The Little Grill Collective was a huge disappointment. There are two reasons it was such a disappointment. First, we went here after our vacation and before we headed home as a goodbye meal with our family. Sadly this restaurant is not kid friendly. My young son was having a lovely meal and as many of us do, needed to go to the bathroom. Well, there are no changing facilities. Thats fine, weve all been there right? So as I get my stuff out to change my son, a hostess comes over and tells me that I cant. When I asked what she would suggest, she told me to change him in the car. Its winter, and on top of that, they do not have a parking lot so we were parked down the street. If you want to take your kid with you instead of leave them in the car like the animal she then said was also not welcome (as if my kid is comparable to an animal), dont come here. Second, they say its a vegetarian restaurant with vegan options and also meat. I always get super excited when cooks know their way around traditional foods that can be vegan because I am very lactose intolerant. In this case, I expected to be able to eat pretty much everything as that is supposed to be the specialty here. Sadly, that was not the case. I could have buckwheat pancakes, not French toast (which I have easily ordered at a diner) or any other kinds of pancakes. I ended up ordering the huevos rancheros. It was very good, but being dairy free, I rarely get to eat breakfast foods out and was really looking forward to some normal pancakes or rocking French toast. They have a good mission (co-op) and the food I had was good. I cannot see returning with my son though, and the reaction of the lady seriously soured me on the place. My family was all dragged there by me, and we all left feeling unwanted and inconvenient. Thats how I feel every meal because of the lactose intolerance. This restaurant was my chance to feel good about it for a change. So disappointed.

Went here Easter morning expecting a line out the door but surprisingly we were able to get a table immediately. For the two of us we ordered a lot of food but it was all worth it. Before I continue, I want to point out that this was the best breakfast I have ever had in Harrisonburg and one of the best breakfasts Ive had my whole life. Please dont think I am exaggerating. It all started with the comfortable seating, uniquely designed tables and comfortable sound level. Then came the coffee and that is when I realized we were in for something wholesome and satisfying. We ordered a tall order of Banana Walnut pancakes, a short order of the Blue Monkey pancakes, a side order of one egg scrambled, a side order of cheesy eggs and some spicy potatoes. We read that all foods were made with local ingredients that were specified on back of the menu. The pancakes were done perfectly and you could taste all the ingredients in the first savory bite. The eggs were perfect as well and we add ketchup to our pancakes which always makes things tasty but this was different. The ketchup was also homemade in house and had a totally different texture than other ketchup out there. The spicy potatoes were excellent and had the right amount of spiciness to them. All the food was outstanding and we had a lot to take home with us. The only catch with the whole place is that they only take cash and check so make sure you go to the ATM before. For all that food mentioned it was $21 so the price was on point as well.

I had the worst dining experience ever here at Little Grill. First thing I see is the place is really cramped up and theres no cushion on the booths seats. Not very comfortable. Then one of the first things I see when I sit down is a cockroach crawling under the table, lovely. I let it go though. Next thing is they serve me my lemonade and it tastes downright weird. Like...not fresh. I dont know how to describe it. It wasnt good. Plus, I look even closer in my lemonade cup and I notice some kind of weird unknown substance stuck on the cup. Gross! Did they even wash it? After that, my friends and my food is served (yes, Im still in there) and we find a hair in my friends sandwich. I had some pancakes and the syrup tastes really water-y. Despite all this, I did not complain once, paid and left...I will never be back again! Place is dirty and food is gross.

I found this place by accident, and now cant imagine not stopping there every time I pass by!!! I dont live in the area, and never have. But, I travel back and forth from New England to the south several times per year. The food and service are great, as well as the prices. I dont usually go out on a limb with restaurant recommendations, but this one is a no brainer! If you are traveling on I-81, make the time to get off the highway for a great meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner! I am getting ready for a trip north next Friday and am salivating at the opportunity for a meal there and to bring two new patrons with me!!! See you Saturday!!!

The menu is wonderful, with plenty of ingredients on hand to tweak a meal to suit vegan diets. Even if you just want to point at a meal with a (V) next to it and say "that, please" there are so many great choices! Prices are good, too. No "atmosphere" markup or "our food is unique in this town" premiums so far as I can tell. The service is quick and friendly, even during lunch rushes, and the food comes out very fast considering so much of it is scratch-made and individualized. While traveling up and down 81 once or twice a year our plan is to hit up the Little Grill every time we pass Harrisonburg. Few places are comparable.

I grew up in Harrisonburg but, it was only recently that I decided to try The Little Grill for my lunchtime meal. This small, eclectic restaurant has an amazing selection of organic, healthy wonderful food for those who eat vegetarian or vegan. Yippee! I enjoyed a delicious sandwich filled with veggies seasoned with a house made dressing. I followed up with a yummy raw banana oatmeal cookie. The food was fresh and my waiter was happy to help me with my menu questions. Personal service and healthy, organic food is thriving in downtown Harrisonburg. If you crave REAL food, head to The Little Grill!

I have been there a few times before and loved my experience there. But I went a few days ago and sat at the table for 5 minutes without anyone coming to greet us. People that came in two minutes after us got their water, coffee, and order taken before anyone came to our table. I am a server and know that things get hectic sometimes but the servers kept looking at us and wouldnt ask if we had been helped. I am very disappointed because I loved all of my previous visits but I will most likely not be back.

Our hungry mother bowl and egg-and-veggie scramble were delicious and the portions were just the right size. We also appreciated their unique selection of soft drinks. I regret, though, that I could not get the falafel salad i initially ordered because they had run out of falafels. The waitress promptly returned from the kitchen, apologized and got me to order something else, but I was left wondering why they just couldnt make more falafels...
