I love Bamboo Garden! The best part about this place is the staff - they are friendly, attentive, and love seeing familiar faces. The food is decent Chinese-American, without being greasy. Being a half-chinese vegan makes it hard to find Chinese food of high enough quality that is also guaranteed without animal products. The menu is vast, and certain dishes are not as good as others. I am not a huge fan of fake meat, but they do a nice job here. One friend I brought here thought it was the real thing until I took a bite of her food :) Sometimes it can be very bready, but that may just how it is with a food primarily made of gluten. (Their fake meats are gluten/soy-based). If you are terrible at making decisions, bring a friend or three and eat family style so you can try lots of dishes! Or go at lunch time and try one of their lunch combinations - all come with a little bowl of corn chowder, which you will love or hate. Parking is usually available, as they have their own lot. Just be warned it can get tricky, since the lines are in need of repainting and the lot itself is pretty uneven. But you should be taking public transportation anyway. My favorite items are the hot & sour soup, any mushroom dish, and the "Ruby Princess," a tangy, saucy, sweet&sour shmeat and veggie dish. They are very understanding and conscious of food sensitivities/allergies. Not sure what to tell you if you cant do soy, but if you have trouble with gluten they will make sure your food is as free of it as is possible in a very-gluteny kitchen. Try them out! Great portions and value, excellent service, and very tasty food.

This is a really cozy place to go. Fast Chinese food thats completely vegetarian with quick and accommodating staff! Ive eaten here countless times for lunch and dinner and have always ordered from the dinner menu. The lunch menu isnt as pricey, but for those like me who order predominantly from the dinner menu - the price is pretty high. They also charge for hot tea. Bummer. A few key points to mention: Bamboo Garden is certified Kosher!! How great is that? They do not use Garlic or Onions (assuming bc of Buddhist beliefs). And the mock meats are not shaped or made to taste like the meat theyre replicating. So no gross factors there! I love their mock chicken meat and their mock ham and hot dog meat. I usually order chicken with shiitake and enoki mushrooms. This is Good! The shiitake mushrooms are HUGE and the sauce in this dish is quite tasty! Their corn chowder soup is pretty good (thickened with Flour - no Gluten free option there) and their almond chicken dish is really tasty! Its chicken mock meat fried in a spring roll type of shell. Theres almond sauce poured over it.... Yum. I also like their Chicken chow mein, special crispy chow mein, and their "bacon" fried rice. Bamboo Garden has an extensive menu. Ive tried a lot of their dishes and needless to say I have my favorites. Some may find a few of their dishes bland, but dont give up!! There are Good dishes here! Youll find your favorites in no time. Food 5 Service 5 Decor and Ambience 3 Cleanliness 3

With all the mixed reviews, I had to try this for myself. Everything at the restaurant is vegetarian. Many traditional dishes are available. We each got a lunch combo, and it was very well priced. $8-$10 gets you a very filling meal. It clearly said there is a separate menu if you are vegan and it is available upon request. Im not sure if people are complaining about the vegan menu not being vegan, or the vegetarian (non-vegan) menu being not vegan. We did not try to order from the vegan menu, so I do not have much of an input here. The food was very delicious and it was very reasonably priced. We did not have to wait long, and it was noon on a weekday. I have never given any Chinese Restaurant a 5 star review due to their rude and unacceptable customer service. The first time we were there, we did not have the best experience when it came to customer service, but it was still better than most other Asian restaurants. Since then, weve been back about ten or more times. They are very helpful, theres never been a wait, and better customer service than Ive seen at any other restaurant. Ive changed the review from 4 to 5 stars. They also have free parking, which is almost unheard of in Seattle. They also monitor their parking lot to make sure your car is safe. Highly recommend this place. At least try it, especially if you are a vegetarian.

Bamboo Garden is a tradition in my family. We love coming to visit and we have our staple dishes that we always order. I always get the chicken chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, and almond fried chicken. This place is a must visit for vegetarians. They make the best vegetarian Chinese food in Seattle. I would suggest trying everything on the menu to find your favorites. The Buddha baskets are delicious as well. I would definitely try a hot plate at least once. There is free parking in the lot right next to the restaurant. I do have to warn that it is NOT wheelchair accessible or friendly. The bathrooms are super tiny. The womens bathroom has two tiny stalls and there is barely any room to walk for more than 2-3 people. The service could be better. The waiters and waitresses have been there since it opened probably and theyre usually friendly but can be very blunt. That may be a turn-off for newcomers especially if they havent tried the food yet.

This place does vegetarian food RIGHT! Ive tried ~ a dozen dishes here and everything is full of flavor. The different sauces they whip up are all amazing. The chef carefully combines a variety of vegetables for each dish to balance complementary textures and tastes. I always leave satisfied and never find myself wanting for meat. I usually dont like fake meat (textured soy products), as I find them trying too hard to be something theyre not and end up just a pale sad shadow of disappointment. But the fake meat here is actually pretty good - textured enough to be interesting and great for soaking up the sauces. Another thing that I love about this place - the service is blisteringly fast. They must cook with fire from a jet engine to be able to turn out dishes within minutes. The food also come out a million degrees so watch out!

A lifelong vegetarian says- "Great taste!" Wait staff = impatient. Nice dishes which were vegetarian AND kosher as well. 5 stars for food, 3 stars for service, 2 stars or less for the impatient and hurried (rude?) staff including the manager/owner(?) who rushed us out the door. Customers (complete strangers) were much more friendly to our small family! Clean, tiny bathrooms, horrid parking, but fast service. Suggest you "buy and fly" with a to-go order and enjoy this superb food in a more nurturing environment. (I agree with the previous poster who claims the atmosphere is "just shy of prison.") If they need to cram high numbers of people through their place just to keep the profits high, GO TO THE THAI SIAM INSTEAD, AND EAT GOOD THAI FOOD!
