Dang it! Im still bent out of shape about this one. This place was stupendous in its hayday. They offered very tasty sandwiches, main courses, and their breakfast was to die for with a chipped beef over texas toast that made you want to lick the bowl before you asked for another giant serving. They had a certain flair that they added to common staple/comfort food dishes offered in a sizable menu to choose from and then they would even name the dishes after some of their customers. The owner was and still is a pretty friendly guy...I remember being invited by some of my neighbors to meet up with the owner for breakfast in which we all enjoyed great food and mimosas on the patio...good times! Eventually the owner took on another business opportunity and opened up another restaurant called Martys on the other side of Mechanicsville which is doing very well. I assume that he focused more time and attention towards the new restaurant because Riverbound became greatly simplified with a shuffle in slightly less seating, the menu was shortened, and the food became more basic in taste. It seems that Riverbound was reduced to run on auto pilot. I get it but damnit bruh! I guess I will just have to go to Martys instead.

A co-worker told me about River bound café.. My sister and I wanted to take my mother some where we hadnt been before! for mother day .We went to River bound, the Saturday before mother day. They had three customer in restaurant. Meaning it was empty. All the customers was WHITE.. My family is Black..Make a long story short, five white waitress or workers was lounging around. One waitress walk past us five times never said hello, just didnt acknowledge us AT ALL.. After about 10 min of being ignored, I got up and ask the waitress what was going on? that NO one had come over to our table, but people are steady going to other tables? She said Oh it just a oversight??? I felt like I was in the 1940s. I never felt like that in my life. My mother and sister felt the same way. I felt like no one wanted to serve US.. We go out to eat all the time, and I never, never, never, experience anything like that before. I will Never, go back to River bound Café again. I really wouldnt give them a 1 star, but I had to put something???

Aptly named the Riverbound Cafe, it is located on Route 360 East (the main thoroughfare between Richmond and various river holiday spots) at Creighton Crossing Shopping Centre, just east of downtown Mechanicsville, Virginia. The hours are: Monday to Saturday (7am-9pm); Sunday (8am-2pm). The restaurant has a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere with prompt and attentive service. Riverbound Cafe offers all manner of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and American-style entrees. Other than their breakfast menu, they really dont offer anything much I like. Making the best of it, I always order from the breakfast menu. I prefer the western omelet (onions, peppers, ham, and cheese). All omelets come with either breakfast potatoes (read: home fries) or grits and your choice of bread. Also, I like their Caribbean salad with jerk chicken. It is just the right combination of sweet and heat.

My wife and I have eaten many meals at Riverbound. I can say confidently that the food is always good, but my last two meals have been outstanding. Lauras omelet this past week was amazing. I wasnt sure about goat cheese on an omelet, but it was on point. Fast forward to tonight, I had an amazing blackened tuna with a side of mashed sweet potato and asparagus. Again it was awesome! Keep it up Riverbound!

This place wont blow you away, but you will leave satisfied. Good food, almost comfort food, with a few twists. I have never really been disappointed in anything, but at the same time nothing leaves you overly impressed. Friendly service, usually crowded at peak times. Very consistent, which is unusual in this area. Definitely a place to recommend.

Our first time in was for Sunday brunch. We enjoyed the Riverbound Benedict and Country Fried Chicken plates. Very delicious and filling. The wait staff was polite and busy attending to the customers (no one was loitering around being giggly or unprofessional-a pet peeve of mine). We look forward to coming back again!

Ive been going to Riverbound since they opened, and I have always loved their food. Ive only ever had one negative experience out of hundreds. The fries are absolutely to die for (especially with their ranch dressing) and their Breakfast Burger is one of my favorite things on the menu.

All around Amazing !!! Great food and service !! Super friendly management! They really make you feel at home and the specials are always different and fantastic! Kids and adults can enjoy at the same time ( which is a big deal for a mother of 3 boys).

People here are always friendly. Had a server that use to be their cook take our order and I complemented him for the past meals they have prepared. Plus they serve Pepsi products and I am bias for that reason. Good food and outside seating a plus!

Waitress was very efficient and courteous. Moms Breakfast; potatoes were cold and not done and not enough for the plate. Coffee was weak, other than that everything else was fine. Just wasnt up to your normal grade and it wasnt at a busy time.

There isnt anything I dont love about Riverbound but my absolute favorite is breakfast. My wife and I eat there a minimum of once per week. From the excellent service to the tasty food, you simply cant go wrong dining here.

A great fun place for family dining without dropping a load of money.Very good crab cakes and burgers are on weekly specials. The food was served quickly and the staff was friendly. Looking forward to my next visit...

Great brunch-time meals. Burgers are great, especially the breakfast burger. Only problem is that it can get a little cold if you are sitting near the back door in the colder months. The food will warm you up though.

Best place in VA, If you come and want the best waitress ask for Casey Melton or Marshall. All the waitress are top notch and if your there for breakfast on a weekend me and my family will be there.

Great place for good easy comfort food. Recently visited while on vacation from Boston. Loaded tots are a treat. I had one the burger specials. It was delicious. Cooked right, tender and juicy.

We were so disappointed in our breakfast this morning. The food was not hot. The grits were lumpy and the eggs were like styrofoam. The best thing on my plate was the wheat toast.

Relaxed atmosphere, good food. Burgers and fries are the best. They dont do healthy as well as Id like. Ordered an entree with steamed veggies, which were still crunchy.

Felt in the mood for some Southern Cuisine. Although it advertised that it was such, it didnt quite meet expectations for it. The food was still quite delicious though.
