This isnt my typical kind of place- I prefer booths and a real restaurant type setting but then I am older. This place is colorfully decorated with square tables and chairs all out in an open area and you go through a line to order what you want and take it with you to your table. The food is good, the portions are very large, so overall if you want a little bit of everything you end up paying a lot more than other places, but if you are happy with one dish then it works well. Its probably better for the younger set but the people behind the counter were very, very nice and when I first went and didnt understand how it worked the service rep behind the cash register went out of his way to help me and to make sure I understood and was able to order and get what I wanted, going so far as to bring me the take home plates and tops personally. Things like that are appreciated more than you know. That is why now I do go back if I have a hunger for Mexican but just want to make it a quick stop. Its pricey for Mexican but like I said, if you know what to order it doesnt come out that bad and I noticed though I dont drink them, they have lots of traditional Mexican drinks at the end if you want those as well.

I dont know what the people below who didnt rave about Cafe Rio are smoking! Im from Utah and Ive been praying for Cafe Rio to come to Virginia...low and behold. This is by far the best tex mex youll find in the country! I know because Ive lived all over the country and even spent a couple of years in Mexico. The pork salad is amazing! The pork burrito enchilada style is amazing! The tres leches cake is amazing! The best thing of all is its inexpensive. My family of 5 (3 young children) eat there for $15. Kids get free quesadillas. I like Chipotle as well, but these are not even comparable. Its like comparing apples and oranges. This restaurant will take the nation by storm...youll see.

This place is soooo yummy! My mother grew up in El Paso, Texas and she would make the best mexican food you ever had. There are a lot of decent mexican restaurants in the northeast but I have always missed the flavor that my mom used to make. Until now! At Cafe Rio the ingredients are ridiculously fresh, the recipes are timeless gems, prices are fair (including lots of incentives to keep going back in the form of coupons, daily specials, and customer rewards cards. Service is speedy but they have been slammed lately so you may have to wait a little bit. This place puts Chipotle and Baja Fresh to shame. Youve gotta try it!!!!

Wish I could give them 0 stars. Just went there to get a gift card and it turns out they closed at (7pm) on a Sunday when it clearly states on their door they close at 10 pm. I was standing like a fool by the cash registered and a whole bunch of people watching me until I approached a worker who stated they were closed however the door was unlocked and they had some sort of party. They should think about their customers and put a sign outside so that they dont make a fool of themselves. I have never been to this place before just came to get a gift card for a friend who likes this place. They certaintly wont have my business ever.

Very friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Noisy but kind of in a fun way. If gigantic, over the top sized burritos is your thing this is the place. Frankly - theyre too big. Good ingredients but only rice and beans inside. Served Cafe Rio style, they drown it in salsa making the whole thing a big mess. Tasty meat though. The pork barbacoa is very good but odd in a burrito. Soup was very good. I agree with the other reviewer regarding the staff (27) falling all over each other and getting the order confused. Kind of expensive. Is come back but would be more careful about what I ordered.

Stumbled upon this place while on a shopping trip to Manassas and was pleasantly surprised. It ended up kind of being like Chipotle but with more options, freshly made tortillas, and more of a tex-mex flavor. It was fantastic. Did I mention that the tortillas are made there?! Their lemonade and punch options sure take the cake though, I had a limeade that was infused with hibiscus and and it was almost like a passion fruit tea but more subtle. I hope that more pop up in the area because it is my new favorite quick serve mexican restaurant!

I prefer waitresses and this is not what you get here. In short, its an upscale Chipotle. The soft drink section is many times better than Chipotle. The food while good is something Im holding my approval on. Im still testing out the menu. For my first time I had the daily special which that day was spaghetti with some chicken or beef on top. It was ok but odd, but Id rather have a burrito. My second trip I had tacos. I suspect that once I get around to ordering the burritos, Im going to be pleased.

Great food, friendly staff! My daughter and I have been going once or twice a week since it opened. We love to eat outside on the patio. The burritos are huge! I also love the tostadas. I recently tried the soup and it was delicious. The drinks are unique. My favorite is the fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade. The prices are very reasonable. They love Teachers and Military and have Free Meal Week for them! I love Cafe Rio and I am so happy we now have one in Manassas!

Cafe Rio is AMAZING!!! It is always somewhere we had to go whenever we were out on the west coast so I was so excited when they started opening them here in the east. Went there and it was packed, but the service was excellent, the line went out the door but they had employees handing out menus and talking with you to keep you happy. The food is amazing, hands down the best fast service mexican out there. Im sure it will be a huge success here in vVrginia!!

Food is great, but Im not sure I trust the freshness of the food. Ive seen one of the workers dump fresh pico into the old pico container on the line. That pico at the bottom could be there all day. Additionally, there were several rock hard pieces of rice on my plate. Annoying having to spit those out. This suggests that they are not properly cycling the rice either, so some at the bottom of the container gets dried out and hard as the day goes on.

I dont know what everyone else is talking about, but I went here the first time the other day and the food is terrible. I heard that it was better than Chipotle, but it came no where close to it. The food was gross, the service was slow, and they charge extra for just about everything.. steak, sour cream, salsa... the only thing that really came with my taco was lettuce. If you love Chipotle like I do, dont ever go to Cafe Rio, its a waste of money.
