This was my husbands and I first time at a B&B and we were celebrating our anniversary. We had a nice relaxing time and the Inn was charming and we appreciated the historical part of it. However, everything seemed a little over priced and were disappointed in several things. We had dinner there, which was surprisingly very good. Our waitress was very friendly and the service was good. I was disappointed in the "full country breakfast". I was expecting a full breakfast including choices of eggs, hash browns, bacon, pancakes, etc. All we got was french toast with bacon and a small cup of fruit salad. It was very delicious but I was expecting more. We had it delivered to our room which was nice too. Also, we did notice that certain areas could have been kept up better. We sat out by the pool which was very relaxing but it looked like it hadnt been cleaned in weeks. Granted summer is over and we werent planning on swimming but if the pool is open I would expect it to be cleaned and presentable. I experienced the same thing as another reviewer upon checkout. The woman showed me the bill and explained it and noted the space for adding gratuity. I was surprised and didnt know what to do.... I thought it was included in the room price? We did have dinner so I figured it off of that. When I handed the bill back, she asked did I not like the service provided? - I guess she didnt think I tipped enough??? I thought that was very rude. All in all we had a nice time but would never go back. I will look for another B&B to try.

This is a lovely B&B on the site of an old plantation. We stayed in Uncle Guys Loft - a small room in one of the out-buildings on the property. It was a nice, cozy room for my wife and me to relax. The bathroom was very cramped, but usable - our only complaint was that the window right next to the toilet was missing mini-blinds, so there was little privacy while using the toilet. That being said, it opened onto a grass field, and we managed to jam a towel up into the window to give us a bit of privacy, so it wasnt a huge issue. But other than that, it was very nice - complete with a 1/2 bottle of sparkling wine to welcome us to the room. Breakfast was very good - waffles (nicely prepared), bacon (a little overdone), and a tasty melon. It was all served on Desert Rose China. We had it delivered to the room. There was a Keurig coffee machine in the room for coffee, but a carafe was delivered with breakfast. The grounds are lush and bucolic. Theres a nice, one mile trail through the woods for an evening stroll, plenty of friendly cats and dogs, and a beautiful porch on which to relax. They offered a 10% discount for military. Lots of character. Very nice - wed happily return.

While this was a beautiful plantation rich in American history the service for us was poor. So we would not recommend or go again. Before we got there I requested history information on the house and area. I was told that was not a problem and it would be waiting on my bed. We got in later that night, which we informed them of and that wasnt in issue. But when we finally met a staff member there was not much acknowledgement or a welcome or even introduction. They did not go over or offer to go over anything. The information was not left in our room. We requested fresh towels. We did not receive them either. I called and told them there wasnt any heat, she said there was but wasnt sure how to turn it on and I was put on hold. The phone hung up and I kept calling only to get no answer and nobody ever came to turn on or help with the heating in the room. Walked around I didnt see or couldnt reach anyone. When you only have to manage a small amount of guest and rooms, should have been better service.

A wonderful experience! The hospitality is warm and gracious. A very relaxed atmosphere that pulls you in. Everything is readily available and was as requested. Very dog-friendly. Of note, if you are looking for a "resort" type atmosphere with constant attention, perhaps not your destination - but if you are looking for a beautiful, elegant, charming, "step back in time" feel that provides privacy, then definitely your destination (which is what I was looking for and enjoyed it tremendously!). Also, enjoyed the breakfast and the room was very spacious (Overseer Cottage).

Wow, who knew that stepping back in history would taste so good! Our family had an incredible dining experience, as we celebrated a birthday. We all agreed that this was one of the best meals we had ever had. We all opted for the 3 course special: starter, entree and dessert. We enjoyed a variety of offerings: asparagus soup with crab, crab and avocado salad, lamb, filet, duck, and chicken with shrimp. What was so unusual was that in addition to tasting so fabulous, each dish was so beautifully and originally plated. Cant wait to return to this special inn and B&B.

Having heard great things about the food, we went to Prospect Hill for Mothers Day Brunch. While my mother was very pleased with the food, I was unimpressed with the number of selections offered. Thats to be expected. Not everybody has the same taste and we often have different expectations. The real dagger in this deal was when the bill came. At an advertised rate of $39.00 per person, our tab came to $78.00. At the bottom, before the tax was calculated, was a gratuity, of $17.16. Thats 22% gratuity, for a party of 2, on a buffet!! Robbery it was.

Zero handicapped accomodations and completely unapologetic about it. "Thank you" to your server will prompt a response of "uh huh." Dinner was good, but i was so hungry by the 8:00 dinner bell (8:30 serving) that I would have eaten anything. If you are looking for a pretentious atmosphere, coupled with poor customer service, this place is what youve been searching for!

Came here for their dinner during Charlottesvilles restaurant week. While it was in the highest bracket for those participants, the dinner was delicious and well worth it. The only issue was that the bartender did not seem to be acquainted with an "old fashioned." Otherwise, it was fantastic, and would definitely recommend.

Great B&B, very relaxing, grounds are great, breakfast was delicious both days of our stay and the dinner we had was one of the best Ive had, stayed in the Kitchen Cabin, the room is full of history that leaves you thinking about how things used to be. Well be back again for our 3rd visit.

This inn was a delight from the time we arrived to the time we left. The food, accommodations and setting was superb. Service was fantastic. We are very particular and are planning our fourth trip to Prospect Hill this month. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

The room was nice if youre under 5foot 6ins tall. At $315 a night there are tons of better choices. The evening meal was less than undistinguished,. the wine overpriced and the stories, tired ,untrue, and forgetful. Breakfast was very good. Overall a disapointment.
