Ahhh yes one of 2 neighborhood cafes offering, among other things, authentic New Mexican-style food. You may scoff at reading that - few states have their own cuisine, after all. But, ferreals, the breakfast burrito with green chili is effin MAGICAL. That burrito takes me right back to a little corner shop in Albuquerque run by The Burrito Lady and make no mistake its one of the best. Ive personally tried dozens of variations in and around the 505 (eastsiiide!) and theres just something enchanting about crispy hashbrowns and the creeping heat of a roasted green chili sauce, it makes you feel alive. THIS PLACE HAZ IT AND YOU CAN HAZ TOO. So theres other stuff on the menu as well, but umm...well Im sure its all fantastic but dat burrito, my friends. That breakfast burrito....do yourself a favor and buy a jar of green chilis while youre there. After you order, swerve yourself next door to BEER, where you can wash down that sweet heat with some craft brew. They welcome outside food and the pairing is perfect. 5 stars. best breakfast burrito in town.

Really wasnt impressed. The little rustic sandwich shop look sparked my interest and I was ready to dabble in another little hidden gem of portland, but there was one problem. I did not enjoy the food. I, like the average American, know my way around the sandwich, but was left very underwhelmed. The cuban sandwichs flavor was masked by overpowering orange juice concentrate flavor, a bland topping combination, and soggy bread. My girlfriends salad was attempting to be unique and fancy but was just ended up weird and kind of gross. Staff wasnt the friendliest bunch either. Perhaps I just swooped in at the wrong time, but I didnt enjoy my time at meat cheese bread.

Id love to give this place a better review but its tough. They are close and I think they potential. Their competitors just up the street at Laurylhurst Market has it dialed in. I bought the turkey sandwich here and it literally was just meat, cheese, two slices of bacon, a bit of lettuce and bread. Too plain and too dry. Come on guys. Switch to arugula, throw on some pickled onion, a little dressing and pepperoncinis. It also didnt help that I was double charged for my meal. Your close people. A little more and youll be great.

The worlds best sandwiches. See, the thing is, I grew up on sad, pathetic little sandwiches, and I never really considered myself a sandwich person. Meat Cheese Bread changed all that. As the name suggests, these guys strip the sandwich down to its core, rebuild it with first-rate local ingredients and simple-yet-inventive combinations. They elevate sandwich-making to a work of art. I challenge you to find a better sandwich anywhere. Ive searched and Ive tried, and I keep eagerly coming back to Meat Cheese Bread.

We were in the neighbourhood after a pit stop at Voodoo Doughnuts and wanted a good quality lunch. Ordered the Park Kitchen flank steak sandwich. Easily one of the best sandwiches Ive ever had. Fresh sour dough bun was sublime as was the generous portion of perfectly cooked meat. The greens in the sandwich were also delicious combined with the blue cheese aioli. Bought a pint of some suhweet craft lager next door to go with it. Wow!

Best sandwiches and breakfast burritos in Portland. I look forward to sampling the rest of the menu. The food doesnt lean on excess grease or sauce, but a beautiful ensemble of excellent quality ingredients, masterfully assembled. I cant recommend it heartily enough. If you come here, make sure to let them know you want it to stay open later (it closes at 7!). I would eat here every night if it were open just an hour later...

Located right next to a similarly simply named pub called Beer with over 100 different bottled brews... these hole-in-the-wall style establishments are owned by the same guy. I havent had any sandwich or soup here that I havent liked. Plus theres good tunes, free wifi, and friendly service. Lunch time can be quite busy, but make sure you stop by if you come through Portland. They even have 15+ different hot sauces. Yummm.

THE spot for your sandwich fix. The name says it all - dont expect any dietary accommodations for allergies/sensitivities, as this place is stripped down to what they do best - DELICIOUS sandwiches and goodies. The breakfast sandwiches are my favorite - the steak and egg with bleu cheese on brioche is tough to beat. The price is a little high to make it a regular lunch stop, but its perfect for the occasional treat.

Fabulous spot for a quick bite. Comfortable outdoor seating and reasonable prices make this a great place to go when its sunny and youre hungry. It is fairly small inside, however, so take out is also a good idea. The sandwiches are fresh and fun, too, and I highly recommend the Borscht sandwich if youre looking for a non-carnivorous option. The meat selections are tasty, and I especially love the turkey option.

This place was an unexpected delight!! A little charming store front with amazing things happening inside. The sandwiches were so good that I want to jump on my bike and go back everyday. We had the hot Asparagus, he bread was perfect combination with the bacon relish and fresh asparagus. Also, had the breakfast Steak and Egg, the flank steak was so tender, the whole thing was a juicy and hearty.

I had the Park Kitchen sandwich. Everything about it was clean, fresh and very tasty. I have a personal adversity to bread that has particularly hard crusts (which this bread had), so eating it was a bit of a work out. I will definitely be going back and trying one of their hot sandwiches soon. Price fell in line with most higher-quality sandwich places in town ($7-10 or so).

I would say Meat Cheese and Bread is the most "Portland " of all the great sandwich shops in pdx. Very unique, rustic, and sometimes weird, but really flavorful. Pork shoulder is my go to - theyve changed it up more than once and the current version is great. Breakfast items are great too. Everybody should come here at least once to try it. Youll be back again.

One of my favorite Portland restaurants. Great sandwiches with regular specials--but when theyre gone, theyre gone, so get on it. The breakfast burrito and steak sandwich are great, quick breakfast options and they serve coffee that is, mercifully, not Stumptown. Not cheap, but worth the money 100%. (Also the peanut butter rice crispie treats are amazing.)

I didnt have a sandwich here but these guys may just have the best chocolate chip cookie in all of Portland. Its moist, its chewy, and its jam-packed with high quality chocolate, a few pistachios, and a sprinkle of sea salt. The guy at the counter was a little surprised that I was only coming in for a cookie, but he was happy enough to sell it to me.

The Park Kitchen sandwich was like a party in my mouth. My fiancé got the special, a green chile bread pudding, that was also great, but go with the sandwich. The guy who took our order was friendly with just the right amount of chattiness. Well definitely come back. (The only drawback was the showcased art... Weird. Just not my style I guess.)

This is the only sandwich shop in Portland that successfully strikes the balance between inventive favors and otherwise no-nonsense service and music fit for human beings who show up to make your sandwich every day. I have always loved this place, and have literally never had anything approaching a bad experience.
