Ive been a return customer for about a decade or so already and I have absolutely ZERO complaints. What I like the most, however, is the general atmosphere. At one point I was coming here a good 3 or more times a week for lunch simply because it was convenient and clean. This isnt a five-star high-class place and it has never pretended to be - its a buffet with "international" (majority asian-themed) food; a great stop-in for those who just want decent food, in quantity, in variety, and fast. Its not a place to dress up with a date or impress others with ones "impeccable palate". Its a place to relax and eat. Some plus points for me are that its very family-friendly and above all else, very *transparent*. The staff are constantly cleaning, wiping down counters, tidying up, replenishing low items, and even bringing things out to the "party room" to prep (ie: green beans, or supplies for rangoons). I LIKE that they are comfortable in their own restaurant because it shows that they have nothing to hide, and consider cleanliness both a priority and a routine. Their wait staff change often, but I have yet to meet any that werent exceedingly nice and attentive. When I went frequently, they made the effort to already get my drink order even as they were seating me! LOL Even now, when I cant go as often, the owners still greet me with "long time no see! How are you?" So, in my opinion if anyone has complaints about this place, theyre being a bit snobby with their expectations (and thus should have gone elsewhere to begin with). For me, its always been a great place to simply relax, chat with the company Im with over a meal, and/or get some work done over lunch while having the advantage of a variety of (my preference; Asian-themed) foods to choose from at a decent price - and Id take Dynasty over any other "chinese-buffet" in the area personally because 1. I know its clean, 2. the food isnt as greasy as Ive had at some places and they do occasionally expand or change their menu while still keeping the "staples", and 3. they make me feel more at home and comfortable there. Also, while I know some others may be more nitpicky and their experiences are no less valid for it, I also think people need to be realistic to a higher degree than some of the comments here were. Its a *buffet*. If you want your food made-to-order and piping hot, then a buffet - any buffet - is not for you. To some extent the food BY DEFAULT has to stay out on display and may on occasion cool down slightly. That will happen at any buffet JUST AS IT WOULD HAPPEN AT YOUR OWN DINNER TABLE AT HOME (esp. at holidays!). You might also happen to come in on shift change, or at a time before theyve had a chance to replenish or refresh items. The wait staff are HUMAN BEINGS - occasionally they might be a little tired at the start or end of their shift. They might move a little slower on occasion, forget things every now and then, or just need to run to the bathroom sometimes. It seems to me that people for some reason forget even these most common-sense things when going anywhere nowadays. It doesnt mean a restaurant is bad - it just means theres actual people running it!

OK buffet but rude owner & manager. We are from WV but come to Salem often for business. Some friends in Salem recommended Dynasty Super Buffet so we decided to go for it and try it. My husband is white/chinese mixed. He didnt enjoy the food as most of it was cold. Nor did I. We complained to the staff and asked to speak to the manager or owner. They brought the owner over who also said he was a manager. He was very rude. I spoke to him using mandarin chinese and some of my expressions he could not understand. He said people rarely complain about the food and claimed he was the best in Salem. He also asked a rude question "Why did you find an american guy?" I told him he was mixed white/chinese and he said "If he looks a little american, hes american. he cant be mixed. one or the other." My husband speaks fluent mandarin and told him he shouldnt look at outward appearances its whats in the heart. He laughed at my husband and told him "You need to practice mandarin more. Your mandarin sounds like a foreigner." I am 100% full blood chinese and I am also a chinese language instructor in WV and I was shocked to hear this comment. My husbands mandarin sounds much better than this owners here at Dynasty. The owner pronounced at least 4 characters incorrectly during our talk with him, also as I already stated, he could not understand some of my expressions. When we were leaving, I reminded this owner to improve his own mandarin before trying to improve someone elses and reminded him not to be judgemental. He laughed again. The owner is a very rude individual. I would not come back here simply because of him. I am not sure why our friends recommended Dynasty. 1- 2 star experience.

I have been coming here 3 years. Until recently their customer service and everything else was great. But I brought one of my good friends here and the manager said "he is big". This is the male manager. I said "thats not appropriate" and he replied "ok" It seemed like he was going to apologize. But he didnt . He proceeded to tell me "save some food for someone else" when my friend went for his 5th plate. He also tried to charge us for a to-go plate we got, AFTER we paid for our buffets. I asked him what has gotten into him. He told me nothing but he has to make money. I told him i wont be returning and he said "thats ok. Everyone loves our restaurant anyway" with a dirty look. I wish I could show everyone with a recording how he was looking at us and treating us. It really was terrible. I am sticking by what I told him. I am never returning to Dynasty Buffet. We hadnt eaten / working on a roof the whole day when we arrived. Of course we were going to eat a lot of food. BTW we got our to-go food FOR FREE after about 5 minutes of protest and reminding him how long I had been their customer. He waved his hand at me as if to say "go away" and said " LEAVE NOW. " Very rudely.

DO NOT believe any of the positive reviews you read here. I liked this place once upon a time but i was there recently and it was awful. The place was dead empty, all of the staff were rude as hell, the bathrooms were disgusting (There was literally feces on the toilet seat when i went in and it was still there when i left.an hour later.) Most of the food was cold, and the food that WAS warm was awful. Literally half the food me and my friends got when we were there was bad. And to top it all off, the mussels and the pork i got that night were BOTH bad enough that i got sick before we even made it home, to the apartments on Kimball Ave!. Neither i nor my friends will ever go again I can forgive a lot of mistakes when it comes to food, but this place is beyond redemption. And given that there are 3 delivery places, a Tokyo express, 2 hibachis and a red palace (which is far better in all respects) all within the same area along with dozens of other Chinese restaurants, all of which are as good or better, id say save yourself the trouble (and food poisoning) and go somewhere else.
