Not to indict myself but Ive been in a lot of bars and worked in a few more. From the moment I rode by this place on my bike it caught my eye. It had just the right look of cambridge brick, english ivy, neon and well-worn steps to look inviting. In other words, not uptight and "classy", not sketchy hole-in-the-wall yikes get-me-out-of-here dingy. Others here have described the ambience in the place far better than I can and I would agree...kind of a "relaxed fit jeans" feel about the place. Very friendly and attentive barstaff (in that slightly geeky, studious, earnest Seattle way) and great beers on tap. The food is well, pub-grub. Recommend the nachos supreme (or something like that) as the guy in the kitchen meticulously loads each INDIVIDUAL CHIP with cheese and toppings by hand....and there are lots of chips! You wait a little longer but hey you got UDub on the TV and Arcade Fire playing on the stereo and youre watching the dude loading each one and who gives a hoot this isnt McDonalds thank McChrist. And after waiting a whopping 10 minutes he brings it out and the dish is truly a sight to behold. And the barstaff gives him grief about it in a friendly, kidding way and before you know it, in between chiming in on the ribbing and chowing down on the nachos and chasing it all down with a fine microbrewed pale ale, you feel like youve known them for years and everyone in there is relaxed and having a good time and theyre all your good friends and well...its just cool. Go check it out.

Great staff. Great food. Leave your attitude at the door. And to the reviewer mentioning the "fat" bartender: act like a douche get treated like a douche. Dont come back.

Had to wait for a while to get the nachos I ordered. Maybe because of the baseball game that was going on. But the quantity was huge. So it was worth it.

This place keeps this neighborhood alive. Awesome bartenders and staff and great food. This is a place to be if you like your low key neighborhood bar.
