I ordered a two tier cake for my baby shower yesterday and was not pleased! I am all for supporting small mom and pop businesses, but dont overplay your talent. If you are unable to deliver what I am asking for say that in the beginning instead of doing your own thing. First, my boyfriend went to pick up the cake and it was not ready she said she needed and extra hour;when we were placing the order we said we would like to pick the cake up at 11/11:30 she insisted that we pick up at 10, but yet it still wasnt ready. He immediately called me to tell me that the cake was nothing like we ordered. There was no topper, she did not do the design that we asked, the 10" cake was suppose to be chocolate and the 12" was suppose to be white instead we got two white cakes, and finally, I asked for a shiny finish, yes the cake was shiny but it was built up so much it made the fondant look dirty. The original total was $175 after tax, she took of $24 which is basically just the tax but I believe it shouldnt have been more than $100 because it was not what we ordered and had to run around trying to fix it. What was suppose to be a stress free day turned into disappointment and extra work. BOTTOM LINE I WOULD NOT BE GOING BACK OR RECOMMEND TO ANYONE ELSE.

I ordered cupcakes early in the A.M. and was told it would be ready by 2pm. When I arrived at 2:15pm the young lady that ran the register had no idea I had placed an order earlier that morning and needless to say the cupcakes werent ready. They had to completely make the color icing I ordered and put my order together which took 30 minutes. I ordered the smaller sized cupcakes but since they werent prepared for my order they upgraded to the larger option for free. I must admit I was sceptical considering all of the mishaps, but to my surprise the cupcakes smelled and tasted ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! After reading the cake reviews I wont order any specialty cakes from them, but Ill be back for more cupcakes!! If these guys had a better handle on their logistics theyd be dangerous, considering there arent many cake shops on that side of town to compete.

Horrible!! I drove all the way from Virginia Beach to Portsmouth with my baby in the car after working all day to meet with her about a wedding cake to find that they had closed and gone home. I made this appointment a week prior AND I had JUST talked to them at 11 AM that morning to confirm my appointment. I told her I got off at 5 and would have to come through traffic. She said it was fine and she would wait. Did she? NO!!! I just had spoken to her that morning!! Well apparently this was a blessing in disguise by the other reviews. Very poor customer service and Im glad I was coming to give my deposit and I hadnt already done so.

Awful Awful Awful! I do not recommend this place. Showed Mrs.Rhonda Williams a picture of the cake I needed made for my WEDDING. She assured me she could make it. To find out after I took her to court after she refused a refund (I WON) she admitted she knew the night before when trying to make the cake it didnt turn out the way she thought it would be. SHE NEVER contacted me and just brought a plain undecorated cake to my wedding! And had no type of remorse. Justice was served in court! Stay away from this place!

I placed an order 2 weeks ago for a Lego designed cake. I even called the week prior to my event to make sure they received the email with the design I wanted, and was told everything is fine and will see me on day of event. I received a call at 6:23 pm the day before and was told my cake couldnt be done, due to someone being hospitalized. I was so upset, that time of the evening where would I find a cake the day before. Well, needless to say, this was my first and last time ordering from them.

Absolutely loved the cake. My son 2 year old party was this past 5th of July 2014 weekend and I ordered a Spiderman round cake made of coconut and pineapple filling. It was to die for. Everyone enjoyed the cake and so did my little one. Just want to say thank you for the outstanding job and effort made in this cake. Job Well done. I would definitely recommend the Cake Place to anyone interested in a delicious work of art.

I had the worst experience ever with them today. I went to pick up my childs sweet 16 cake only to be told they did not make it. I asked the owner if there was a problem why didnt she call me her response was she dont call people. She was very nonchalant about the issue she act as if she did not care. I was and am so disappointed now I have to go home with no cake for my childs birthday.

Just got my birthday cake a couple weeks ago. I have been getting cakes from The Cake Place for 8 years. I LOVE the vanilla almond cake. My office has ordered cakes for baby showers and they look great. I had a sheet cake made with the likeness of Madonna (the music artist) and it was great! They do cupcakes and other tasty baked goods.

Not only is this a family oriented business that operates with integrity; but their baked goods are delicious. I havent tasted cake as moist as theirs and the brownies are a must have. The Cake Places staff is professional and I highly recommend them.

Wonderful customer service! All the cupcakes we purchased were very moist and tasty! We were also given the chance to test a sweet potato cupcake and it was phenomenal! We will be back!!!
