Love the feel of this cozy pizza joint, with great specials and beer. Frequented by college kids ... giving it a bit of a college bar feel, which is definitely not a bad thing if thats what youre looking for. Pizza here ranks on the higher end for the area ... If ... You like a pizza with a thin crust center and a bready puffier crust around the edge that still has some crunch ... a pizza that focuses on a good greasy mozzarella, with just the right amount of cheese, and a good amount of chewy brown speckles ... but a pizza that is extremely lacking on the tomato sauce ... hard to taste, which is unfortunate ... however, if you added more sauce to this same pizza, it would be too wet for the crispy thin crust ... so, if cheese is more important than sauce to you, then this pizza style is executed well. I would also note that this style shines best when served fresh while the bottom crust is still crispy. When left to sit it becomes a bit soggy. I cant speak to the reheat-able qualities as we have never had any leftovers to take home ... but I will finally note that my standard for pizza is Pepes in New Haven, CT ... and all comments above reflect how this pizza falls short of high expectations, while still landing well above many pizzas on the peninsula.

Normally I have a decent experience here at Brickhouse, but tonight was absolutely ridiculous. I arrived there around 1:20 AM, which I understand is on the later side, but all I wanted was a drink or two before last call. I waited for about 10 minutes at the bar just to be recognized and by time I finally was, a man at the bar told me that they were no longer serving. If I had been greeted upon arrival to the bar, I would have received my drink and not been as unsatisfied as I am now. While we were waiting for a drink, I turned around only to notice the entire restaurant was in complete chaos. A young man had passed out onto the floor from drunkenness, while several people were crowded around him trying to pick him up Several waiters and the bartender also tried to pick up this man and finally got him in a chair. While they were doing that, there were women standing on the booth seats and crowding everywhere. I have never seen such disorderly conduct in a restaurant. I am seriously considering never returning to this establishment due to the experience I had tonight. I would recommend not going to this business on any late night during the weekend because of how utterly ridiculous this experience was.

Brickhouse is THE local college bar. Weekend nights will have people sitting and standing shoulder to shoulder, and possibly some regular, late weekday nights as well when they start doing karaoke. Their pizzas have always been good, but quite pricey too as they range around $20 for a large two topping (e.g. Hawaiian). The owners and staff though have always been pretty damn friendly to all so strike up a conversation if you wish and maybe youll honestly meet some new friends out of it haha. If I recall correctly, their salads are also quite big if youre trying to eat less carbs but still want a huge portion of food. There are only 2 single-use bathrooms though, so expect to be waiting in a small line 5 deep any of their busy nights as the beer taps keep flowing.

I had good pizza from here once. It was amazing. Recently though, their food has been pretty bad. The pizza I ordered had a crust that was literally paper thin, and the pizza turned into a mushy soggy mess. While I waited for it I noticed a manager in there treating his entire staff like they were all three-year-olds. I know I could never work for someone who dictated my every thought and action, especially right in front of the customers. He would tell an employee what to do, and then b**ch about them to a nearby customer the minute the employee was out of ear shot. It made for an uncomfortable environment, and Ill not eat there again because of it. I have a feeling the food would be better if the management changed.

My waitress was freaking awesome!!! My sister and I went out to celebrate, so I decided to have a frozen strawberry margarita. It was so good I decided to have another one. BIG MISTAKE!!! The second drink wasnt nearly as good as the first one. Why? Because there was no freaking alcohol In it, I told the waitress and she tried her best to handle it and didnt succeed she was totally ignored by the bartenders. Its funny cause I am a waitress and I always tip my waitress of course and my bartenders when they do their jobs right. Smh I was completely ready togo after that. (That was my first time there, I will not go back) I can say the food was very delicious.

This place was disgusting...our pizza toppings were floating in grease...the pan was full of grease and when we picked our pizza up all of our toppings fell off. My friend order a philly sub w no green peppers, it came with green peppers..she sent it back and they had picked them off. When she refused to eat it the owner said she will still be charged with it, turned around and asked a guy at the bar if he wanted it..and gave it to him!! Keep in mind we both had touched the sandwich to pick the green peppers off AGAIN that they missed. This wasnt my first bad experience, I was trying to give them a second chance...numerous people walked out tonight so its not just me!

With some of the best staff in the area, Moe and the crew are always ready to quench your thirst with several quality craft brews and a full bar while filling you up with traditional NY pizza and a selection of sandwiches and burgers as well as my favorite wings (wont mention the competition, just wont get wings anywhere else). With locations in Newport News, Williamsburg, and now right near JMU, Brickhouse is an great place to sit down to a nice meal with family or watch the game with friends. Always friendly and never compromising quality, definitely check this place out today!

Great restaurant/bar! Ive been coming here consistently close to 4 yrs now. Ive never had a bad experience here. Food wise pizza is great. New york style. Other faves I get a lot are orange zest flavored wings and bacon cheese fries. Other food Ive tried has always been good. Ive never had an issue with anything not cooked properly. Drinks wise has always been a good environment. Good drink deals during the week. Nice staff. Bartenders and waiters/waiteresses are friendly, have always treated me good. Never have had to wait long on service, even busy nights.

I just moved to Styron Square and was recommended to this place by a friend that used to be stationed here. The place was packed on a Saturday night and I felt a little awkward going in by myself to wait for a pizza that I had called in to pick up. However, the waitresses were very sweet to me and I felt completely welcome there even all by myself in a new town where I knew nobody. I had a beer while I waited and the pizza I took home was outstanding. Very glad to have this place as a fixture in my new neighborhood. I know I will be back often!
