Please, do not give this restaurant your money. First of all -- I have never written a review before. However, this horrible restaurant compelled me to write something. My family has owned a home in Ruckersville, VA for over 30 years. We have tried every restaurant within a 15 mile radius throughout this time. I have been to El Jariepo 5 times. Two of which, I was 20 years of age. During those visits, I did not order alcohol and experienced mediocre service, but decent food. However, the last three times that my family has attended (since turning 21) I have had my ID scrutinized, bent, and myself been questioned as to whether it was mine. Disclaimer--I know Ruckersville is close to UVA. I know that being 21, I should have my ID checked. This is why Ive handed it to my waitress before I even order my drink. Yet still, Ive felt unwelcome, despite being with my family each and every time (my 70 year old father, not a group of young students). After voicing my irritation, we received awful service. I ordered three hard tacos, and then received two, which were undercooked and not how I ordered them. I ordered a large side of queso and did not receive it until I inquired. My father ordered white wine, and it came out hotter than any red wine Ive ever consumed, when it should have been chilled. I ordered a medium Texas margarita and even after complaining, it was 90% sours and 10% liquor. My waitress, the one who has scrutinized my government issued VA ID, did not come back to our table at all, despite the restaurant being empty. My family will most likely never return here. If you are looking for a decent Mexican restaurant, go to the Charlottesville El Jariepo location (which we often frequent and have never had an issue with--despite it being in a literal college town) or El Agave, which is just down the road. Although I was dissatisfied with being hassled multiple times, what really forced me to write this review was the awful service and less than average food.

My wife and I intended to visit Sombreros near our home in Stanardsville, but they were closed, and I suggested El Jaripeo in Ruckersville. It was crowded, and we were shown a table. We requested a booth, and they happily showed us to the last open one. A young woman took our drink order, but our waiter took over, was very friendly, explained that the a.c. was not working properly, and was patient taking our order. It was served in good time on extremely not plates. For some reason, an extra Pepsi showed up. The waiter supplied more chips but didnt refill the sauce. The food was good (taco salad and chimichanga), and the bill was not too bad. All in all, a good experience!

Great food but I work in customer service and this place lacks a lot of it. Waited 30min for a table and people that came in after us were seated before us so i gave the waiter the evil eye then when my spouse and I were seated it was in a half table that couldnt even hold all the food we ordered (2 dinners). No one ever ask if we needed anything or if are meals were good. If I ever go here again I am taking my food to go because that is the all they are good for.

Our waitress tonight was rude she set my drink down on the menu I was trying to read, when the keg ran out she told my husband that the beer was no more he couldnt have anymore and he only had half a glass at the time so he switched to water. All they had to do was change the keg. When we tried to order she acted like she didnt have time to answer our questions about the items we were thinking of ordering.

Service was very fast it was really good i had a el jaripeo special with a lime margarita delicious bee there before and allwas its a great service four stars only because they may have technical issues with hood in kitchen at the end of dinner we end up with smelly clothes.

Last time I went, the service really wasnt that great. We had to ask for water for my daughter 3 times. They brought the wrong thing twice before I got the right thing. There were other issues we had that time too. We go there quite often, and the service is usually great!

I love the place. Only thing ive noticed is when you get fajitas for carry out its about half the size you get when you eat in. Its happened 3 times. So I just eat in and take home whats left of the huge portion. The food is delicious and good service.

Big fan of their food. Had been to the location in Forrest Lakes several times before they opened this location. Its a little restaurant but the location is super convenient, service is great, and the setting is casual. I love the Burrito Verde.
