc. are delicious. I highly recommend it. Just dont expect it to taste like your run-of-the-mill restaurant. It is a much healthier choice.

We ordered four things, only two were recommendable: 1) Mocha: excellent, smooth, Im happy. Im no coffee person though so take this with a grain of salt. 2) bagel w/ salmon special: excellent. Toasted bagel and yummy combo of ingredients. 3) cheese/sprouts/tomato sandwich: what a joke. Store-bought bread at a sandwich shop? Shredded cheese that looks and tastes like Kraft? Came with a salad that was clearly a standard spring mix from your local grocer. 4) pita & hummus: the pita was toasted at least, so we ate it. But... Im not impressed. Pretty sure the hummus was store bought too. Many of their items look amazing: the cinnamon rolls on the counter look exquisite. Just... Be careful with what you order.

This is a breath of fresh air..stepping into this beautiful building and takingin the antiques, local artistry, and friendly smiles was fantastic. Family Freindly, lots of seating, large dining area, and several menu choices. Fresh made organic ingredients all made to order. I have several food allergies and was able to find something suitable on the menu. I hope to see Gluten Free bread soon- but I did give that suggestion before I left. Great Coffee, warm atmosphere, and I hear they have an open mike night too! I plan on returning..Definately a quaint spot to relax, read a book and sip on your favorite beverage!

I live a block away and have only eaten there twice in the 10 years Ive lived in the northend... The people are friendly and the food is good... Nothing spectacular... Just basic dishes... But the one thing that keeps me away is the prices... I would eat there more if the prices were reasonable... But theyre not... Two simple sandwiches and a soups for two people... Ending bill came to over $40 dollars plus tip... I wish the prices were better... My family would eat there more often but because of the outrageous prices we are forced to drive 3 miles away to the next best thing.

Friendly service in an eclectic and cozy atmosphere. Bought gingerbread (alamode and delicious!) and coffee after a brisk and chilly run through Point Defiance park. Our group warmed our bones on a sofa and were pleasently served by some young folks. The food and beverages are made with quality in mind, nothing overly showy. The whole cafe is peppered with trinkets, books, and odds and ends that catch your eye and make for conversation. It always seems to be full on weekend mornings when I visit, but the service is uncompromised. This is a north Tacoma jem.

Definitely a throwback to 70s NW sandwich shops - get your fresh roasted turkey on whole wheat with sprouts here. All the sandwiches are good, pretty reasonably priced. They also have hot dishes like quiche...check the boards. Also you can get decent coffee and desserts here. The biggest drawback is that its kind of dirty in here. Avoid looking at the window sills, and youll probably be okay. Very laidback and kid friendly. This establishment is the sister of Traditions in Olympia.

Ive lived a block away for almost 5 years and Ive eaten here twice. I got food poisoning the first time but decided to try again. Ordered a pb&j and some bread pudding. The sauce on the bread pudding was sour and tasted rancid and the bread on my sandwich was hard. I dont understand what the fuss is about this place other than its been here forever. I would rather eat 2 blocks down at Dons Ruston Market. They have amazing food.

This is a wonderful and friendly, spacious cafe and lunch food place, but also uses its large dining area to host a variety of special events. I recently went to an evening of flamenco music and dance, and had one of the best times ever! Food is simple and healthy, and mostly sandwich, soup, etc, and it is always welcoming, and never feels like they want to rush anyone out... I only wish I lived closer...

Walking by with my dog on a Monday just after opening. Thought about getting a warm cup of coffee from a piece if history... Instead I got a cold stare, a smirk and rude remarks. No dogs allowed! When I asked about a place to latch him I was told - "if your smart enough to find one" - I couldnt believe the rudeness! I just closed the door and walked away with my money in my pocket.

Stopped here for the first time for a quick lunch on the go. Had the Reuben sandwich and Hubby had the Salami and Cheese. Liked mine better. The veggies on the sandwiches were fresh and crisp. My salad was okay, nothing special. Id go again but I will call ahead because it took the girls forever to make my sandwich. Also kinda pricey for the size of the sandwich.
