I just moved back to Va Beach after 17 years of being gone. I looked up some good BBQ and decided on giving this a try because I live close and it had good ratings. I dont mind the hole-in-the-wall, those tend to be some of the best places to get food. So that doesnt come into this review at all. Food: Let me start off by saying that the pork sandwich was good. All of my family got those. I got the pulled pork and brisket combo meal. I got fries and green beans. The beans were fine, but the fries (which I also got extra of) were just frozen out of a bag. Nothing special, but fried well and had good taste. My big issue was the beef brisket. It wasnt a slice of brisket, it was basically a home-style shredded beef BBQ sandwich. It wasnt a brisket cut, it was a chuck cut. If it was brisket, they need to rethink their cooking method. The texture and flavor were as if I wanted to make BBQ at home, so I would slow cook a chuck roast in BBQ sauce. It was just not good. The BBQ overpowered the entire thing. We got a side-order of fried pickles. You would think a small shop like this could do them well, but I had a funny feeling when the guy walked past us to the mini-marts freezers and pulled out a bag of frozen battered pickles. This was a "premium" side, which means it was $3.50. When I got my order, there was 10 pickle slices, covered in a terribly thick and previously frozen coating. We didnt eat them. It was VERY average, and I could have easily done this in a crock-pot at home. When we were leaving, we noticed the workers taking foil-covered motel pans full of new product and placing them on the grills outside. Do they ever touch the grill? Or do they simply cook in sauce the entire night? I think I know the answer... This would have been OK if it was like 5-6 bucks for a meal, but the sandwiches were 7 dollars each, and that included NOTHING else. Plain average pulled-BBQ pork sandwich, and everything else was just below average. Also, another guy ordered ribs and his were heated up in the microwave... Service: Service was quick, but I took issue with how the woman behind the counter was treating the other workers. They were seeking a new cook, and I can tell you why. This woman was being so sarcastic with the cooks behind her. Speaking slowly as if they were a child. It was demeaning, and I can tell you she will keep looking for employees if she treats them that way. Another issue is we didnt get our drink we ordered. My wife went up to the front and told the woman, "we didnt get our drink, where do I get it". The woman said as if speaking to a child "you didnt get a drink honey, only he did". My wife said, "yes, "WE" didnt get the drink". She needs to be a little more polite when speaking to customers, and they need to be a little more helpful when people order stuff. "Drinks are over there," would have been very simple after I placed my order. Cleanliness: The woman taking the orders was getting the food ready and wasnt wearing gloves like the other workers. I never leave these reviews, but this one deserves it. If you want overly-priced average food served by a woman with serious control issues, by all means patronize this place. Im sure there are better places around VB for BBQ at a much more reasonable price. 2-Stars because at least the pulled BBQ pork sandwich was OK.

Let me start by saying I did not eat here. My review is of the gas and wash. The gas is way overpriced unless you buy a wash, which was my main reason for stopping, and a great price on gas with the $12 cheapest wash. The truck was sandy from a few weeks since its last wash. Its your average automated wash. I got what I expected from it - not a great wash but what it should be at that price point. My beef is with the fuel. Im driving a one year old Tundra 5.7. I got about 2 miles away and it started pinging. Horrifying to someone with $40k in a relatively new truck. Had to buy a bottle of octane to stop it. And it has never pinged once before. Typically I stop in Wawa and thats where Ill stick to from now on. Never buy fuel here - their octane is lower than advertised.

I went to Malbon Bros based off a recommendation from a friend. It came highly recommended as the best BBQ in VA beach. This isn’t so much a restaurant as a grab and go corner of a gas station. I thought the dive atmosphere was cool and gave it a try. The pulled pork was good, but there was trash in my potato. It was some sort of wrapper or label. I couldn’t eat the rest of my food after that. I want to say it’s a one off and obviously they don’t always have trash in their food. I want to give them a second chance but I haven’t been able to bring myself back yet.

Malbon Brothers BBQ, is hands down, the very best BBQ period. You get REAL BBQ, made fresh, with the attention and taste you would expect from a local business. They really take the time, to insure, you get the very best each and everytime. Mark was especially helpful with my sons recent birthday party. Everyone wanted to know where did I get the BBQ from... "Malbons of course" Nobody can compare to the taste, service or experience this family run business has. Thanks again Mark for your personal help and attention.

This place is amazing. Its car wash is great whether you would like to use the automatic bay or the self serve. They have a happy hour gas where the prices are down compared to everyone else around and their Bar-B-Que. It is amazing. I would say it is the best in Virginia Beach hands down. If you like BBQ, you have to try this place. You would never expect it in the back of a convince store, but they know their way around pork.

My family and friends have enjoyed Malbons barbecue for many years. We visit the Corner Mart for great barbecue sandwiches and fries often. There also cater many of the events that we have attended over the years. AWESOME ! Very convenient - I have lunch - get my car washed and fill my car up with gas ..... all at the same time!

Unique is under selling the Malbon setup. You would think you were on a road trip on a country road and stumbled upon a legit bbq joint instead you are in the heart of southeast VA Beach between Sandbridge and the Resort Beaches. Awesome selection, beef brisket to die for. Try the pulled pork omelete then get your car detailed!

Got a pound of pork BBQ and slaw. Pork didnt taste or look smoked (no bark), and is very saucy. Its a Carolina style sauce, but more sugar than vinegar. Very sweet. Slaw was decent, finely shredded, but again, really sweet. Definitely edible, but nothing to write home about. Maybe Ill try the brisket next time.
