My family and I went on a Saturday evening after another local establishment had run out of food. We were prepared for a long wait after reading the other reviews. We were seated at the back most room after about a two to three minute wait at the front door. The restaurant is in an old building with numerous rooms on different levels. The decor was minimal but nice. Our waitress “Megan” was very pleasant and very busy. She brought our drink orders right away and worked with my dietary request without any problems. The only time I saw her standing still was while taking an order or putting the order into the system. The food was well worth the approximate hour wait. My wife and youngest son both had a burger and fries medium rare. Both came out a nice red to pink color. The oldest son had the fish and chips. The fish was large pieces of a white fish served with Texas fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce in a galvanized bucket with wax paper that had print on it to look like an old newspaper. It also came with a slice of lemon. I state this because as of late every time I get any type of fish I have to ask for some lemon. When did a lemon slice stop coming standard with fish. His only complaint was the portion size of coleslaw, it came in a small, very small, condiment cup. I had the half rack of ribs plan with seasonal vegetables and a house salad. The ribs were very good, they fell off the bone quit easily. The seasonal vegetables were a mix of yellow squash and zucchini. They still had a little bit of snap to them so they were easy to pick up with a fork. They only problem I had was no dark beer on tap. As this is supposed to be a tavern I would have thought it would have some type of dark beer on tap. But as a dark beer drinker I find that it is not always available and I have to get it when and where I can. The next time I find myself in the area of Woodstock, VA with some time to kill I will be going back to Spring House Tavern. 4.5 Stars easy for Megan and the food.

The food here was very good...as travelers with a pet we had to order takeout...after calling on Friday night we were told 15 minutes...the actual wait was close to an hour...apparently the kitchen was overwhelmed by an unexpected crowd...well, Im not sure why a restaurant would be surprised to be busy on a Friday night of a holiday weekend...the service was friendly and the food was very good...I had the Hawaiian Pork Medallions with Mac and Cheese side...the Mac and Cheese is a must request for a side dish...the medallions were tender and meaty...the Hawaiian flavoring was terrific...Id give this place a mulligan on the slow service...I would recommend eating here for anyone visiting Woodstock, VA.

From the outside Spring House Tavern looks several steps up from most small town eateries. Inside the service and food is far superior to what you may expect. The food is delicious, and the portions are large enough to split unless you are ravenously hungry. Some of the desserts can easily be shared by two, even three, moderate eaters. The hundred year old house has been remodeled into four or five dining areas, and eating early, we had an entire room to ourselves. The owners have restaurants in Winchester and Front Royal, and I plan to dine in all of them.

Service was great! Friendly hostesss & great waitress. Thats about it. I ordered the seafood fetuccine & bloomin shrooms for an appetizer. The fettucine noodles were over cooked, the scallops were bland, & the shrimp seemed old & dry. The crab stuffed mushrooms were dry & the shrooms were still hard not cooked through. Of course ill be back i mean its not like there are many choices when i come for a visit & this was the one and only time i was disappointed. Hopefully they will have a new cook next time.

Highly recommend this place we ordered the jalapeño poppers and they were wonderful. My husband ordered the Salmon and said it was delicious. I had the angry chicken and it was wonderful. Everything was cooked fresh and the vegetables were yummy and fresh. They have a full bar which was nice. The staff was very friendly and told us about neat things to go visit in town! Really loved this place and will definitely be back.

The food is local and good, however not worth the wait of an hour for two kids cheeseburgers and a taco salad. Waitress did not even take time to stop and explain until I asked what was taking so long. Her explanation is as they had a large party and some reservations. Obviously unprepared for these situations. I will not be back again based off the poor service and communication.

In from North Carolina visiting with my family from here. My girlfriend wanted to take my mother out , so being a tradition from the area we all agreed Spring House. The food was good but the service was disrespectful and blanton. I wouldnt recommend this to any family till they can understand what customer service is.

I dont know what it is about this place, but my wife and I love the tavern so very much! I guess its just the down-home feel, the friendly wait-staff, and worn-in warmth it exudes. We enjoyed it so much we actually had our wedding there last October, so needless to say, it holds a very special place in both our hearts!

Oh my goodness we had such a great time on Sunday. The wait staff was fun , the food was really good , and the wait time was comfortable even though they were busy,.....we will definitely go back . We live on the east side of the mountain range. This is a great destination ride!

Cold! Like apple storage cold. I dont understand why every restaurant these days feels that 62 is a good temp for dining. I feel I shouldnt need a sweatshirt, inside, to eat my dinner. The service is good, the food is good, just tired of paying to freeze while I eat.

Always friendly service and the staff recognize you when you show up often. The food is good and the rotating beer selection could only be better if they got rid of the "traditional" bud light, Miller light, etc. to make room for more craft selections.
